I'm trying to hide a few options in a dropdown box using .hide(). This works perfectly fine in firefox and chrome, but it doesn't work in IE and Safari. On IE, when you close the Ajax content there will be a alert message shows 'Jcarousel: No width/height set for items. This will cause an infinite loop. Now Begin and Contact are fine, but as you can see, the Einde part isn't sliding in. I'm hiding my "Second" div at the end of the transformation to avoid horizontal scrollbars. But after I show it again, to slide it back to the left, the transformation somehow doesn't work.
If I comment out the slide-to-left transformation, the Second div shows on the right, with horizontal scrollbar. So it does actually do the transformation, but doesn't seem to do the slide. I've also tried re-setting the -webkit-transition property again after I show() the Second div, to set a delay on it again. However, this had no effect either.
I have a website at: [URL] The page works on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and IE-9. It sort-of works on IE-8, however, the problem is that on IE-8, there is about 2 seconds where everything is shown on top of everything else in a mess. This is bad.
The website is unusual in that it uses a menu to slide screens from right to left. This has implications. For instance, I need the menu to appear on all screens, so I use absolute positioning, and then use javascript to calculate the center position. The same goes for a logo image. And on top of that, some screens (which are really DIVs) have items positioned by absolute and relative positioning within them, and those positions are often calculated via javascript (and then set).
On IE-8, the result is not good. I think what is happening is that the browser first shows everything as it appears before javascript is run, and then slowly the javascript is run, which puts everything in the correct position. So initially, not only is everything in the wrong position, but different DIVs appear on top of each other.
Does anyone knows a method to measure the scrollbar's width, which works in Safari/Chrome.
The innerWidth function doesn't seem to take the scrollbar's width into account when measuring the innerWidth of the child element of a scrollbared element.
I have just started a new job and am building my first website for them. I am using Jquery to try and impress them but after trying and testing the site in Safari, I am stumped as to why such a basic function its going wrong. The script works fine in ie and firefox so. I have stripped all the non necessary code out of this and placed the css and javascript inside the head.

If you load that code in firefox you will see that by clicking on 'show porfolio', a yellow div slides open and pushes the black div to the right. You click 'hide portfolio' and the black div slides back and the yellow div hides. You can open and close the portfolio div as often as you like and it works a treat. If you try doing the same in safari, it works the first time but then
it starts pushing the black div down.

It works great on IE and Firefox but in Chrome and Safari the closing menuitems shift the whole menu to the left for a second and then back to its origin. I have about 20 menuitems that each hold about 5 submenu items. The goal is to show the 5 items only on mouseover on the menuitems and then hide it once the mouse moves away.

I'm relatively new to jQuery and wrote a simple script that hides a block of text and displays a read more link that when clicked shows the hidden text. Everything works fine except in Safari where the hidden text is initially displayed for a second or so before being hidden. I did some research and I did run into a few posts about similar Safari bugs but no resolution has worked for me yet.

I have two multiple selects on my page. One gets updated via ajax whenever the user filters data (we'll call that select "#select-1"), when they select options from that it then gets moved into the other select (we'll call that "#select-2"). That is all working fine but I'd like to refine it so that they can't select the same data twice.
So, basically, what I'd like to do is add logic within the ajax call to only update the select options in (#select-1) if it does NOT exist in the other select (#select-2).
I have no clue where to even begin with this....do I need to store the val's in an array and then search for each one in the other?
This is a makeshift sort function for a table. I want to replace a div contents with a javascript function call. It works fine if I define the individual case, but the general case doesn't work. I am trying to make our buy page reload after clicking the Paypal "continue shopping" button in Paypal Website Standards. The pop up Paypal shopping cart window closes after clicking the button but our buy page doesn't reload. I've got this code that needs to load a .wmv file - the client is adamant about using .wmv files and not Flash files - and the client insists that it use variables for the width and height parameters.I've now got the code working correctly in IE (it's always worked in Firefox) but I've just noticed that it's not working in Safari. I'm sure it's got something to do with the <object> but am not sure how to fix it.I've tried including the safari object code for wmv files and then using an if/else statement to only load the object code for safari but my javascript skills aren't that great.As it stands right now, both Firefox and IE try to load the quicktime object after they load the wmv movie object.
