View 2 RepliesI am using the the jQuery Cycle Plugin and it's custom transitions to animate some <div>'s. For some reason only the first div will animate. Once it fades out the second div should fade in, but it doesn't. Once the cycle finished and returns to the first <div>, it animates properly and then continues to not fade the others.
Here is my animation code:

I have recently upgraded the Safari browser on my desktop (Apple Mac Mini running OS X 10.5.8) to Safari 5.0.6 and noticed that the Cycle plugin completely breaks in this version of the browser. My laptop, a Powerbook running OS X 10.4.11, has Safari 4.1.3 installed and the Cycle plugin works absolutely perfect in this version.
I have upgraded the linked JQuery library to version 1.7 as hosted on the JQuery web server [URL] and have even gone as far as downloading the Cycle Lite .js file and hosting it on my own server. None of this solves the plugin breaking in Safari 5.0.6; seeing as I have no issues using the plugin in Safari 4.1.3, I am assuming that this is an issue with the Cycle code as it is being called in Safari 5.0.6
I am having an odd error where the pager generates links but they don't change the slide in FF and Safari. The biggest surprise of all is that it actually works in IE. Here is the page I am referring to: http://76.12.208.222/

I'm having a terrible time working with the JQuery plugin Supersized. I have everything work except the anchor tag for the sliding banners are not able to be clicked.
Instead of having the slideshow append to the body tag I had it append to a div tag. This is driving me bonkers as I can't figure out how to get this banner to be clickable. I look at it with Firebug and the HTML is rendered for the link yet I can't for the life of me make it clickable.
I have yet to be able to do this successfully. I am using the Cycle Plugin to cycle through a series of images and corresponding caption. To show the images, I use:

Problem: The captions do not effectively cycle. What appears is the first caption from php the_excerpt but it does not change to the next php the_excerpt text. Can I solve this problem so I get the text from php the_excerpt to correspond to each image??

This is a javascript based list that updates a flash video player with a new video inside the cycle. I define a cycle in document.ready as per usual. In my cycle I have different sets of images that i want to cycle through and only want certain ones to cycle as selected using the slideExpr option.
Is there a way to change this option from:
SlideExpr: 'a'
To:
SlideExpr: 'b'
Another alternative i've considered is to make a cycle of cycles.
I've worked though a lot of issues trying to get the jQuery cycle plugin working in a relatively complex situation but have hit yet another wall.
Basically, I'm trying to get the jQuery Cycle plugin to cycle through entire divs, each one of which contains yet another slider platform built in jQuery. The first div always displays exactly as it should but when I click to transition, the elements within the second div appear stacked instead of side by side on the slider as they should. I've tried modifying the CSS in every way I can think of to prevent this, but so far, no dice.
I'm not sure whether its an element of the CSS for the second slider platform (wp e-commerce product slider) or one of the two platforms themselves. One thing I did notice was that one of the inner slider divs "gallery_slider" is automatically being set to 90px wide which is way too thin, but I can't seem to figure out how to override this if that is actually the problem.

I'm using Fancy Form Slider and love it. In firefox, it's working great. In Safari, its not so hot. Check it out:[URL].. It renders fine in both, but the animation is acting REALLY weird in safari.
I've used alerts to see if its using the correct data, and it is. Both the "current" and the new marginLeft are properly being set (in fact, it IS being set in safari, because when i inspect the element, it has the right margin-left data thats being alerted. There's no errors being thrown into the error console, either.

I have code done to have hidden div's slide down from the top (by clicking a div below it) which is cool, but how can the code be changed so that the hidden div's slide from hidden upwards rather then down, so to say that the div is at the bottom of the page then clicked and reveals upwards.

I'm a bit new to jQuery but am loving it so far.. especially the cycle plugin. I have a strange problem that I've not been able to find the solution to anywhere else. Everything works just fine with the exception of one issue thats causing me problem. I'm using cycle to control 3 different fading animations on my page. On 2 of the animations I'd like to pause cycle after the image fades out for a few seconds but before cycle fades the next image in. The catch is that I want the timing to be different for each pause before the next cycle begins.
The goal is for#hpcontent,#hphead,#hpfade3to fade out all at the same time. Then for#hphead to pause for 2 seconds before it fades in the next random image, and#hpfade3to pause for 3 seconds before it fades in the next random image

It works fine in FF, Opera, Google chrome and Saffari but not in IE At phase one, the image is outside the visible screen and after a while, the image comes from the botom of the screen, directing to the center while it is rotating and resizing. The only thing that doesn't work in IE is the "bottom" value. The image animation starts at the top of the screen.
I'm using the Timers plugin to do a count down timer.I would like to enhance my UI by having the numbering being counted down transition from black to red as it gets closer to 0.The jQuery UI demo for animate seems to be what I need, but what I'm having trouble figuring out is how to have it transition gracefully over time. In Safari 5, after the second submission the form stops doing the calculations (besides the English to metric conversions). I am migrating a site from prototype/scriptaculous to jQuery, and I am encountering a lot of problems with animations in IE. I should start by asking that in scriptaculous, none of these animations require special CSS or tricks for IE (like getting rid of position absolute or anything like that), but this seems to be the case for almost every animation I do in jQuery - is there a list somewhere of all the little hacks and tricks people need to do to get these animations to work in IE? I have re-implemented a few hundred of these animations (mostly crossfades, sliding up and down, highlights), and not a single one worked in IE with the original CSS from the scriptaculous version (in most cases, the other browsers would). In most cases this has to do with absolute positioning. Is it possible jQuery 1.4.4 (the version I am working with) just has massive problems or something because my impression was this library was supposed to be easier to work with, not inordinately more difficult... I just find it hard to believe everyone else is having this many issues with it.
In any event, one thing I can't find any fix for anywhere, is animating the scrollTop of an element (NOT the whole page, which seems to be what everyone else wants to do). I have a div with overflow:hidden, and two buttons underneath which allow the user to scroll through the div (a real scrollbar in this context would not look good or be very useful in comparison).
I ported the code over from scriptaculous, and it works just fine in all normal browsers. Here is the version that would animate scrolling up:
Tested in Firefox/Chrome/Safari just fine right off the bat. But in IE, it just waits and then calls my callback, setting the scrollTop correctly at the end but not actually animating. It's not totally failing, in the sense that the scrolling does happen, and the callback does fire, but it should animate, and I don't really see any reason why it wouldn't. I have set position on the div and all wrapping divs to relative, and static, and set the display value, set the zoom value, widths, heights, everything, but this div will not animate as it scrolls at all in IE only (this is all IE's - 6, 7, and 8). I also tried isolating the div on its own page, removing nearly all the content (leaving text so it will have something to scroll through), practically no CSS outside of width, height, and overflow, and again - does not work in IE only (works in all other browsers without fail).
The animation works, but the callback function (alert) doesn't get called.[code]

Some issues with jquery animate. im trying to create a navigation menu that apon mouseover, the background image animates with a negative y value. apon mouseout, the div will animate the background position back to zero. Simple enough ay? thats what i thought. When i roll over the divs with the bg image, they do not animate, it appears like a simple background change. in other words, there is no tween or movement, just ...new position.

Animate doesnt seem to work with zindex. I dont see anywhere this is mentioned on the animate() page.
