JQuery :: Get Parameter From URL?
Jun 14, 2010
I'am building a little site with jquery. Now I have a Problem. I want that if in the url ?product=anyid is, a function is called. If the url is empty and has no parameter the normal site should appear and run.This is for building a permalink to products and you can open them with [URL].

Looks like attr("name","value") method is not working to set name attribute value for input type in IE 7. It works fine in IE 8 and other browsers. Method works fine for other attribute in IE 7 e.g. id attribute
While setting name attribute it sets 'submitName' attribute and not 'name' attribute. Somehow IE 7 is not allowing to set name attribute dynamically.[code]...
But this issue is showstopper for us and I thought to check with forum if anyone has any suggestion for workaround.

I want to add parameters to the querystring or url before submitting to server. Is this possible?
For example:
This is the normal url: [url]
This is the url after user clicking submit: [url]
So I would like jquery to add the querystring parameter after user click submit.

I am trying to call an ajax function from the onclick event of an anchor tag. Currently I reference the function like this. I would have liked to bind the function to the anchor tag but did not know how to do that when I need to pass in a parameter?
<a href="#" onClick="getCredentialFromId(${link.id})">${link.name}</a>
link.id and link.name are rendered on the serverside so when the page is rendered it looks like this:
<a onclick="getCredentialFromId(35)" href="#">MySQL</a>
my function looks like this:
function getCredentialFromId(cred_id) {
$.post('link.htm?linkCredentials',{cred_id: cred_id},function(response) {
try {
[code]....

I've been struggling with a piece of code. I'm guessing the solution is quite simple, but I just can't find it! [code]...
The line that I commented out was an attempt at getting a variable that had the value of the image-id, but it doesn't work.

I can't change the speed on any jQuery functions that use that parameter, for example fadeIn(). No matter if I add slow, fast, 100, 180000... my tags/images/whatever always fade in at the same speed which is something between half and one second. Is this a bug?

The problem seems to be with the ajaxSend parameters. It seems that I cannot modify none of them:

I'm having a lot of difficulty getting an ajax option in Autocomplete to pass a variable value to a php script. I started with an Autocomplete that works well sending parameters to geonames.com and retrieving responses, but as I changed: type to POST, dataType to json, and changed the data option, it no longer works. Despite a lot of searching, I can't find the problem. The php seems to get an object, but it seems to be empty. Firebug is not helping much or I don't know how to use it for this kind of debugging. I get no error messages.
Here's the jQuery:
$('stateProvince').autocomplete({
source: function( request, response ){
$.ajax({
url: "getStateProvince.php",
type: "POST", // a jQuery ajax POST always transmits in utf-8 characters
data: {countryAbbrev: $('input[name=country]:checked').val()}, //correct value here dataType: "json",
success: function( countryData ){
response( $.map( countryData.getStateProvince, function( item ){
return{
label: item.name + (item.abbrev ? ", " + item.abbrev : ""),
value: item.abbrev
}}));
}});
},
minLength: 2
});
And here's a bit of php test code to see if the value is passed in:
<?php
$country=$_POST['countryAbbrev'];
echo "hello world, country is {$country} <br>"; //test for contents of POST
print_r($_POST);
?>

I currently have the following:
<a href="#" id='$dbase'>Link</a>
which passes the value of $dbase to my jQuery click function.
But I'd like to also pass a second parameter consisting of a page number. Can that be done using the click function or would I have to do it another way. I'm assuming it must be possible. I suppose i could always concatenate the two parameters, e.g. $dbase-$pagenum, pass that and then split it in the javascript but that seems a slightly inelegant way of doing it.

$(document).ready(function(){
jQuery("#confirm-ajax-submit").click(function(event){
var success = function(){
alert("this is what I want to see.");

I'm using jQuery Validate to validate my on-line things.it looks like a plugin issue, but my turn-arround was on ajax/param not on the plugin, so i put it on core.Today i faced a problem, that is: i use remote validation and i needed that all the form is submited to the validation. (this remote validation is like a bridge to the $.ajax)i have tried this, and of it is not the best deal, because it get the form on ready and don't change when the form change:
$('#nome').rules('add',

I'm passing the id of a div as a parameter. I'm not sure how to refer to it with Jquery. The following does not work:
Code:
function updatemail(param1, param2) {
$("#param2").animate({ opacity: "show" }, 300);
}
I also tried $(param2) but it did not work.
