In jquery how can I grab values from a forms input checkboxes? I written the code and I think I didn't properly request the object and also does the input need to have a id or a class? I have no id nor classes with these inputs just names.
I am working on a form with a huge selection of checkboxes (certifications), arranged in a table (#certs). To make it easier for the user to check what certifications they have selected, I would like to add a list immediately following the #certs table that updates dynamically based on their selections.
I put a paragraph under the table with a span - ID certs_list. I was able to add to this with the following code, but if the checkbox is clicked multiple times, it keeps adding the same value over and over again. How can I simply add to the list (item 1, item 2, item 3) when a checkbox is checked and remove it if it is unchecked?
My platform PHP, MySQL. I am not very familiar with Javascript. I need to calculate value of each Checkbox List (Price) plus value from one TextBox (PrixBase) I have found this JQuery which works great in my case, but it make append two numbers instead calcul addition
I have a very large form and have a couple of checkbox groups where multiple items can be selected. They are grouped as an array of checkboxes. When I post the checkbox groups, the PHP script receives duplicate values. If the group has 2 checkboxes, 4 values are posted. If it has 10 checkboxes, 20 values will be posted.
i.e:
I then submit everything to a PHP script via an Ajax call, then output the result to a div. (see below)
However, when my PHP script loops over the $_POST array, it seems that each checkbox array is duplicated, so my PHP array returns:
This happens with all my checkbox arrays, but not with an array of hidden fields for some reason.
I don't think this is a PHP problem, as it looped over everything correctly when submitting via a conventional POST. I checked the contents of $_POST, and it seems that the duplicates are being posted.
I am coding a quiz that will have 40 checkboxes that the user will be able to check.
(Right now I am trying to get this code to work with 4 and will change it to 40 once I figure out my problem.)
What I want to do is count up the amount of checked boxes and display it to the user.
I know I could do this with copying and pasting a line of code over and over again, but I thought it would be much smarter to use a loop and cut the JS down to only a few lines.
i have a form when a user selects a name I then run some ajax code to fill in a td with checkboxes (with a choice of emails based on the name they selected)this all works but when I submit the form I can't get the values of the checkboxes that were checked.
I'm currently designing a website for a takeaway company, and have one page displaying their menu. So that customers can easily calculate how much their takeaway will cost, I'm going to put checkboxes next to each item.Each of the checkboxes' value will be the price of the item, and I need a script that will add the values (prices) of the checkboxes they've ticked.They can then see the total cost of their takeaway without having to work it out, and add or remove items accordingly. I will then add a button which will print out a list of the items they ticked with the total price at the bottom. The customer can bring this in with them and the staff can easily see what they want and how much to charge them.
Firstly, I need to know how to make Javascript add these values (and probably save them as a variable) Secondly, how would I make this display on the page (either after they click a button, or automatically so they can see the price real-time)? - I assume this would be basic coding --- document.write(var) And finally, how could I make a script which would print only the items which are ticked, and the total price?
I'm having problems getting the values of selected checkboxes and outputting them to a textarea. This seems like quite a simple thing to do but its causing me a lot of bother! I am using a mixture of JavaScript and jQuery to find a solution to this.
<h2>Booking Form</h2> <form name="booking"> Please choose the days that would suit your visit: <br/> <input type="checkbox" name="days" value="Monday">Monday<br/> <input type="checkbox" name="days" value="Tuesday">Tuesday<br/> <input type="checkbox" name="days" value="Wednesday">Wednesday<br/>
I have a for and lets say 4 checkboxes. I want to get the values of the checkboxes that are checked & to get the values of the checkboxes that are not checked. So if someone check the A & C checkbox I will get that A&C has this value (because they are checked!) and B,&D has this value(because they are not checked). Example this is my table....
Here's how it goes... If you select something from a list of products, and press Order an alert box will appear saying what you've ordered. For now I'm testing it on the very first check-box and nothing happens if I check the first check-box and click Order.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 TransitionalEN" "[URL]"> <html xmlns="[URL]" > <head> <title>Products</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="external.css" /> <script type="text/javascript"> var txt = ""; function order(){ if (amd965.checked == true) <!-- this is probably wrong --> .....
So when a user goes to that directly, all the presets are already there? (since my updateResults function already sends that data along when the user is actually using the page, perhaps I could just somehow parse that url and call my updateResults function with the requested parameters...
I tried to enumerate through a index array to assign different ids to newly retrieved JSON data, the li element is initially set to be hidden and the hidden data can be seen from console. But the browser is failing to show the data when I tried to use ('li#a').animate({opacity: "show"}, "slow"); I also tried to use .animate right after each <li> appendTo the body and failed to show as well. I am wondering how to fix this? Is there any better way of handling this with out creating an enumerating array?
I've cobbled this script together to help me implement 'read more.[URL]... It does the job, but I lose all the mark-up in the process :[ It doesn't cater for a bunch of tags like <img>, <ol>, <ul> etc. slice() ain't being too kind to me. // create a 'read more' link, and hide remaining text, if post content
I'm trying to come up with a better architecture for dealing with multiple listeners in a multi-page questionnaire. Here's the general structure I'm looking to implement:
1. Set up CSS for animation
2. Look for preconditions
3. Initialize listener
4. Execute animation
Some issues to consider:
1. Some questions have dependencies that show or hide depending on what is selected in a parent question.
2. Needs to be IE 6 compatible.
3. It should be simple enough so that all you need to do is add a new question to a JSON object, which is what I have set up right now.
Some code (the looping structure that reads each question):
var newQ = eval(q); $.each(newQ, function () { // 1 - Setting CSS for each listener $(this.css).css({'width': '1500px', 'float': 'left', 'clear':'both'});
[Code].....
The problem here is that when I do a console.dir on $.each(this.value.length), it counts each character, as opposed to counting the number of elements in the array. Should I be doing an eval on q? Why or why not? If I could get this up and running, it would make my life 100x easier, as there are hundreds of questions, and I'd want to make this all data driven.
I'm not sure if I'm calling it the right thing, but I'm trying to dynamically create a bunch of key => value pairs in a javascript object.
Something like this:
Code JavaScript:
But the console gives me errors, and I haven't been able to find a way to do this. I've tryed putting the keys in square brackets, as was suggested somewhere online, but that didn't work.
Here's what I'd like to do using pure JavaScript and HTML (no Ajax or PHP): My website loads different JavaScript files dynamically which contain a bunch of data, that I will display on the website. The dynamical loading function is placed in the <HEAD> and looks like that:
Code: function loadJsFile(filename){ console.log("loading js file") var fileref=document.createElement('script') fileref.setAttribute("type","text/javascript") fileref.setAttribute("src", filename) fileref.onload = dataIsLoaded; if (typeof fileref!="undefined"){ document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(fileref) }}
The dataIsLoaded method in there is a callback that is triggered when the JavaScript file has been loaded: Code: function dataIsLoaded(){ console.log("loading js file done") dataLoaded = true; data = new Data(); }
DataLoaded is simply a global boolean that is per default false and the 'data' variable contains all the data I want to display on my site. While the JavaScript file is being loaded, the browser continues building the site. When it gets to the <body> that wants to access some information from the data variable, I get the unsurprising error that 'data' is undefined. I looked for a way to wait until 'data' is defined and then continue with building the <body> but couldn't find a solution.
Alternatively I wanted to reload the divs in the <body> when the 'data' is available: Code: function reloadDivs(){ if(dataLoaded){ console.log("data available, reloading divs"); document.getElementById('someDiv').innerHTML = document.getElementById('someDiv').innerHTML }else{ console.log("data is not yet available"); setTimeout('loadReportData();', 500); }} This does not work, I get a blank div when I do that.
I'm having two issues: First, is there an easier way for my showValue function to display the image file name without running a bunch of if statements? I tried doing something like document.getElementById('imgFile').value = imgArray[n]; but that did not seem to work.
Second, I'm trying to have the image file name change in my textbox when I click any button. I've accomplished this with onblur, but that only works if I click on the textbox. I'd like it to just change automatically.
I have a table and each row in the table has div in one of its column and these div are hidden , this table header has a link, onclick of this link I want to generate onclick event on all the divs mentioned above.
I am doing a project where I would like to be able to generate a series of variable names dynamically in the following example
var paper1 = new Raphael('img1', 500, 500); c1 = paper1.rect(0, 0, 50, 20, 5); var paper2 = new Raphael('img2', 500, 500); c2 = paper2.rect(0, 0, 50, 20, 5); would like to use a loop to increment names for (i=0;i<=5;i++)
Let's suppose a user enters his message " My name is John" in a textarea. and he likes to modify by adding <b> tag before the word "John" after he enters "My name is John".
In order to add <b> tag in front of the word "John", he should put his mouse before "John" and enter <b>. but instead of entering <b>, I like to make the user to click the button "<b>", then <b> is automatically created just before the word "John" in the textarea.
Of course </b> will be needed later, but forget about </b> for simplification.
In short, I like to make the button "<b>" , in order to add <b> tag in front of "John" after entering "My name is John."
I'll get to the point, I'm a noob I'm using greasemonkey for a certain website. Basically, I'm using gm to refresh the page after a certain time, I was however wondering, If I can set it to a random number between 2 specific times?
The code I'm using atm is setTimeout(function() { document.location.reload(); } , 10000); I know I have to use math.random, well, I think I do. But I'm not sure how to do it between 2 certain times? So to summarise, I'm trying to refresh a page at any given random time between say 5-10 minutes.
