m using jQuery 1.7 and cycle 2.9998 (Full plugin with all the transition effects).I've found out that the random option is not randomizing the first image. After the first image the random seems to work fine.

I would like to be able to run this slide show from a random starting slide on each page load, but for the slide show to remain in sequence and not load random slides thereafter. I'm sure this is doable - but the only random syntax I've found for this plugiin loads just random slides, out of the running order, which makes the navigation run randomly. I just want the starting slide to be random.

Using Jquery Cycle Plugin i have multiple containers on the same page. they have a next and prev button. the problem is, when i click the next button it will cause the containers on the pageadvance simultaneously, same goes for the previous button. it works fine when i click just on the images (they will go to the next image) but not with the prev. and next. button. i know i have to add some kind of var. to it. and i tried it but with no luck.

I'm trying to use Javascript to have an array of images that load randomly AND work in a slideshow manner so change every 3 seconds (in a logical order). The code I have below presents a random image but how do I get them to continue from the random image and change to the next every 3 seconds?

I'm a bit new to jQuery but am loving it so far.. especially the cycle plugin. I have a strange problem that I've not been able to find the solution to anywhere else. Everything works just fine with the exception of one issue thats causing me problem. I'm using cycle to control 3 different fading animations on my page. On 2 of the animations I'd like to pause cycle after the image fades out for a few seconds but before cycle fades the next image in. The catch is that I want the timing to be different for each pause before the next cycle begins.
The goal is for#hpcontent,#hphead,#hpfade3to fade out all at the same time. Then for#hphead to pause for 2 seconds before it fades in the next random image, and#hpfade3to pause for 3 seconds before it fades in the next random image

Problem: No images load, and I believe I don't fully understand the .appendTo tage.. I don't know if #body is correct. The author of the plugin assumed I understood the relation. Also #homePage may be incorrect as well.
Additionally, I found another plugin that worked for placing an image in the background (not random), and the background image would scale to size, according the users window. I loved that and it worked, just wanted to add random images to the same script.... first things first... I can't even get an image to display at all with the above code.
In case you wanted to know the script I was using to scale the background image, here it is below (although, as you will see in the code for my site - this image feature is disabled as I am trying to make adjustments).

Problem: The captions do not effectively cycle. What appears is the first caption from php the_excerpt but it does not change to the next php the_excerpt text. Can I solve this problem so I get the text from php the_excerpt to correspond to each image??
I currently have a Javascript application that randomizes about 200
images. The problem is that the images preload, which causes the entire
site to not come up until all the images are loaded. I'd like to find a
Javascript application that can load images as they are randomly
chosen. In addition, I'm trying to figure out how to not display the
same image more than once; or at least until after the 200 have been
displayed, then create a new randomization of the 200 images.

I have five DIV tags that contain a photo and brief bio for partners of an accounting firm. I need to randomize these DIV tags (id="d1" - "d5") to display only one of the tags on each page load. I have a nested cycle on the portfolio section of my site. The outer cycle rotates through projects. The inner cycles rotates through screen shots of that project. I have a half dozen or so projects with several screen shots, each one has a different height.

Also, is there a way to align the images in a slide shows so that it is always horizontally and vertically centered in the slideshow?

This is something of a continuation from my previous problem[URL]The images seem to be showing properly the first time. Unfortunately, when the slide show starts, Chrome is showing the last image in the group first. This wouldn't be a problem normally, but I plan in showing the images in an order based on their last modified info.

I dynamically load a "content" DIV with three other DIVs, one of which is controlled by the cycle plugin. The other two DIVs are positioned as expected, however the DIV that cycle is handling has positioning CSS added to it inline that is pulling it out of my page flow. (When I disable the cycle code the single image I load first displays as expected.) Here is the code from that particular DIV:

I'm trying to use jQuery to produce something similar to this flash example [url]although I'd like the effect to be somewhat more controlled.
In a nutshell, what I'm trying to achieve is a 3 x 4 grid of (12) images which appears to load in a random order and then 1 by 1 (again in random order) fade out to be replaced by another image. I'd like the effect to be quite subtle, smooth and calming with the timing between image fades to be fairly even.
All images would be pulled from a folder on my webserver. I don't want the same image to be visible more than once at any time, although I don't mind repeating images as long as they're not already in the grid - hopefully that makes sense?
Ideally I'd like only one image to be changing at any given time with a pause before the next image starts to fade into new image.
The way I've been trying to tackle this so far is to use 12 different instances of a jquery image fade laid out in a CSS grid.
There are a few problems with my approach so far;
Doesn't appear random
Timing - multiple squares change at same time. (I only want one image to change at a time)
Same image often repeated at same time within grid
Its not long before a pattern emerges and you can tell which image will change next.
I'm sure this must be possibly, but my math or scripting skills aren't quite there yet.
I'm using a jquery script to have a background image slideshow, but I can't make the images to shuffle. I need to do this, as on every click on the website, page reloads, and the background slideshow starts again on the first picture. I would prefer a random pic start.
The script so far is doing the job on covering the whole browser screen, fade on transition, and user controls (back, play / pause, next), wich I need to keep.

But, now I want to be able to set a default picture to be shown first and have the random pics appear next. I also don't want the default pic to show up again in the random array. So basically, every time the page was first visited, or refreshed it would show the default picture then move into the random pics.
