JQuery :: Click Event Not Getting Captured In Chrome For Drop Down Selection?
Nov 29, 2011
I am running across an odd problem where chrome does notrecognizethis function but IE9 does. Its a basic drop down where I'm trying to capture the click event:
I have two select lists that have option lists that are created from external XML lists that contain course offerings available at different locations. Each location has a different set of course offerings. When a user selects a location, the javascript code will hide / show the option entries that correspond to the course offerings for that location. If a user selects a course offering, the javascript code will show / hide the locations that offer those courses.
Click events are attached to each of the Option entries with the code below. The code works correctly with Firefox and Opera, but the click events are never triggered in IE, Safari or Chrome. The Chrome debugger seems to indicate that the click events get set up in Chrome (although I am not sure where JQuery saves event handler data). Each option entry has a unique ID tag.
$(".locn_option_select").click(function (locnevent) { // Set up click action on the option entries locnevent.preventDefault;[code].......
I am trying to trap the shift+click event of a DIV. Works in IE and Chrome but not in Firefox. Purpose of the code: The DIV provides a hidden link (no decoration) for an editor who wants to edit content. The DIV ignores a simple click (meaning a click without a combination of the shift key) to avoid accidental access to the casual surfer. Here is the logic of the code: DIV is clicked. call function to check for the shift key being depressed if the shift key were depressed during the "click", initiate access. If the shift key were not depressed, ignore the "click" Here is the HTML code:
i am having issue capturing the value of the selected DDL using IE. the code below works just fine in Firefox...
// Create a new drop down list -- for text box use 'input' instead of 'select' var newDDL = document.createElement('select'); // size lenght of the DDL for both IE or Firefox
I would like to create a plugin that I can put before a click event on a button. The click event should occur if the user's time on the page hasn't expired. The plugin should check the user's time, and then stop the click event if the time has expired. With the plugin, I'm essentially putting two click events on the same button, as I need to check the expiration when the button is clicked. The plugin is working on my test page, but I'm afraid that this is contingent on an arbitrary ordering of the click events by jQuery. If I have my click event chained after my plugin, can I be assured that the plugin would always stop the click event if the time is expired? Or could jQuery execute the click event before the time gets checked?
I have a drop down box. onChange of that drop down box the option selected is $_POSTed to a php page where I'm grabbing that name and using it in a form on the new page.
Instead of it opening a new window for the php page, I'd love to make it more aesthetically pleasing and use Fancy Box and jQuery to open a popup window over the page that has an iframe of the php in it.
My issue: I can't figure out how to have the modal popup open when the dropdown is selected. I don't want to have to use a button to trigger it. Any way to trigger the popup AND also POST to the php page onChange of the selection box?
i need a webpage with a lot of input:text and select:option. each modification on an element must be immediately validated through ajax. for this reason, the best choice i've found is to add a form element around each box. and use the classname of the input:submit button to identify the form instead of the ID of the form.
the submit button is hidden so the default choice to validate the form is to press enter after modification in the cell. however, as it works perfectly in FF and Opera, nothing happens on IE and Chrome.
I am currently following the image popup example from:[URL]If I run the demo on Windows XP on Chrome or Safari, the escape keydoesn't close the popup window. How do I handle this in jQuery for
I am trying to set the value of one drop down select box to the value of another drop down select box. I have the following in a function.
document.formname.boxto.options[document.formname.boxto.selectedindex].v alue = document.formname.boxfrom.options[document.formname.boxfrom.selectedinde x].value;
but I need to change the above line to allow the 4 references to "boxto" and "boxfrom" to be dynamic so their values can be passed to the function each time. Any ideas?
I would like to create a box with the same behavior as the "To" field in the gmail "Compose Email" page.
That is a simple text box but when you start typing it will suddently show a list of all the e-mails (for our purpose any string would do) in my address book that have the given substring in it.
E.g. if I type in "ga" I get all the e-mails where the "ga" substing shows up.
Then I can select from the list and press enter on the requested address or I can keep typing if the address is not in the list yet.
This is the code I am using to test this. In FF and Op. When I click on an option in the select box, the alert pops up. In IE and Chrome, it doesn't seem to catch it at all. $('.clickopt').mousedown(function(){ alert("test"); });
I'm using my custom component that has a combo box (jsf's h:selectOneMenu, which has a onselect event)in it and it already has a onchange event, so I want the onchange event to trigger another onselect event with jQuery and it only works in Firefox.
I tried it without the component and it looks like this:
How can I give a click on a link when it is just created and added to DOM?
None of this works: function openProfilePage(profile){ $('#profile-link').remove(); var link = $('<a/>').attr({'href':'profile.php?user='+profile, 'target':'_blank', 'id':'profile-link'}).css({'top':'-200px','left':'-300px', 'position':'absolute'}).html(profile);
I have an object that has a click event I'm trying to trigger. However in the click event I have the following if statement:
if(event.button != 0){return true;}
This if statement allows right clicks to go through and activate but it also prevents me from triggering the event. Any ideas on how to prevent this? If I remove the if statement from the first click function everything works as intended.Here's my example code based off of the trigger event examples:
I have a triple drop down menu and when I select an option for first drop down, based on that I get the values populated in the second drop down but these values in the second drop down do not clear even though I change the change the option of my first drop down. I am facing this problem with Chrome. In Firefox it works fine.Could some one tell me how to clear the previous selection contents. I have pasted my code in the pastebin[URL]...
My goal is to get the value in the array from selection drop down list.Basically, I create an Array in Javascript and a selection drop down list in the body.
Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var even = new Array(2, 4, 6);
How can I make it so i can drag and drop usernames from one selection box to another?Here's the code of two selection boxes one of which would be populated with usernames and another is empty where you move the username into to register him as banned.
I have a simple html form that asks a user to select a state from a drop down list. Later, in the same form, there's a question that needs to display an image of the state they previously selected from the drop down menu. How can I accomplish this using javaScript?
suppose i have a html page with text, links and what ever else a page contains. On selection of Text on the html page i want to raise some event that will do something. But what that event is known as? By text selection i mean placing mouse pointer to some text and left clicking and moving the mouse either to left or right. Now when user selects some portion of text and releases the mouse's left click button a event should be raised. Obviously that event should know what was the selected text. So is it possible ?
In internet explorer I have no problems. I literally just taught myself flash so I am hoping there is an easy fix that I am not finding. I did not design or create the template for the original site, I am just upgrading and adding features to improve what was already there.
I enter information in a system based on the # of a report that comes in. So if I see a report that says "333" i want to enter specific information for "333" same with "444" and "555" and so on and so forth.So I want to have a drop down menu for 111, 222, 333, 444 etc.Basically what I need is, if I select the report # from the drop down menu, I want it to copy information from a HIDDEN textbox to the clipboard.
This code is able to display a table and show me state, County, Genus and GenusCount and also it shows when I select option as All for Counties in my drop down. it can based on which it can change my table and give me State, all the Counties, its Genus, GenusCount but when I select a particular County and then select for genus in my drop down menu. It is not working correctly. This is my code.http://paste.flingbits.com/m58f9160Example: If I select `Tennessee->Anderson->All` it should display in tables
Basically I'm making an order form that updates the Total Text Box at the bottom of the page depending upon which selection is made from the drop down box in the form,
