I can't seem to find an XML element when it has a prefix. Here is the example from the jQuery.parseXML() page. The only difference between the example and the code below is that I've used the element <foo:title> instead of <title>. I get no errors in my browser, but I also get no results appended to #someElement.
Does xml.find method work if the element has a prefix?

Why do I only get one element back. I thought that find should give me at least 3 elements.

I've got a rather odd situation (in so far as it is probably uncommon)- for a variety of reasons that I don't want to get into on here, I have to replace a DIV with another fairly similar DIV that has an identical ID to the original as well as several child elements that also have identical IDs to the content in the original DIV. This all happens after the page load is complete. The problem is that JQuery can't locate any of the new elements by ID. I assume that's because it's already generated a model of the DOM that contained elements with identical IDs, but now that the old IDs no longer correspond to valid objects, jquery has nothing to return when I search for the new elements.So question:Is there any way to force JQuery to rebuild the DOM model? Or alternatively, is there a way that I can force JQuery to index the new elements once they've been added to the page?

I have a ASP.NET gridview which is rendered as a HTML table. There are 2 columns in the grid. First column is a checkbox and second column is a input textbox in which the user will enter a amount. I want to be able to loop through the rows of the table using jquery to find out the rows that have a checked checkbox and then sum the value in the corresponding textbox in which the user will enter a amount. In my form, the user can check only one option: either
* ship to default address
* ship to new address
Both options are radio buttons. They both have the same instance name, but different ids. That way the user is forced to choose either one or the other.
My problem is that since both radio buttons have the same instance name, then I cannot get the value of the instance with JavaScript.

Can you see the problem? If I give them both different instance names, then I can get the value of "shipchoice" with:

but of course if there are two "shipchoice" instances, then I CANNOT access the shipchoice variable....it comes up "undefined".

I have a page I am working and I am having some trouble with: I need to show and hide areas based on a radio selection. I initally started using the show / hide feature in Jquery but the problem is the elements need to be removed but then put back if the user selects the radio buttonagain as it has form elements that have validaion on them. The validation is still trying to validate the form elements becuase they are still on the page but just not showing. This is the radio group the user makes the selection from:

I have HTML tags stored in XML. I want to be able to use these HTML elements with Javascript, just as you can with elements in document.body. How can it be done? (And don't try and tell me I should use server-side because I have written it all for Javascript and the project is nearly complete minus this and there are practical reasons for not doing this server-side. After all, anything is possible with Javascript!)
Let me explain:
- I have HTML templates such as this [URL]
- I want javascript to populate these templates then add them to my page
- The only way I know javascript can get this kind of data is by parsing XML
- I want to parse the XML then be able to use the HTML elements just like those in document.body
- As far as I'm aware, XML is the only good way of storing data for javascript. I don't want to store it in javascript variables (too much multiline data with " and '). Nor do I want to build it using document.createElement("div")... etc
As someone not yet with any experience in computer science etc, please ignore my poor terminology! However, I'm not a beginner when it comes to javascript.

I'm working on a script for a selection of a specific item. When I select a item the image should change, so far so good. But when I select an other item, the image of the item I selected before should change back and there is where I find myself stuck. This is my script so far
