JQuery :: Building Slider Controls To Target Specific Slides?
Mar 23, 2011
I have a slider set up that navigates fine using 'next' and 'prev' buttons. There are 14 slides and I have 5 buttons at top that I need to point to specific slides in the layout. Content is static and there will always be 14 slides, and the links will always link to the same slide. So I can manually set IDs for those slides and I can also manually designate each link to go to whatever slide... but I'm not sure how to move forward. My existing slider code is very basic:
I know you can use random multi-effects, but is it possible to specifically choose the fx used for each specific slide/image?Maybe it could be done by getting the class of the 'current' slide somehow? eg.
What I am trying to do is create a slider that auto scrolls 3-4 images from right to left with no controls. And if the user hovers over it, it stops so they can read the content that is featured. Everywhere I search there are bunch of plugins i.e. easyslider, s3slider, etc. that have tons of code that is greek to me. I tried using the easyslider code and changing things around for it to do what I want, but I was unsuccessful.
1) Feature a small set of icons that would be placed on the right-side of a div
2) If someone clicked on one of the icons, the component would slide out towards the right, featuring various UI elements (i.e. descriptive text and form elements). The component slides out to match the width of the content (not fixed width)
3) The slider slides back if the user clicks on the "X" in top right corner or moves their mouse/clicks outside the slider area.
4) A nice to have would be if the component is towards the right side of the screen, the component slides out left (so it does not go outside the screen area or show a horizontal slider on the bottom of the screen window).
A visual of what I am trying to accomplish can be found in the attached file.
I want to validate my forms when clicking only on submit button. Here is my code.
[Code]...
The problem is it fires the validation to every button in the form. how can I do the validation only for the submit button and skip the validation to other button clicks?
I'm in the midst of some volunteer work for my local roleplaying community, creating their website. I want to use a menu bar in the top with a <ul> and simple "a href"'s to switch between the main content. The content of each 'page' will be retrieved from a phpBB board using php.
I've chosen jQuery because I want to learn more about it and have stumpled upon this problem: How do I target a div, show that, and then hide the current one (or simply all other divs with a certain class). Maybe it has to be done the other way around, hide and then show, to prevent the page from being displayed in a weird way while they're swapping place.
If possible, I would also like to only load the content of the content divs when the menu button is clicked, so it doesn't take load time at first.
How would I target (with jQuery or normal javascript) the 5th and 6th li in an unsorted list for styling? I need to change the css for only 2 items in a list.
I'm looking for a content slider, somewhat like Coda Slider, but with the ability to load dynamically extra content. E.g. it loads only 4 slides (1 visible at the time), and when the user navigates to slide 3, I want it to load the next 4 slided. And on slide 7 again, etc.
I've been using the following to provide a moving background for the BODY element... but would very much like to apply this to the background inside a specific DIV element (with css id: #banner).
Code:
Any ideas how to modify the position of a specific DIV ?
I found a nice script over at jQuerry for Designers that I'm using in a Drupal site. It seems to work fine, except for that every anchor tag on the page triggers the script! how can i adjust the script to target a specific anchor (currently has an ID of "test") and ignore all other anchor tags? here's the script, its placed in an external .js file:
I need to build a slider. which is not there in the page when it loads. then after few seconds it appears and slides from the right hand side of the window and stops at some position on the screen. then after few seconds it changes its image into another one. each and every one of the images has a different displaying time. that time is a database data and i have to specify it accordingly... I have no idea how to do this and i am a newbie to javascript. i don't know whether javascript can do this, maybe another technology..
I have a form with two slider on it so the user can select an amount. The slider works fine and passes the values to email ok etc. but when the page is loaded there is "[object Object]" in box of the second slider. I can't find the problem with the code as it is the same for the first slider.
1.I found a Slider Toggle thats demonstrated here [URL] and it seems to work fine but only if the link is placed above the div that slides down.. im trying to make the div slide down from above my menu and i want 1 of the links on my menu to toggle the slider. how do i get it work to where I can place the link below the sliding div? 2. the script originally used .fader{opacity:0;display:none;} but I wanted the slider div to be visible if javascript was disabled so I added
jQuery(".fader").hide(); so its now <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { jQuery(".fader").hide(); $(".fadeNext").click(function(){ $(this).next().fadeSliderToggle() [Code]...
I have to change the slider color depending on its value, but I didn't manage to do it, I changed the attribute "background" of the class "ui-slider-range" this way : $("#slider.ui-slider-range").css("background","red"); Since I have three states (red, orange and green) I have to use three sliders, each one has one color, all hidden at the beginning then I show the appropriate slider when the value changes.
I've got the following problem: I have a Jquery slider and I want to disable the click on the slider. I only want to change the slider when I click and drag the pointer. Standard you can also click everywhere on the slider and the pointer will go to that point. That I don't want. .
I have a php code that creates a select combo box depending on some values stored in a database and I am trying to make it look nicer I found the jquery slider I found this but it does not work in the environment I am working (joomla) well, it does but it disappears as soon as I move the slider. so if I had
i want to submit form data from the popup window, close the popup, and load in the main window. problem is, it always opens a new 'tab'. i'm using google chrome, i didn't think to try this in
in the <head> of the 'main' window: <script language='javascript' type='text/javascript'> window.name='main'; </script>
What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?
However my problem occurs when the user uses the browsers back arrow to return to the previous page, the script executes again returning them once more to the page they have come from. Is anyone aware of a work around to this problem as it would seem there isn't one? perhaps even a better solution for opening the target page from the iframe as top location. This is really causing confusion for users, and I really need to get the issue fixed.
I have this script here. Hope i can paste the code. Please click on the login tab on the right side. The issue is, the tab slides down as well as grows. Please help. It should only slide down, not grow.
I'm trying to show multiple slides at once using jQuery Cycle. In most others forums I've seen people get directed to this demo: [URL]
I am to achieve what's there, visually, but I want each slide to move individually; so in the example provided only one slide would move to the left at a time rather than all three.
this is what i like to do. a menu which moves out of the bottom, when the mouse is over the menubar. the whole div-tag(menu) should slide 200px up. when the mouse is moving out of the menu area, it should slide don to starting position.
