I have autocomplete working for a list of colors(red, green, blue, etc). I created an array of $id's to match each color. For example if someone types and selects "red", I want it to go to a page like mypage.php?id=1. How can I (1) parse the ids in the array and (2) implement the result() function so that it links to a page and posts the proper $id? I have a live example with source code here: [URL].. and if you would be kind enough to be as explicit as you can with examples on how to make an autocomplete result link to a page and pass an $id.[URL]..
JSON.parse: unexpected end of dataat line var data = JSON.parse(json);Is the syntax correct?the code used is:For the code below i am getting this error :
I have a coldfusion data component that receives two arguments and runs a stored procedure and returns a large data set. I want to use a textbox with autocomplete its data is that result set. I do not want to convert the result set to an array for performance.
In the "RM" array there are three objects, each a single name/value pair. The name of the array[0] object ("DEFAULT") is identical to the name of the array[2] object. No results are returned by the getJSON call. Since each object is a separate array value, there shouldn't be any object name collision problems. Note that if I change the name of the array[2] object to "DEFAULT3", the data structure is handled properly.
does 'focus' method show a 'stable' result? i call this method on a node if this one is not absolutely positioned it seems nothing happens.so does this method only apply to absolutely positioned element?also, in FF, aNode.focus() has no effect whereas in IE document will scroll until that node is visible if the node is partially invisible at the bottom.is this a bug in FF?scroll the document until the text is half-visible at the bottom. click on it in IE it will scroll up while in FF nothing happens besides, if it is not absolutely positioned, nothing happens either.
I am developing a web application in java (jsp's and servlets). For the project I am working on I will need to develop an html data entry screen and the code to load data into the screen, and then save the data back to the back-end database.
How to do the following: Read the data out of the database (JDBC, no problem) in a servlet. Put the data into the appropriate form for returning to the data entry screen, which will be a jsp. (Is JSON the right choice for passing the data from the servlet to the jsp?)
In the jsp, parse the returned data and populate the HTML form elements (text fields and combo boxes). When a button is clicked, pull the data out of the form elements and return to a servlet for saving back in the database.
I've started working with the jQuery UI 1.8 Autcomplete recently with remote data. I was pleased with the ease of initial implementation, but before long I ran into a classic race condition.As I type, the search query gets more specific, so it takes less time for the server respond. As a consequence, it is possible for the old response to arrive after the most recent one. Obviously, this is producing undesirable effects.I'm a little frustrated that the plugin doesn't have a way to manage this. To me, it seems that it makes the "basic" remote data implementation unreliable in most real-world situations. It also seems as though this would be a common problem, but I've found very little literature on it.
I've found that autocomplete is a relatively new addtion to jQuery UI, so I've put the frustration aside and started my own widget which extends autocomplete to solve for three things: 1) race conditions; 2) animated open/close; 3) caching.The nature of this post is two-fold. Not only to share information I've gathered on the topic of race conditions with others who might be having the same trouble, but to (hopefully) gain some insight to how other people are solving for this.The first piece of this puzzle was that $.ajax() (and related methods) return an XMLHTTPRequest instance. As described at stackoverflow.com, this grants us the ability to use XMLHTTPRequest.abort() method. So I just keep a handle to the XMLHTTPRequest instance, and if it exists, call abort() before the next request is made.Using a firebug, I could see that the requests were being aborted as expected and the symptoms of the race-condition ceased. So far, so good... then I got to IE. Not so much.In IE, I was seeing run-time errors. The odd thing is that the run-time errors seemed to be coming from deep within jQuery UI, rather than my code yet commenting out the abort() avoided the run-times. After scratching my head for a while, I used the following simplified code to shed some light on the situation:[code]
In Firefox and Chrome, behavior is as expected - no alert box. However, in IE6 and IE8 (IE7 untested at this time), the success handler still fires! As it turns out, the run-time errors were because the response was undefined as it got passed through my success code path. My next thought was, "maybe I can just evaluate textStatus". Unfortunately, it turns out (as seen in the alert box) it contains the string "success".
I am using jquery autocomplete combobox I load more than 25000 data. I set minLength:3, delay: 700, When I start typing three characters, in the third character ie8 shows the "Stop running this script" how to handle this huge amount of data
So I'm currently working on a ASP.NET Webforms site and I've run in to a small problem. On my .cs file I have the following Webmethod
[WebMethod] public static string IsJobEditable(int jobid){ try{ string isEditable = "false"; JobsBLL jbl = new JobsBLL(); int jobStatusId = jbl.GetJobStatusId(jobid); //If the jobs is either waiting or being edited it is okay to edit it if(jobStatusId == Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Waiting) || jobStatusId == Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Edit)){ isEditable = "true"; }return isEditable; }catch (Exception ex){ throw ex; }}
This function in this case will ALWAYS return TRUE as a string. On Aspx page I have the following $(function () { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Coordination.aspx/IsJobEditable", data: "{jobid:" + jobid + "}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "text", success: function (result) { alert(result);
//This is written out in the alert {"d":"true"} I want this in a variable as a string so I can do a check on it before I do some other actions. The format is not a String so I cannot split on it to retrieve the "true" part. }, error: function (err, result) { alert(err); } });});
As you can see in the comments the value I get back in the Callback method is in to me a weird format. The type is unknown and I need this value to be able to proceed with my entire method surrounding the small portion of the Javascript. Where to access the result variable / data as a var or anything else that will let me put it into a var (as a string).
I'm about to embark on developing a class which, given a field name and server-side script, will "auto-complete" or "suggest" entries already entered in the database.
Does anyone have a library or patch to call a handler if a user leaves an autocomplete field without choosing one of the autocomplete options - i.e. they've entered free text. I'm working with an app that populates multiple fields from a single auto-complete value, and our latest requirement is to clear out a bunch of fields if the user's entered something manually - rejecting autocomplete suggestions. My initial attempts at hooking into onkeyfoo and onblur haven't lead anywhere productive, and I'm hoping someone else has managed to overcome the gnarly event and timing dependencies involved with onkeyfoo and blur being used for standard autocomplete behaviour.
im using greasmonkey with jquery and i want to find the remaining time on a page then display it in my infomation bar in game but what im having trouble with is the regxp trying to get the text then get the 1,2 or 3 didgit number between the text here is my current function which gets the numbers on the page but returns a HUGE number because its returning every number
Does anyone know where I can find an ASP server side script written in JavaScript to parse text fields from a form method='POST' using enctype='multipart/form-data'? I'd also like it to parse the filename.
I found a great ASP VBScript for uploading files, but the rest of my Web site is coded in ASP using JavaScript and I can't figure out a way to immediately pass the text fields already parsed from server side VBScript to server side JavaScript.
My ASP code looks like this:
<script language="JavaScript" runat="server"> //I would like to add JavaScript to parse the text field and filename of file1 here. </script> <!--The 3rd party document below parses all fields from the message content and uploads any file fields it encounters.---> <!--#include file="aspinclude/upload.asp"--> <script language="JavaScript" runat="server"> //Add record here (title1, filename from file1). </script>
