JQuery :: Attaching Validation Plugin Callback To Modal Form Button
Jun 5, 2011
I am trying to use the jquery validation plugin with a modal form. When I click the 'Make a booking' button shown below there is no response. I guess there's something about the dom I am missing, which tends to be the case quite often.
$('body').click(function(event) {
if ($(event.target).is('a.add')) {
event.preventDefault();
$( '#dialog-add' )
.dialog( 'open' );
}});
$( "#dialog-add" ).dialog({
autoOpen: false,
height: 340,
width: 400, .....
draggable: false,
position: "center",
resizable: false,
modal: true,
buttons: {
"Make a booking": function() {
$('#addbooking').validate({
submitHandler: function(form) {
//ajax
});
$( this ).dialog( "close" );
}});},
Cancel: function() {
$( this ).dialog( "close" );
}},
close: function() {
}});

I'm having troubles with an existing J2EE application (which uses Dojo) and in which I'm gradually introducing jQuery. The specific issue is with the malsup Form plugin and the JSON returned from a form submission: the error callback is always called, regardless of what happens on the server side, and the error is always "parsererror". I'm using jQuery 1.4.2 and the 2.45 version of the malsup Form plugin.
For example, given the following code:
$(document).ready(function() {
var options = {
dataType: 'json',[code]....
the server receives the submission and handles it without errors, then in the browser I always get the same alert from the processAddressEditSubmitError() function, with an "Invalid JSON" message:
pStatus=parsererror
pErrorText=Invalid JSON: {"nickname":"trytrez","success":"success"}
However, the JSON looks OK for me (and http:[url]...agrees that it is valid).

I'm using the Validation plugin for JQuery and was wondering if there was a function to submit the form without causing it to validate the form. I have a table with a list of radio-buttons and above that is a drop down list of states. The drop down list of states is used to filter the table rows and when the selected item changes it posts-back to the server (via $("#frm").submit()). I don't want this to cause any validation to occur. Is there another function I can call besides submit(), or some other method?

I have a lightbox script, that I want to attach to an event to recall it based on values changed.Could you tell me why this works:
$("a[rel^='prettyPhoto']").prettyPhoto();
Opposed to this:
$("a[rel^='prettyPhoto']").click(function(){$(this).prettyPhoto();});
Or this:
$("a[rel^='prettyPhoto']").click(function(){$("a[rel^='prettyPhoto']").prettyPhoto();});

I need help with the Validation plugin. I have a form with a required field. When the form is valid I want the form to submit and I also want to disable the submit button. I have a function that does the disabling, but I'm not sure how to call this function within the
"validate" method. Here is my simple call the the validate method.
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#myForm").validate()
});
and here is my disable function --
jQuery.fn.diableOnSubmit = function() {
var input=this.find("input.submit")
input.click(function () {

About the jquery Validation plugin. I need to lock the submit button on some forms to prevent multiple submissions, but I don't want to permanently lock it, in case there's a validation problem that the user needs to resolve. I did come up with a way to temporarily lock it and change the text to "Saving, Please Wait..." for a few seconds, then revert it to an unlocked submit button.
The problem I'm having is that this conflicts somehow with the jquery validation plugin. Some fields that have error messages if the user attempts to submit the form with missing data. If I use the temporary locking submit button (which uses an animation to create a duration) then these error messages do not display.
Is it possible to test for a validation value in a separate function before running this lock function? If valid, lock, if not valid, don't lock, because it isn't possible to submit an invalid form anyway. I tried wrapping the locking submit function in a setTimeout, but that didn't have any effect at all in delaying it.

I'm using the jQuery form validation plugin along with the fileinput plugin which hides the initial input area, but uses <divs> and some styling /javascript to show the file input field.The issue I am having, is that the 'this field is required' text that is meant to show on submission, doesn't come up for the file input field, nor some checkboxes that I have in a table. I am guessing that this is because the code is needing the label to be RIGHT next to the element (in this case the file input or the checkbox) in order for the validation message to show..Are there any work arounds that anyone knows of so that I can get the error message to show?Is there a way to show the error message for required fields when they have a div wrapping them or anything wrapping them?

There are so many plugins for modal dialogs that I don't know which one should I use and/or which one is the best... I mean, if there was only one plugin of this type including all the features from all the modal plugins, that would be cool. Which one do you think it's the best and why? Care to state the pros and cons of each plugin (or the ones you know/have already tested)?

I have a form with 2 button elements in it. Button elements are usedbecause they are much easier to style as needed.
<form id="testform" method="post" name="testform">
<input type="text" value="" name="firstname" id="firstname"/>
<button class="button ci_btn_shdw" value="Save As New " name="_event
[code]...
I am using the jquery form plugin submit the form by ajax. Everything works great in all browsersexcept for Safari and Chrome. The problem in Safari and Chrome isthat the name of the button that was pressed does not get sent back.My guess is that the form plugin is getting confused by the spaninside the button and not grabbing the name from the button element.

I've got a JQuery Mobile form working across multiple "pages", even though it is a single HTML file.This is done by placing the opening form tag before the <div data-role="page"id="screen1"> tag, and closing it after the final losing page div tag. Works great.Currently the form validation is properly flagging each field as the user leaves it.The only trouble I am having is making the continue button at the bottom of each screen disabled until the visible invalid fields pass validation.Here's the simplified version of the code:
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>

When the SaveExit or Save buttons are clicked, the form is to be validated. When the Exit button is clicked, the form is NOT to be validated. How can I do this with the Validate Plugin 1.7 from [URL]. Is this possible?
