JQuery :: When Using .post(), Page Is Reloaded And Serialized Data Being Added To The URL?

Dec 24, 2010

I'm trying to make an ajax post to some php and whenever the user clicks the submit button, it reloads the page and is adding the serialized data to the URL thus breaking the page and giving me an error that I do not have a person selected. I've tried adding "return false;" everywhere I can and it still doesn't work. Here's my code:

// EDIT CONTACT AJAX

$("editForm").submit(function() {

$.post("/ajax/edit-contact.php", $("editForm").serialize(),
function(data) {[code]...

// I've tried adding a "return false;" here and it doesn't work
}
// I've tried adding a "return false;" here and it doesn't work

);
// I've tried adding a "return false;" here and it doesn't work

JQuery :: Serialize Method Isn't Serializing Form Elements That Are Added To The DOM After The Page Load

Jun 24, 2011

I'm having a problem where the serialize method isn't serializing form elements that are added to the DOM after the page load. Specifically, when the user clicks on a button some elements are displayed in a dialog that are generated from my server and returned via AJAX. I'm converting from Prototype and didn't run into this problem.

JQuery :: Appending To Appended Elements?

Nov 18, 2010

What is the proper way to .append to an element that has been appended? I'm creating a unordered list via jQuery and attempting to append list elements to said list but those elements, loaded from an XML file, duplicate themselves when I do this.

When I append those list elements to an html element that is hard coded into my html file, this does not happen.

I'm very new to jQuery, and am pretty sure I'm screwing up the selector - it's the 'data' object used in the success callback (is that the right word?)

JQuery :: Appending Doesn't Create More Than One New Element?

Aug 16, 2011

I'm trying to allow a user to add several data items. I'm using append to add a new row where they can enter data. However, the element count only seems to get to one (the newest added) and does not create an array of elements like i was hoping.

[Code]...

In the above, i can successfully add new rows. But the item "the-data" will always alert that it has a length of 1, no matter how many rows are added. how I can add several of an element with the same name and have it recognized in the DOM?

JQuery :: Appending AJAX Response Data To Calling Element?

Jun 3, 2009

I have a list where each list item has a click event attached to it. Upon clicking a list item, the click calls a PHP script and passes the list's title attribute as a parameter to the script. How can I take the data returned (some HTML) from the AJAX call and append it to the list item which was clicked? I know that the data variable contains the correct HTML coming back from the script and thought that $ (this).append(data) would work but it doesn't. I was thinking of calling another function from within the AJAX return function call, but don't know how to reference the list item which was originally clicked.

$('li').click(function(){
$.get('script.php',{folder:$(this).attr('title')},function(data){
?
});
});

JQuery :: Get Notified When New DOM Elements Are Added?

Apr 19, 2010

The requirement is, "save" operation should happen only when the form is "dirty". i.e., users should be able to save only when they modify something on the form.

For this, I'm using "dirty form plugin", which works fine even when new elements are added. It internally uses ".liveQuery()" for adding events to new elements but it is degrading the performance very badly, since our forms are very large. I'm trying to replace it with ".live" of jQuery 1.4.2, but have a problem.

When new elements are added, I want to store their initial values and on blur, i want to compare them with their latest values. I'm able to bind event handlers to new elements using ".live()", but I want to get notified when new elements are added, so that I can make the above check. Is there any way how I can check this?

JQuery :: How To Post Back A Variable

Nov 22, 2010

I am trying to write code to allow a person select one photo to be their base image or Front cover image on a photo album. I am using jquery .post to get the form check box values which are the image file names and then use post to throw them to a php file and then update the database.

Now thats cool so far and that part works. Now the problem is that I need the main photo album picture to be replaced once the .post if completed or succeeded. I need to refresh the main image. Right now the only way to do it is to hit the refresh button on your web browser. Yet I want to do this without refreshing the page.

The Image displayed already is in a image html tag with a id named user_main I was thinking is it possible for .post to pass back to javascript a variable that has the image source and is there any way to update that image tag easily like where it says src="path to image" is located.

Would like to know the best way to refresh the image without having to refresh the page.

JQuery :: Get ID Of Dynamically Added HTML Elements?

Aug 16, 2010

I am generating HTML based on user actions (in this case, populating a table with the result from AJAX calls).

In my context, I have a link where there is a Quantity field, which I would like to be editable. When I create the html, I give a unique ID to each row, (to reference to a JSON object), however I am unable to get the ID for said row, seeing as the DOM tree is parsed on the pageload and doesn't seem to update when I add elements to the page.

This means that $(this).parent('tr').attr('id') is not returning anything at all.

How would I make it so I can retrieve the ID of my row (which was created/added to the page after it was parsed)?

Go To Top Of Page - Hide The Google Player Until An Onclick Event Actually Occurs

Jul 22, 2009

Here's my page.

[url]

I'm having 3 small issues with the page as it is.

First, I'd like to hide the Google Player until an onclick event actually occurs.

Second, at the moment, there's only an onclick for the image maps over the tracks list, and no href, which means the cursor never changes to the finger cursor, letting folks know there's a link there.

Last, when you click on a link, I'd like to the page to move its focus back to the top of the page (not reload, obviously). Instead, it just stays where you are, and the user has to manually scroll to see the full album art graphic.

Here are the relevant parts of the code:
