Trying to combine a random script with jQ "load()":from a collection of pages
var pp = ["page1.htm", "page2.htm", "page3.htm" ];
in folder "loadpp"
loading into <div id="pagehere">
function loadPage() {
$('#pagehere').load('loadpp/' + pp[ Math.floor(Math.random()*pp.length) ]);
}
I've tried several combinations of quotes. Clicking the link repeatedly gives the same FF error message, for line 2 of different pages from the array—which seems to indicate that the random part is firing. But no page loads. Loading any page singly works ok. Sure, it must be something simple I'm missing...
Can someone point me to method for loading random image (in container) on pageload? I have three image containers and I want to load a new image in each one at each pageload, but I want to be sure no two images are the same at the same time (if that makes sense!).
I am new to jQuery and have managed to create a tabbed interface with 4 sections. When the page loads, the tab content of section 1 shows up and the user can click on the others links to show other sections. In other words, tab 1 is always the first to be "active." However, I want to have a random "active" tab every time the page loads, so that other sections can be "active" as well randomly. Once the page loads with the random active tab, then the user can click to look at other sections.
So to start out, this is my first post on CodingForums! :) I've only recently started learning web development so I figured it would be a good idea to get involved with some active forums.
I am trying to open a random page in a frame, but I am trying to call the Javascript to do so in another frame. I currently have an html page with a frameset which has two frames. One of the frames is a toolbar that sits at the top of the page and it has an image that acts as button. When the user clicks on this image, the bottom frame generates a random page from an array of links I have hardcoded into the Javascript. The bottom frame is just set to google.com as a default because I couldn't really think of anything to put in an html file there.
The problem I'm having is when I click on the image to open a random page in the bottom frame, nothing happens. The code for all the files are below. code...
I have huge page of links, to whcih I am currently adding. I would like to add a "random link" button which would parse the current page, extract all URLs then load a random link.
Does anyone know of a scipt that will rotate random div layers on page refresh? I have a primary content area front and center on my site homepage, and I'd like to rotate various chunks of html (in div layers) each time a user reloads the page. Right now I'm resorting to a random image rotation (those scripts are a dime a dozen) on refresh, but it's far from ideal for what I'm trying to accomplish.
Can a random page be loaded without a prior visit to a site?
I have a list of 15 people with a photo and contact information in a table with 3 columns and 5 rows. The issue is that the people near the bottom want a chance to be at the top the first time the page is viewed. It is unlikely that a second visit would happen.
Is this possible to load a random page for a site without it being viewed or logged into before, therefore no cookies will be used.
I have a client that wants a new background image every time page is reloaded. I thought I have to script and thought I had it working but when I applied it to all my pages from a template I made in dreamweaver it doesn't work. It only works on the template.
See code below. <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function MM_goToURL() { //v3.0 var i, args=MM_goToURL.arguments; document.MM_returnValue = false; for (i=0; i<(args.length-1); i+=2) eval(args[i]+".location='"+args[i+1]+"'"); }
I'm trying to use Javascript to have an array of images that load randomly AND work in a slideshow manner so change every 3 seconds (in a logical order). The code I have below presents a random image but how do I get them to continue from the random image and change to the next every 3 seconds?
Following code. I wanted to generate a set of random number on the pinpad everytime the page is being loaded. (1-9 but the number can only appear once)
I wanted help for a JavaScript code. You might think I'm lazy for not writing it myself, but the truth is I am not a JavaScript coder. I just have a really simple website and I am trying to do something for which I know JS is required but I don't know how to do it. I've also searched around but couldn't find the appropriate code.
What I want to do is to make an html page load a different background image every time it refreshes.I will have a list of background images and I want to be able to add in this list, without having to change anything else in the codes after I do this (I think this is made by making an array of images and by putting .length somewhere in the codes, but I don't know exactly how I should do this).I already know how to do an external file (.js) and link to it from my .html page.Now I want the code to put in the .js file, and the code to put in the <body> of my .html file.
I need a script which click on random links on my webpage after page load?i have javascript code which open only link which i write in script but i want the code which click on any available link on my webpage the links change after every 10-15 seconds so i cant set a spacefic link in code...
I've looked for a solution to this issue, but it seems like a little different scenario than other situations. I made a system for generating friend requests on Facebook. I have a grid that is 6 x 3, for a total of 18 cells. Each cell has a picture in it, and the picture is linked to the Facebook friend request page. My problem is that since each cell is populated at random from the array, I'm getting lots of repeats. For example, some picutures are in 5 cells, and some are in none. I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that once a picture is used once in the grid, it does not get used again in the same grid.I still want every cell filled at random on each page load, I just want to prevent the repeating.
Here's my current code: <script type="text/javascript"> var vip_list=new Array( new Array('http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/v225/1616/88/s1220771654_2158.jpg','http://www.facebook.com/addfriend.php?id=1220771654'), new Array('http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/v223/1233/29/s904885342_9055.jpg','http://www.facebook.com/addfriend.php?id=904885342'),
I am trying to put an image on the front page of my website that changes to one of two random images on mouseover. This part was easy, and has been done (I got the code from [URL] But what I am finding difficult is to make each image link to a different page. For example, if the user mouseovers the main image and sees the 'thumbs up' image, then clicks on it, they should be taken to the 'thumbs up' page. And if the user mouseovers the main image and sees the 'thumbs down' image, then clicks on it, they should be taken to the 'thumbs down' page. The site is here: [URL] I think using 2 arrays is the way to go, but am not sure.
For my website I would like to create a famous last words generator (randomized), and random page generator (within my site). What is the code for random quotes and random links?
I am new to javascript but have been using java for quite a while. I am looking to make a random quote (out of ten possible quotes) appear in my h2 tag in a page i am working on. In java, i would make a random number generator, in javascript it looks like this:
Code: var randomnumber=Math.floor(Math.random()*11) Then make an if statement: Code: if randomnumber=1 { var quote="Live long and prosper" }
document.write(var quote); Could someone more experienced than me tell me if my code looks good and how would a go about getting "var quote" in my h2 tag?
I have a web site which main page is index2.html I need a script that when I refresh the page it takes me to index3.html or index#.html in a random fashion. the list of index numbers is 10 so far.
I have some image URLs stored in an array. I then want to be able to print out one of those image URLs randomly on page load. What would be the best method to do this in jQuery?
I wasn't able to find a plugin that does what I'm hoping to do. Please take a look at the little diagram to (hopefully) help understand my question.
I am building a site that is utilizing a lightbox-type plugin to display a gallery of images when the user clicks image A, B, C, etc. However, what I would also like to do is set up the main content area (area '1' above) to load a random image from the row below (A, B, C, etc.) each day or two in order to highlight a different gallery/project.
I have seen a number of random image plug-ins, but is it possible to load an entire element from the same page? For example, if image A has a structure of: <a href="../images/photos/image01.jpg" rel="example1" title="Image Title">Grouped Photo 1</a> How would I set up area 1 to load that element and its attributes randomly on.pageload, and then, every couple of days, load another random element?
Basically, I am wrapping a span around each letter of a link element, so i can apply a random class to it - thus creating a rainbow effect on text. My sticking point is that successive letters can't be the same colour, nor can the first letter of successive links.
So 'Link1' wouldn't be acceptable as L and i have the same colour, nor would 'Link1 Link2' as the two L's have the same colour. Also, the code I'm using to append the spans to each letter is also appending a span to any spaces in the links, is there a way I can stop this? I've attached all the files I'm using.
On the example I've attached, I have made each links first letter successive, so the colours will never be the same. I've also made spans from the second letter onwards so they'll never be the same - but occasionally it'll throw up a clash where the first and second letters of each link are the same colour.
But trying to load the HTML it didn't work. Would you be able to explain me why and how this problem could be fixed? I have tried several alternatives, checked the error console all the time, but they all failed as well.
