Page Level Onmousedown - Add A Global Event Handler For Mousedown That Will Register Whenever The User Clicks Anywhere On The Page?
Apr 22, 2010I want to add a global event handler for mousedown that will register whenever the user clicks anywhere on the page but I'm having trouble.This is what I'm trying to do:

body.addEventListener(mouseDown, myHandler);[code]....
But the event handler is never called. I can't even seem to get access to the body. Is the body tag the wrong place to be assigning the mousedown handler? I'm trying to make this code work correctly in both IE and firefox.
W/ Navigation Include & Maintaining Onmousedown Image?
Mar 6, 2009I am currently using multiple include files with my website and my issue is specifically with my navigation include. All I'm using is a simple unordered list with images for list items. Ofcourse each list item/link takes you to a another page. I have up, over, and down images for each menu list item. What I need to figure out is how to keep the associated menu item's down image active when taken to the associated page.I'm assuming it might entail some Javascript within the navigation include or per list item that tells the browser to keep the down image active when landing on a certain URL. I don't know what that code is.

This part was easy, and has been done (I got the code from [URL] But what I am finding difficult is to make each image link to a different page. For example, if the user mouseovers the main image and sees the 'thumbs up' image, then clicks on it, they should be taken to the 'thumbs up' page. And if the user mouseovers the main image and sees the 'thumbs down' image, then clicks on it, they should be taken to the 'thumbs down' page. Unfortunately it goes wrong when the user double clicks on a one of many text links that provides the info for the display on reload. How do I stop users from double clicking on the page? What I am wanting to happen is upon clicking submit at bottom of form, it should run a check to make sure all questions have been answered. So far it catches all the text boxes, but it's not catching the radio buttons or drop down boxes.. I have all of this under 1 form name ( is this where my problem is located? do I need to seperate into different form names based on type?) I am not wanting the answer given too me ( at least not yet ). I have done a search for multiple types of validation. But nothing seemed to clcik... Also Do I need another validation set up point for the Month, Date, year Drop down boxes?

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out why this line of code is not making my images display in the background:

Problem: No images load, and I believe I don't fully understand the .appendTo tage.. I don't know if #body is correct. The author of the plugin assumed I understood the relation. Also #homePage may be incorrect as well.
Additionally, I found another plugin that worked for placing an image in the background (not random), and the background image would scale to size, according the users window. I loved that and it worked, just wanted to add random images to the same script.... first things first... I can't even get an image to display at all with the above code.
In case you wanted to know the script I was using to scale the background image, here it is below (although, as you will see in the code for my site - this image feature is disabled as I am trying to make adjustments).

Feb 16, 2011Here's what I usually use and have been using for years and it works great, just not for this particular purpose. I don't have a clue when it comes to javascript.

But, now I want to be able to set a default picture to be shown first and have the random pics appear next. I also don't want the default pic to show up again in the random array. So basically, every time the page was first visited, or refreshed it would show the default picture then move into the random pics.

I've looked at prop(), val(), and attr(), and just don't know where to start. Should I select $('#set_q157 input') or$('#set_q157 input:radio'), or each individual radio?
Do I need to each them, and check if its checked, then change its value, or is there a way to select all three inputs as just one radial button? It would also need to work if the input has not yet been checked.

1. how can i have it so when i click the thumbnail, it fades in a different image (rather than just a larger version of the thumbnail)?

Aug 29, 2010Im trying to have a click event that replaces an image on the page with a new image that has been selected randomly from an array. I have solved PART of this already (can get the random image to appear).
However, instead of appearing on the page where the old image was, the new image appears in a blank page.
My research indicates that this blank page location-problem is a result of using document.write in the Function. Therefore, I know I need to find a different way to accomplish this, but am failing miserably.
I have been trying for hours and hours and HOURS to figure out proper syntax for accomplishing this via elements, functions, variables and mootools.

May 14, 2007The world map (an image map) that I have shows three continents; namely, America, Asia, and Europe. They are in yellow color. This world map is placed in a HTML file.
Every continent is clickable. By clicking on a continent; say, America, I pop up a window in which some information America is displayed.
And when a continent is active, its color on the map is changed to orange color. Therefore, I have made three more image maps: America is in orange color, Asia is in orange color, and Europe is in orange color.
How do I switch image (i.e. showing the orange color of the continent) after a certain continent is clicked by users?
