JQuery :: Add / Remove Div Object Using Select Menu?

I'm beginner in jQuery and trying to write "add/remove div object" script.
I found on web some examples how to do it but... there's two problems.
Firstly I want to add some DIV when user choose any value from select list html object and absolutely don't know how to do it...
Secondly - every new DIV object created by select list from html must have (inside of this div) something like "remove me link" which of course should deleted this DIV from page.

If I have html of

and I have loaded

the above html into a var and I only want to remove the
<div class="editableToolbar clearfix">
<a href="#" class="edit"></a><a href="#" class="delete"></a>
</div> part.
I cant use .remove as it will remove all the divs from the page. I only want to remove the one div contained in the var .

I have a problem with my menu. I am trying to add and remove classes when clicking on the main menu links. For instance when on load, the 'Home' is the current tab clicked, but when I click on 'Contact Me' I would like the class current to be removed from 'Home' and added to

I'm having problems with a Javascript 'Lookup' function.
Basically, I have a select menu 'Customer' which triggers a 3 JS functions, to populate 2 extra select menus.
Using IE Developer Tools, during debugging, I get this error: Expected ';' Error
This relates to either: eval(ajax_CustContact[index].response); OR eval(ajax_CostCentreContact[index].response); (it's a bit random, as sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)
I have tried changing the 'custid' to 'custname' to check whether it was an integer causing the problem, but had the same problem.

i am using the object flash embed instead of the swfobject or flashobject because I am embedding using js innerHTML. Is there a way to loose the dotted border in IE that swfobject fixes? The movie needs no interactivity its just a swf animation.

i'm adding items to a select list like this:

I have read many of the copius entries on the subject of IE performance (or
the lack thereof) when populating Select Lists.
I don't mind the insert performance so much, (I get 100x120byte rows
inserted/sec up to 500, and 100rows/6secs up to 3000, which isn't great but
then the Row Count is clicking away for the user to see and they can hit the
"cancel" button at anytime, so overall I'm happy), what really disappoints
me is the woeful of .REMOVE()!
Before fetching the next result-set I clear down the existing options (I
*do* have to do this don't I?) by looping through option collection calling
remove(1). (Would it be quicker if I removed the last option? Option[0] is a
header.) For 3000 rows this takes an unbelievable 20+secs :-( Does this
sound about right?
1) Is it only IE that performs badly on this?
2) Is there a quicker or more efficient way of zeroing the Select List?
2a) The w3schools ref says the "length" attribute "Returns the number of
options in a dropdown list" it doesn't say "sets Or returns"
2b) The French guy (Stephane?) suggested that I should just set the length
to zero, but wouldn't that result in a memory leak?
3) Do I need to create a malloc/realloc function that keeps a high-water
mark of available option objects for this Drop Down and only "new" some more
options when that's exceeded? (But then the Length would always be off)
4) Use tables and not select lists?
5) Use another browser

I am trying to make a simple code that has a selection list (with the choice fruit or veggie). When the user chooses fruit, the second list displays the options apple, orange, banana. When the user changes their choice to veggie, the second select list then contains carrot, corn, potatoes (and the apple, orange, banana disappear).
how to do this/ code...

I have an svg object set with hover (or mouseover-out) to animate the superfish menu. When the mouse enters the svg, the menu appears, on leaving it should disappear. (same problem with div so not an svg problem)
(testing with FF5.01) Problem: mouseover, or hover work fine, but when I add a second function to remove the menu, I get a blinking menu. I assume its a conflict with the menu's own hover?

this is for a test, am not sure what they mean by "do not hard-code the resulting quarter years in the javascript":
Instructions: when a user selects a date from the investment cycle drop-down box, the subsequent investment values must display the next three fiscal quarters. (e.g. for "January 2010", the subsequent quarters will be Q2 2010, Q3 2010, Q4 2010; for "June 2010", the subsequent quarters will be Q3 2010, Q4 2010, Q1 2011.)
Do not hard-code the resulting quarter years in the javascript (empahsis mine...;-)
The subsequent quarters should be presented with checkboxes which are all unchecked.
My markup for the checkboxes:
The values to populate the checkboxes (value and label) have to be hardcoded somewhere, no? what am I missing?
(and, since markup doesn't change when u set value for chkbx dynamically, how do you check that you have set correct value for the checkbox? (don't know if it shows in Firebug, since don't know if code have there now is correct (have this funky code in there for now.. not sure how to approach this...$('#checkbox1').attr('value', 'Q2 2010');
And how do I populate label? (<label for=""....></label> -- do I need to give label an id? or can you grab "for" attr for a label with jQuery?)

say i have a select menu "select1" with several options available. And a color "color" menu with several options for color. Inside my "select1" option list i have a "variety" option.With this option selected i no longer need the "color" menu at all. I need a javascript or jquery that will make it so that when "variety" is selected it then hides the "color" select menu.

I have searched the web and this forumn with no results. I need to replace the value in a second select menu with the value from the firts select menu. So if I select ACD from the first menu it should go thru all the option values in menu 2 and replace the '~' with 'Computing'
