Jun 24, 2011I've gotten .load to load content into a div but if the window is not at the top of the page it scrolls back to the top each time the new content is loaded but I wanted to avoid any sort of change on the page other than the content in the div. It seems pointless if the user has to scroll back down to the div where the content is each time? code...
Is there a way to keep the window in the same position? Also while I'm at it - is there a more efficient way to write this considering I have 9 pages or should I just write this code out for each instance?

May 29, 2009I am trying to create portlets that dynamically load their content (usinq jQuery). My first approach was to leave the header + footer + decorations of the portlet OUTSIDE of the dynamically loadable content. It worked just fine but I had to abandon that approach so that I could use the same code both for statically- and dynamically-loaded content (e.g. when no AJAX support was available). So far so good.
Now to my problem: I use the following code for loading my dynamic content
The loading works fine, but after the dynamic content has been loaded I can not seem to get access to it using jQuery!
Short description: Line 3 clears the content (I know! There are better solutions!) Line 4 loads the content Line 6 dumps the data on the console; this is for debuging only, so that I can establish that the correct content is loaded
After the data is properly loaded I did expect to be able to find it by traversing the DOM tree in traditional jQuery fashion (like in Line 10). However, dumping the contents of the 'tag' shows it containing no content at all; it is empty even though the browser renders the expected new result. I thought: Well! The browser holds two copies of the DOM tree; one that is the original page and one that is the modified content used for rendering". Therefore I attempted to manipulate the loaded content within the function (Line 8). The content is visible there, that I have established in Line 6. But I do not know how to access it jQuery-style.
(Why am I trying to modify the loaded content? I want to inject a title row with various decorations and clickable content.)

Jun 24, 2010I'm using a function to load a page into a div. When I add the class of the element I want to show (.contentpaneopen) Chrome and Safari show no content. It works OK in IE and FF.When I ommit the class it works on all browsers.

Jun 8, 2011I created a bookmarklet script to help me audit extremely large style sheets.Basically while on a site that you would like to audit, you click the bookmarklet and the document's body contents gets remove and replaced with an iframe that points to the current sites home page. From here you can choose what style sheet (the script finds) to begin reporting over. The more pages you browse (through the iframe) the more accurate the report gets.My problem however, is if the person is on the site's home page when first running the script, the iframe never loads up. I think it has to do with the fact that you are on the home page, and then the iframe tries to point to the home page as well and fails for some reason.You can test it by bookmarking this bookmarklet and running it on any site's home page where style sheets can be found:

Jquery :: Image Slider - Load Content Asynchronously
Dec 21, 2011I have created a site that my friends and I are using and Im trying to implement a simple image slider.
I can do this without any issues in its simplest form. The issue though is that there are 10 people posting pictures and the site displays their last 6. What I want to do is create a button after each row that allows the user to scroll through that users pictures, but i dont want to preload all images first as this will make the page slow.

Create A Loading Image While Images Load?

It is the kind where you click on a thumbnail and a larger image shows up.What would I need to do to make it so it would show a loading image WHILE the picture is loading? (Especially for my over 60% of visitors who have dial up). Right now, if I click on an image, I have to wait a little while for it to load (I DO NOT WANT THE IMAGES TO PRELOAD)

Oct 21, 2009I have a site that is very jQuery and image heavy. The main sections of the site link to sections that are built with several Tabs, and as it loads, you briefly see all the content load and then it is hidden by the Tabs code.
The plan is to have a full window DIV that sits above all the content with a loading icon that plays until the entire page loads, and then it fades down.
After some hair pulling and research I have code in place that does exactly as I ask, however it does not seem to work in IE6+7. It works in all other browsers.

Aug 29, 2010I have a question about load(). I created a php script that simply returns <img src="something.jpg" class="myimage">
To test I created this code, the image loads fine and the mouseover works fine showing the alert dialog :
However, my trouble seems to be that if I bind mouseover to the class "myimage" nothing happens, like so :
Seems that the document would load the html first then the mouseover bound to the class (myimage) would fire off.

JQuery :: 32px Loading GIF Only While Image Is Loading?
Jul 27, 2009I have this loading.gif image that is 750px, when it should be 32px. The reason it's huge now is because my original solution was displaying two images: one 750px version of the loading.gif image and one 32px version (in the center of the 750px) of the same image. Now I'm at least down to one image, even if it's the wrong version.Click any of the thumbnail images here, and then again on the thumbnail at the top of that popup product gallery to see what I mean: need that huge loading.gif to be 32px like it should be, and then expand to 750px once the image is loaded. I've tried a bunch of solutions, but nothing has solved the problem.This is the code I have at the moment, although I'm working on the issue now so it may change.

Apr 11, 2010I have a page with links that use jQuery to load individual pages of content into a main content area. On one of these pages, I want to be able to link to a specific anchor. (ie, when you click the link named "exec" on the main page, it loads the "services" page and then scrolls to the "exec" div.

Everything works beautifully in FF and Opera but in IE, I get an error message saying "top is null or not an object". It's referencing the line where "target_offset.top" is called, but this is legitimate syntax, so I don't understand the problem.

Aug 14, 2010Fairly new to the Jquery game and I must say it rocks. I am trying to load new contents of one page into the div of a current page. My test URL can be foundWhen the first url (contact) is clicked the contents are loaded into the div, however if you click on the next link (about) it takes you straight to the about page as the contents are not loaded . Can anyone assist on how I can make this happen? I think it has something to do with the dom already being loaded.Here is my code

However what I would like to do is load the html into a variable and then append it to the <div>. Looking through the forums I see people have suggested using get instead of load. However when I use $.get there is nothing in the responseText or responseXML.
