AJAX :: Changing YAHOO Ads Every Request?

Oct 8, 2010

how the yahoo ad serving script can be used to serve up ads up using JavaScript that isn't inline? I've attempted several things but it just seems like its impossible to do. Essentially, I would like to swap out a new round of ads per AJAX request. Any ideas? I've created a more friendly user interface for a site I'm working on but the thing is that the ads need to change every request since page refreshes are being eliminated. Otherwise, only a single impression may be tracked even though someone has visited essentially 100 pages, which is no good for the ad business.

Also, has anyone had success finding a way to delay the yield manager until the page has fully loaded? Sometimes the yahoo yield manager can take 10+ seconds resulting in a poor user experience and slow load time. Any ideas for that? Essentially, it would be nice to fully load the page than request the ads without using obtrusive JavaScript which seems to be the only way yahoo knows to do things.

JQuery :: Data Is Null After AJAX Request?

Sep 30, 2010

I really don't understand why I am getting this error (parsererror TypeError: data is null [object XMLHttpRequest]) after making the following AJAX request:

var base_url = $('span#base_url').text();
var model_url = "index.php/status/get_xml/"
$.ajax({

So I am wondering why the .ajax function has an error, and yet the XML is being returned?

Double Ajax Calls, Using $F The Second Time Returns Null

Feb 11, 2006

I'm using the $F of the prototype library to send data through the Ajax
Request. I'm having problems using the $F to reference fields sent
back through an original Request. My first request sends a form back
to the user in the type such as <input text name=foo> and at the bottom
of the returned form I have a second ajax call to send the fresh data
to the another script. The problem is that the new data in the form
cannot be referenced from $F. My question is how can I pass the new
data in the javascript to another Ajax call either by $F or by other
means?

Simple XmlHttpObject - Alert Returns A Value Of Null

When using the code below the alert returns a value of null. In the past this has never happened, it has always returned the xml file I'm requesting. I have noticed a strange difference between browsers. This script is used to fill a form automatically. In its current state it works perfectly in opera, but does not work in firefox or IE (used to work in all the browsers). I'm by no means a javascript expert, am I missing something here?

Regular Expression Match Always Returns Null

Feb 12, 2010

I found this regular expression on the internet and it works fine when I test it in various validators on the web.

Code:

^(((0?[1-9]|1[012])/(0?[1-9]|1d|2[0-8])|(0?[13456789]|1[012])/(29|30)|(0?[13578]|1[02])/31)/(19|[2-9]d)d{2}|0?2/29/((19|[2-9]d)(0[48]|[2468][048]|[13579][26])|(([2468][048]|[3579][26])00)))$

It's purpose is to check for valid date and allows formats mm/dd/yyyy, m/dd/yyyy, mm/d/yyyy or m/d/yyyy.

When I try it with the code below it always returns null.

Code:

function isValidDate(/* String */ p1_date) {
var x = "^(((0?[1-9]|1[012])/(0?[1-9]|1d|2[0-8])|(0?[13456789]|1[012])/(29|30)|(0?[13578]|1[02])/31)/(19|[2-9]d)d{2}|0?2/29/((19|[2-9]d)(0[48]|[2468][048]|[13579][26])|(([2468][048]|[3579][26])00)))$";

XmlHTTP Request Returns 403 In FireFox When Post Used

Mar 30, 2007

Currently transitioning from a shared host to a dedicated server. The
same code that works on the old server is not working on the dedicated
server. It is a simple AJAX request like:

<code>
function createXMLHttpRequest() {
if (window.ActiveXObject) {
xmlHttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
}
else if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
xmlHttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
}
}

function doRequestUsingPOST() {
createXMLHttpRequest();
var queryString = "response.php?";
queryString = queryString + createQueryString() ;
xmlHttp.onreadystatechange = handleStateChange;
xmlHttp.open("POST", queryString, true);
xmlHttp.send(null);
}
</code>

With the code as is above, the requests works fine in IE. With Firefox
it throws a 403 on the page. A call to the response.php page with
parameters runs correctly outside of AJAX. Changing all POST requests
to GET resolves the issue, but I would prefer not to have to change
ALL POST requests to GET requests.

Does anyone know of a setting on the new server that can cause FireFox
(1.5.x and 2.0.x) to return a 403 with an AJAX post call?

AJAX :: Request Readystate Stuck At 1 Only For Specific Request?

Oct 16, 2010

I have a php page which returns a table representing a query sent to a MySQL database. So far it has worked in every case except now that I'm trying to use it to call a stored procedure, in which case the readystate is staying at 1 and never completing.

I have logged the results of the php file both in an error log and looked at the response from the request using firebug, both of which show a correct result.

Why isn't this returning properly?

Here are the relevant javascript functions:

Code:
function customizeType()
{
$("custom-header").innerHTML = "";
$("custom-top").innerHTML = "";

[Code]....

After the page loads, the error log shows correct results for all queries.

AJAX :: XMLHttpRequest - FF Vs IE - Gets A Stock Quote From Yahoo And Displays It

Mar 7, 2011

I've put together a function for screen scraping, just to see if I could do it. Basically, this gets a stock quote from Yahoo! and displays it. It works with no issues in IE7. FF and Chrome, however, it does not work. It will not display anything. Error Console is not returning any errors, and I'm a total novice when it comes to troubleshooting with FireBug.

[Code]....

I'm sure it's something simple, something I've overlooked. I'm beginning to think it might be with the trenary conditional setting the method.

AJAX :: Windows XP - Yahoo Hosting - Site Worked Fine In IE But Not In Firefox

Apr 8, 2010

I ran in to a strange problem with a client who uses Yahoo hosting. The web site uses AJAX (jquery, php, javascript). There is no problem viewing the site using IE8, Firefox on a Windows 7 computer. On an XP computer the site worked fine in IE, but not in Firefox. The site never worked properly using Chrome or Safari.

I tried jquery 1.3.2 and 1.4.2 but got the same results.

I use this same combination (jquery, php, javascript) on other web hosts and don't have these problems.

I know that Yahoo hosting injects tracking code in the web pages it serves for the sites it hosts (at least for my client). I think this could be the source of the problem.

When I removed jquery (I was only using the load function anyway) and used my own code- the problem disappeared. The site now works in all browsers.

The goal is to change the source on the fly (as with a firefox extension webdev or another or even Greasemonkey) to add a link. Until then, easy does it work well. This link launches an application ajax jquery like:
$.get(...) or even $.ajax(...)

If I'm on [URL], added my link, I click and it works, I see the ajax request and pass my "alert ()" gives me the return of application. Great! But if I'm on a site other than mine (the url of the ajax request is [URL] while I'm at [URL] for example), the return of the ajax request is empty.
