Internet Explore Update Issue With Flash Files
Apr 28, 2006
Hey I have a question about working around the new IE (internet explorer) issue. They released an update that causes my flash objects to not be in focus (IE 6.02 Windows XP). So when the user rolls over a flash animation it makes a border around it and nothing works in the flash file until they click on it.
I guess they had some legal issues or something.
If you don't know what I am talking about you can download the latest IE updates and use the code below and you will see what I mean.
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="719" height="286">
<param name="movie" value="test.swf" border="0">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<embed src="test.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="719" height="286"></embed>
</object>
It says "click to activate and use this control" when you roll over the flash object I figure that javascript can work around this, but I can't figure it out. I see yahoo's flash animations don't cause the issue so there must be a way around it.

I have two .js files that are used on several of my pages. I made some
changes in one of the files. When I call the pages, the old functions
are called because of the browser's cache. What is the best way to
update the browser's cache with the newer version of my .js file?

I'm trying to clear the TIF on Windows XP programmatically with the below code.
This code works fine on any folder but the TIF. For some reason the atEnd() statements always defaults to true and no files are deleted in the folder.
The peculiarity of this issue is that the files/subfolders cannot be seen through the windows explorer either. I can only access/delete them through a command shell. Code:

So this works just fine in FF. In IE7 I am getting this error. I can see my content load in the background, when I hit ok it takes me to a page cannot be displayed page. If I comment out:
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/moodalbox.js"></script>
It doesnt present that error, but that is obviously not an option. Here is my code:

I have the following JavaScript (see below). The script requests an XML file from the server and displays it on the page.The script works fine when the requested XML file is stored on the same server as the script.The problem is when I try requesting an XML file from an external server such as the National Weather Service. I get an error. If I take the XML file from the National Weather Service and save it to my server it works. Why can't I use my script to request XML files stored on external servers?

I work for a company called Best of the Best (www.botb.com). We use Flash countdown clocks to mark the end of our competitions. The issue we now have is that our clients are using mobile platforms more and more and as bloody Apple wont support flash (not fully anyway) we need the option to detect whether our users have flash and if not then replace the current <OBJECT>Blah Blah Parameters etc</OBJECT> with <DIVCLASS="NON_FLASH_CONTAINER">All other bits in middle</DIV>Is this at all possible?

I have created a transparent flash video (virtual spokesperson) for my website. For demoing purposes, I would like to have this appear on any desired website.
This is what I am trying to produce - here a virtual spokesperson appears on the [url]website: [url]
Have a look at other sites which enable one to type in a URL and their demo virtual spokesperson appears on the given site: [url] [url]
I believe they do this within an iframe to display the underlying website.
