I want to know the index of the option that a user clicks on in a
multiple-select object (regardless of whether he selected or deselected
it). This seems fairly simple but I can't seem to figure out how to do
it. Does anybody know how to do this?
I'm assuming it's possible to change the selected option of SELECT box with JavaScript based on the value and not index, but my searches have turned up nothing that seem to address this. It may be my searching terms, but if someone knows how to do this, could you post some code samples?
I'm creating a paypal webpage and am having some issues with input values updating based on which item the user has selected. The boxes I need to update are the amount, item number and item name. I have the following code but it only updates the first form. If I make a change to the second set of options it updates the first form instead of the second.
function details(val) { var info = val.split("|");
I have a drop down with approx. 200 <option> elements, each option element has a value such as value="1", value="23", etc. Given a list of values, such as 5, 34, 43, 68, 123, how can pass those values to a function and then insert selected for each corresponding element?
The function "addPhrase" is where i know i'm having the difficulty - so for now I've forced it to show one value only:
'// The form name is AMANDA
function addPhrase() { document.AMANDA.js_strMemberMail.value = document.AMANDA.js_strPreDefCatList.value + ", " ;}
What I think I want is to be able to build up a string of values and write them out to the textarea (hence the ", "). With the option that more can be added, without deleting what's currently there.
I'm using a bit of Javascript to display content based on the dropdown selection:http://jsfiddle.net/mcgarriers/wjLXk/However, I would like it when the user selects "show two" that it shows the 2 div elements rather than specifically div2.And for "show three" it would show all 3 divs.
I'm using the following code to remove an option from a select control based on a selection in a different select control and the option text in the select option that is being removed. The code works as I want it to, but I would prefer to use the option value for identifying the option to remove instead of using the option text. I've tried several different ways to do this, but can not find the proper syntax.
I'm trying to find the currently clicked index of .accordion_trigger from within another element.
When inside the .accordion_trigger click event I can simply do the below to get the current clicked index:
Code: $('.accordion_trigger').click(function(){ var index = $('.accordion_trigger').index(this); } return false; });
Obviously this doesn't work when called from within another element. I understand that 'this' is part of the problem but can't seem to find a way to form the code in such a way for it to produce a valid result. Thus far I only get -1 or 0.
When .accordion_trigger is clicked it has an "$(this).toggleClass('active').next().slideDown();" applied so in theory I shold be able to search for which of the .accordion_trigger's are "active".
I've also tried doing this via the below method but to no avail:
Code: var current = $('.accordion_trigger'); current.each(function() { if ($(this).hasClass('active')) {
I am currently looking to create a JavaScript menu for a website I am working on. It currently expands and collapses on click. The code in question is pasted below:-
menu_status = new Array(); function showHide(theid){ if (document.getElementById) { var switch_id = document.getElementById(theid);
[Code]....
As you can see, it basically shows and hides the menu (when clicked). I want it to open the menu when clicked and close when another menu is opened. I have looked and have not been able to find a solution into it. Ideally I donot want it to be a long piece of code as I do have a working menu but with many more lines of JavaScript than the one I have posted.
This is my first post to this forum. When a button in parent window is clicked multiple times, more than one popup window is opened. This problem is occurring in linux firefox and mozilla browsers. In windows the code is working fine. Is there any option in window.open() method to open a popup window once. s there any known issue regarding this case?. Need a workaround to fix this issue.

So I made a small Paper-Rock-Scissors game but I need to keep track how many times say "rock" has been clicked, what function should I use for that?
(For example, if the user has clicked rock 4 times, the computer will automatically assume that the user will continue with rock and says paper so it'll win the game.)
I'm having a little bit of a problem with setting the background color through an onClick event on an option tag. When I click one of the options, nothing changes, although I set the body.style.backgroundColor to register to a different color when the option tag is clicked.
I'm using Prototype and scriptaculous either, but here it is:
I have two select areas and scripts to transfer items between the two. Everything works great in FF, but in IE when an option gets removed it removes the entire select area. Has anyone ever seen something like this before?
According to [URL] intended way for jQuery to change dynamically the selected option of a dropdown select control isassigningthe desired text instead of the value. I found this way veryinconvenient (data structures usually deal with value codes, not value descriptions) and it seems to work only sometimes.
Trying different options I came out with this approach that seems to do the job so far:
function setSelect(pID,pSelectedValue) { $('#'+pID + ' option:selected').removeAttr('selected');
I want to use the same Photoslider II code but for three different slideshows on same index page. The problem is one works fine but when I add another one on same page everything gets screwed up. The code is below but how can I make adjustments so each one works independently? Code:
I have a form that uses jeditable to edit-in-place several fields and select boxes. Everything is working great. Now I need to a way to add a new option to the select list. What I would like is the user select "Add New..." from the select list that would pop-up a dialog window where several fields are filled in. When the form is saved the select field is updated with the new ID and description. I use Facebox for pop-up windows to display notes when the user clicks on a topic. I know Facebox can be used to display a form. It would be ideal to use this ability when creating a new option for the select box.
I have been using dynamic divs with changing z-index's to show content on my screen. Everything was working fine until I tried to hide a form underneath a picture using z-index. The hiding of the form worked well until I included a "select" option. This would always stay on top, even though the division it was included in had gone to z-index:-1. The picture is at z-index:0. Any ideas on why this happens?
Is "visibility:hidden|visible" cross browser? The select option does go invisisble along with the rest of the div when I use this method.
If I select "Other", a text box pops up and I can type in something and hit Add Item and it will add it to the drop down box, but the selection will stay at "Other". How do I make it select the item I just added?
How to get the index number of getElementsByTagName("input") array on clicked field? i.e. when i clicked a field name "f03" of first record, i want to print(alert msg) the index value as 0, for second record 1 respectively.for that i want to write javascript for onclick event.
