Image Fading, Random Start?

May 22, 2010

I'm using this tutorial to create a simple list of images that fade between each other.I can get it working fine following the instructions.However, i wonder if any genius's on here can tweak it so when the page loads it randomly picked image from the group and then carries on with its fades?Basically the image will be on a home page so each time you visit i want it to be a random image from the group and then fade through the rest..

Dec 22, 2010

I have found this nice background rotator:

Code:
<style>
body
{
/*Remove below line to make bgimage NOT fixed*/
background-color:black;
background-attachment:fixed;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
[Code]...

when i run it, i have to wait the 9000 timer to c the first image, and i need the page to start with an image and then start the rotation, i have assigned background-image by css, and tried also to use document.body.background, but when i do this the rotator doesnt work.

JQuery :: Make Cycle Start On A Random Slide But Still Run In Sequence

Aug 4, 2010

I've used Jquery Cycle to build thefollowingpage: [URL] As you can see the slides runnicelyin sequence with a clickable navigation. I would like to be able to run this slide show from a random starting slide on each page load, but for the slide show to remain in sequence and not load random slides thereafter. I'm sure this is doable - but the only random syntax I've found for this plugiin loads just random slides, out of the running order, which makes the navigation run randomly. I just want the starting slide to be random.

JQuery :: Best Practice For Fading-in An Image ?

Apr 14, 2010

I have a photo blog [url] and want to create an effect that fades-in the displayed picture when the page is loaded.

An important requirement for me would be that the page also has to work without Javascript.

Currently I am using the following small plugin:

It is called directly beneath the <img> element:

This way it works fine with the current versions of Firefox and IE. I did not test other browsers or versions yet. I tried to call it in $(document).ready but then IE might display the picture shortly before it is hidden and faded-in.

Since I am not 100% happy with having the code in the middle of the HTML and with depending on the timing of execution to avoid flickering I wanted to ask for other solution or best practices to achieve what I would like to do.

One solution that came to my mind is to do create the image in JScript and only fade it in after it is loaded. To work without Javascript I could still put the <img> element where it was but within a <noscript> element. But not sure how well the <noscript> is supported by older or exotic browsers.

Image Slideshow With Fading Images

Jan 21, 2010

Alrighty so here's what I have. Live example: [URL] It's a image slideshow that dynamically gets all the images (via php) in the current directory and puts them into the slideshow array. The array then randomly displays the images in the slideshow (via javascript). There are 5 images in the folder rotateimage which also has the php script getimages.php in it. Currently only the first image fades in however I want all the images to fade in as the first one does.

Jquery :: Fading Text And Image In Slideshow At The Same Time

Working JS Fading Image Banner / How To Make Images Linked

May 18, 2010

I am very new to javascript and have only just started looking into it after working quite a bit in html, css and php.I have a working image banner on my webpage that switches between 1 of 2 images every 7 seconds. This all works fine but i now need to make the second image 'pcm2.jpg' a clickable link where as the first image 'pcm.jpg' which starts off the image rotation in the html page has no link. I have tried using 'document. rollbanner.href =' inside the function but that hasn't helped. Is that because the first image in the html page has no href value to begin with? If so how do i get around this as i dont want the first image to have a link, only the second one.

Keep Last Image Viewed And Start With Next Image

Dec 10, 2010

I'm new to javascript. I'm trying to make a script to load one of a series of images, as hyperlinks, in order, not randomly, on each page load of my site homepage. In addition, I need the script to do the following: if the user first visits today he gets the first image and if he returns to the homepage later today or any other time in the future, the series of images loaded begins with the next image in the series. In other words if there are a series of 4 images, he sees one image each visit to the homepage, in order, and the sequence begins over again once he has viewed all 4 images, regardless of when that is.

I found some code on the 'net that loads images in sequence on each page load, but it only works with the current viewing session, and once the viewer leaves the site the last image they viewed is not kept and the sequence starts from the beginning instead of where they left off.

The code is below, but I can't figure out how to modify it to do what I want.

Html5 Image Fading - Using The Browsers Own Fade Rendering Will Lighten That Load?

Here is a link of what I currently have for an image-fade slideshow so far. However if I can I'd like html5+css3 to handle the fade effects instead of depending as heavily on jquery and js. Using the browsers own fade rendering will lighten that load.Link to what I have currently:

Stacking Order - One Is A Fading Slide-show Acting As A Header And Other Is A Light-box Like Image Gallery

Oct 26, 2011

I have to JS scripts running on a page, one is a fading slide-show acting as a header and the other is a light-box like image gallery. When I view a picture in the "light-box" mode it sits underneath the fading slide-show and I want it to be on top of everything - much like setting the z-index in css. Although I don't think this is the way to solve this.

Anyway, you can check what I'm talking about here: [url]

JQuery :: Image Slider - How To Start With First Element

Feb 2, 2011

I created that function for an image slider:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#gallery").click(function(){
$(this).find("li.third").fadeOut(800).removeClass("third").next().addClass("third").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.second").fadeOut(800).removeClass("second").next().addClass("second").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.first").next().addClass("first").fadeIn(800); $($(this).find("li.first")[0]).removeAttr("class").hide().appendTo($(this)).fadeIn(800);
});
});

Actually I want to fade in the first picture first. Than the second and at the end the third. To achieve that I changed the order of these following three lines:
$(this).find("li.first").next().addClass("first").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.second").fadeOut(800).removeClass("second").next().addClass("second").fadeIn(800);
$(this).find("li.third").fadeOut(800).removeClass("third").next().addClass("third").fadeIn(800);Unfortunately it doesn't work.

JQuery :: Random BG Image Combined With Auto-scaled Bg Image Plugins

Nov 18, 2011

I've been searching for a resolution to this issue for hours trying to customize my page located at [url]

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out why this line of code is not making my images display in the background:

Original plugin script provided here: [url]

<script>

I made adjustments with my image references that are all located in this directory: [url]

Problem: No images load, and I believe I don't fully understand the .appendTo tage.. I don't know if #body is correct. The author of the plugin assumed I understood the relation. Also #homePage may be incorrect as well.

Additionally, I found another plugin that worked for placing an image in the background (not random), and the background image would scale to size, according the users window. I loved that and it worked, just wanted to add random images to the same script.... first things first... I can't even get an image to display at all with the above code.

In case you wanted to know the script I was using to scale the background image, here it is below (although, as you will see in the code for my site - this image feature is disabled as I am trying to make adjustments).

code for image solutions used:

HTML

CSS

If I can get this second code to work with the random image plugin.

Random Image Script With Default Image Shown First?

Feb 16, 2011

Here's what I usually use and have been using for years and it works great, just not for this particular purpose. I don't have a clue when it comes to javascript.

<noscript><img src="no_script_quote.gif" width="406" height="94"/></noscript><script language="javascript">
var delay=6000
var curindex=0

[code]....

But, now I want to be able to set a default picture to be shown first and have the random pics appear next. I also don't want the default pic to show up again in the random array. So basically, every time the page was first visited, or refreshed it would show the default picture then move into the random pics.
