1)- calculate the visitor screen resolution.
2)- based on that resolution i want to resize my background image.
I am looking at an easier way to have the background-image for a site be resized so that it looks the same across all screen resolutions (or at least close enough). The way I am doing it now is by using Javascript to get the width of the screen and then loading an appropriate sized image. Looks like this:

An example of the resizing of an image can be seen here as well as at most photography galleries that are full-screen. You can see the size of the image change by shrinking your browser window. I want to make that gallery using javascript. I already have the ability to make a horizontal slider with left/right navigation - that part is easy. I just have never done anything with dynamic image sizes.One thing that was brought up to me already was the ability to shrink the browser window to fit.

I need the id of the li to be "sm" or "smp" depending on the width of the image inside of it (landscape or portrait)

So my task was to build basically photo-based department org-charts for a SharePoint 2007 environment. Not sure why I was asked to do this as the last time I web designed was when Netscape 4.0 and IE4 were still duking it out, but whatever.I inserted my images (125x125) into tables and everything looks great. on my screen.Boss's screen, a slightly smaller monitor with a lower resolution, not so much.I'd like to be able to dynamically resize the image display sizes based on detected screen resolutions, or failing that, have at least 2 image libraries using 75x75 and 125x125 and then load one image size or the other based again on detected screen resolutions.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have made a script that can resize a image to the "Max Width" on load. And then when you click the image you can switch between the orginal size and scaled size.
But ther are a problem with it sometime makes the image 10 px x 10 px. when the image is 800x600 and the max width is 700. I think this have something to do with it getting the org image size before the image has loadet complety. But i have tryed all day and just can't get it to work.

I am trying to setup a javascript function that sets a div's width based on the combined width of the li's with the name "navItem". The problems I have been running into when trying to define the width of the li's is that they do not have a width defined in css. Can anyone help me out with this? The javascript function setWindow is suppose to show the div loginWindow and set the width of it.

Also if I manually resize the dialog when it appear after close and reopen it use the new size (resized manually) not the one I specified in the code.is it possible to resize the dialog before it show up?

I had problems with getting the gradient to stretch all the way to the side in IE7 with plain CSS so I had to start looking for more watertight solutions.

I want to acheive the following functionality using JAVASCRIPT -:
To be able to specify alternate URL incase the original image is not found on the server.
In HTML there is functionality for displaying alternate text.
But I want some functionality for alternate image.
I saw a solution wherein I could iterate over all the images in the html page and then verify whether img.completed==null. But surprisingly eventhough the image is not found , the value of completed is not null. So I felt that using the completed atrribute was not the right way.
I either need to verify whether the image exists on the server using JAVASCRIPT or do some other thing with some other attribute which might not have come to my attention till now.
I have a site that I'm building at [URL] which use the jquery cycle plugin for a slideshow. I won't post the code here because it's all there with view source at the above address. It's a work in progress. The slideshow is full width (the images in it are actually 2000px wide but looks full width), and works fine apart from when the browser window is resized. This is most noticable when you start with a smaller browser window and then resize it to be bigger.
The slides stay the same width as when the page loaded - I need them to adapt to the new width. I need the slideshow to be centered at all widths, so I've put the images in as backgrounds to divs with center positioning on them. I've tried getting the window width on resize and then applying it to the slides using jQuery, but the original calculated size overrides it when the slide changes.
I've been using dreamwevaer to automatically do rollovers for me, and i dont really understand them that much, but i need to create a rollover image which when hovered another image would appear to the right of it. Would anyone know how this is done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having an issue with this script to resize my iframe(ifr) based on the content loaded in it.I am half bald from this issue. Works perfect in IE7 & 8 but not in FF or Chrome.FF works "almost" - It resizes on first page loaded but doesn't resize if the iframe content is changed until refreshed. (example: If I load search results which shows 10 results and then click one and it loads the page which isn't as high as the search results page was then it just stays at the larger height until I refresh and then resizes correctly.)

I want to set the width of a div to be the same width of the image inside the div.The following code works great. But...The images are different widths, so both wrappers are set to the width of the first image. Without having to add an ID to each wrapper or image, can the wrapper width be set to the image width using the name of the image as the unique identifier?

I am using Ben Alman's JQuery resize plugin in order to obtain the varying computed width of an element when the window is resized (the element in question is a page wrapper that exhibits the expand-to-fit behavior of a block box, and it's computed width is obviously influenced by the resizing of the window. Essentially, what I need to be able to do, is to reference a variable that is defined in a .resize() function ('width_page') in a seperate .each() function.

I now understand that variables can't cross boundaries like in the example above, which leaves me a little stuck. I also understand that this is specific to the context of the .resize() function, and that it can't be taken out of it without using an element selector. Is there some way I can call the .resize() function in my .each() function?
I would like to have the width of a div change automatically based on a number entered into a corresponding input box.

Currently they are all just set at 50% width, I'd like the width to automatically adjust the width based on the input box value, without the user having to submit anything! If anything in jQuery exists like this to, to get a nice smooth scrolling that'd be lovely but not essential.
i have one issue on Font resizing - To set proportional fonts(i.e Arial or verdana) to match window size. That is, if this setting is in effect, and the window is enlarged, then the font size should correspondingly increase.if you get the browser's width and height details on window resize,is it possible through javascript?

I've got a container that will also have a bunch of images... some of them will have captions and will be wrapped in a class "caption"... some will not be wrapped in the "caption" class. I'm trying to loop through the container... find all the "caption" classes... and then set the width of the caption class based on the width of the image inside of it. Here's what a basic image with a caption will look like:

I'm able to look through the containing div and locate all the images and then get their width using the following:

I have a number of SELECT drop downs, each in their own DIV. Each of these DIVs is in the same location but only one is visible at a time. I have two buttons on another DIV (previous and next) and want to position the buttons to the right of the SELECT group (based on the position and width of the longest SELECT). I'm debugging using firebug in firefox and everything works with getting the values I need - it just won't set the left attribute in the DIV.
The script below magnifies a small portion of a larger image in a separate box. Is there any way I can add to the code to alter the area and level of magnification shown from the original image onto the new box?

I'm currently working on an IE7 CSS fix for a rather large form. Long story short, I have each input wrapped in a div, all in the same class. What I need, is to have each div define a padding-right value that is equal to the width of that div. I'm fairly new to jQuery, so I'm in need of some help with the syntax.
