IE6 Requests CSS Background Image Every Time!
May 7, 2007
I found a bug in IE6, though it is known already. If I have a CSS
background property set to some image, such as
background:url(myimg.gif);, and I apply this property to some html
element, say DIV, and refresh DIV every 10 seconds, background image
is reguested every 10 seconds for IE6, too.
The fix which I found did not fix the problem:
try {
document.execCommand("BackgroundImageCache", false, true);
} catch(err) {}

I'm trying to launch two ajax requests at same time. I'm expecting result from the first later than the second. The problem is, it won't return me any result from the second request untill first one is returned.
Check it out :
$.post("sendMail.php");
getSendInfo();
setTimeout(getSendInfo,5000);
[code]....
I'm getting response from the $.getJSON function only when the $.post is over. Is this a bug or a mistake from me ? My aim is to launch a long request and fire multiple other requests to check how is doing the first one.

I'm encountering an AJAX problem when I try to execute multiple AJAX requests at the same time. What I want to do is delete a message and display the status (succes or failure) of that in div1, and refresh the messages on the page in div2. This needs (for as far as my knowledge reaches) two AJAX actions from which I both need the responseText.
The problem:
What happens when I execute my script is that the second action (refresh a part of the page) happens before the deletion is executed. The result of this is that when the deletion has been executed, the page is already updated, and the deleted message is still there.
The script
What I now have is:
function doAjax(url, element_id, img_url){
var ajaxObject = createAjaxObject();
ajaxObject.open('GET', url, true);
ajaxObject.onreadystatechange = function(){
if(ajaxObject.readyState==4 && ajaxObject.status==200){
document.getElementById(element_id).innerHTML = ajaxObject.responseText;
delete ajaxObject; .....

Im trying to make a personal home page that both shows the time and a random background each refresh using javascript. so far i have managed to get either one or the other to work but not both.i want to know if anyone could try and tell me what is wrong.the files can be found at: http://ihf.lp.pl/narik/index.htmlas you will see if you visit that the random image script works.(if u have slow net, you'll have to be patient the bg image is large)however if u visitat by the name, the index file has the clock working but not the random background. They are both present in the html, but for some reason are not working together.the relevant javascript files within that folder are: randomimage.js & clock.jsthe background images can be found at http://ihf.lp.pl/narik/images/wallpapers/1.jpg (the image names go from 1.jpg through to 17.jpg)

I have a container <div> with a link inside of it. What I need to do is change the background of the <div> and the color of the link text at the same time.I can change the color of the link when I hover over it, but not when I hover over the <div>I have columns of links and each column is the width of the longest link so there are some links with "space" to the right of the link. When that "space" is hovered over the background of the div changes but not the color of the link text.The menulinkbox is the container and there are, for example, 4 columns with 4 rows in each column. When I hover over a column + row I want the menulinkbox's background to change *and* the color of the <a> text to change.

I have a client that wants a new background image every time page is reloaded. I thought I have to script and thought I had it working but when I applied it to all my pages from a template I made in dreamweaver it doesn't work. It only works on the template.
See code below.
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function MM_goToURL() { //v3.0
var i, args=MM_goToURL.arguments; document.MM_returnValue = false;
for (i=0; i<(args.length-1); i+=2) eval(args[i]+".location='"+args[i+1]+"'");
}
function MM_displayStatusMsg(msgStr) { //v1.0
status=msgStr;
document.MM_returnValue = true;
}
//-->
</script>
</head>
<body>
<script>
var randombgs=["../images/main_background.png", "../images/main_background2.png", "../images/main_background3.png", "../images/main_background4.png", "../images/main_background.png", "../images/main_background2.png", "../images/main_background3.png", "../images/main_background4.png"]
document.write('<body background="'+randombgs[Math.floor(Math.random()*randombgs.length)]+'" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">')
</script>
</body

I am building a simple t-shirt creator app for my shop and I am using the interface.js library: [URL].. docs/drag to drag/drop and re-size the graphic on the shirt background image.
Once the user has chosen a spot to put the graphic, how do I save the background image of the t-shirt with the image they dropped in the correct spot? Like, to merge the two graphics in place?

I have a div set up like this
<div id='y' style='background-image: url(./randomcolor.php?ibase=
<?
php echo $entity
->
[code]....
I am having an issue with setting the background-image of a another div #x to the background image of #y.Correct me if I am wrong but I think you would do this in a simple case by saying
$
(
'#x'
).
[code]....
So when it does it, it is getting the URL of the generator (I logged it. what is actually being passed is [URL] This would require a server call to generate a new image, In this particular application, even if it wasn't exactly the image y had it would be acceptable. But it's not doing it. It is not getting any image at all. Am I doing something wrong, i.e. is it supposed to just work? I would think not, since the page has already been rendered. This is almost an ajax situation but I don't know how to do it for an image. I don't really want to generate a new image anyway, I'd be very happy to get the one that's already there. How would I access the actual image already attached to y and not do another server call?

I have this working fine, and I can append the preloaded image to a hidden div then fade the div in for a smooth effect.
Problem is I want to set this preloaded image as a css background image, not as a <img /> in a container. But if when the image is loaded, instead of .prepend() I do .css() and set the css property of a background-image to be the preloaded images URL, then when it carries on with displaying it the browser loads the image again. Rather than using the preloaded one.
I want the image to be a background image as I want it centered in the page background, even if it is too large for the viewport.

I have a LARGE, hi-resolution image that I am trying to use as the background for a page. Because it is so large, it takes a while to download. Because of this, I wanted to load the image behind-the-scenes and show it once it is downloaded.
To accomplish this, I'm using the following JQuery code:
This code clearly downloads an image and appends it to my DIV element. However, I really want to set this downloaded image to the background-image CSS property of my DIV. The reason why is because I have content inside the DIV that should serve as the foreground.
How do I dynamically download an image, fade it in, and use it as a background?

the problem i am having is that i am using 1024 x 768 screen resolution. and the background images fit perfectly in the pages for me but when someone with a lower or higher resolution views the page, the background image either gets cutoff or starts repeating.
is there any code that will fix my problem??
i have found some code (see below) that resizes the image according to the window size but it is for an image on the page and not the background image. Code:

With image elements I can do <IMG src="..." onLoad="..."> where
the onLoad is supposed to fire upon the image loading. Is there an
event that I can trap for once the background image in
<BODY background="...url..."> is loaded?
I plan to render a series of maps which sometimes take a while to
compute (on the server) so I'd like to know when subsequent ones
come in.
Failing that, can I assign an already loaded image to the background?

How am I able to have a gallery of images fading in and out as the background of a DIV? It's currently just a static background using CSS.You can view the HTML page in question here: http://aksdesigns.co.uk/temp/template.html
The DIV container is the one with the ID of #MainContent
#MainContent {
width: 980px;
height: 550px;[code].....
It probably couldn't be done using CSS be how could I achieve this with Javascript?
