JQuery :: Hide Until Background Image Loaded?

May 17, 2010

I have a set of divs on my portfolio page that all share the common class 'module', with an additional class that determines the background image.I currently have this function that I thought would keep each instance of .module hidden until it had loaded:

$('.module').ready(function(){
$('.module').fadeIn('9000');
});

I'm not certain but I think the 'ready' only refers to the HTML content and ignores the fact that the background image (defined in css) isn't ready.Is there any simple way I can make each div stay hidden until the background is loaded, then perform show() or fadeIn()???
The page in question can be found at http:[url]....

Loading Divs Dynamically -- How To Detect Which One Loaded Currently..

I'm using a function like this to load divs dynamically (and hide

function get_img(curr_img,curr_nav,new_img,new_nav2) {

Test To See If A DIV Background Is Loaded?

Jun 24, 2011

I am doing an image/data rotating script. I get the data from a XML. I parse that data and build the divs and such.Data Set 1 --- background image in a div, with a button and some text overlayed on the div.
...
...
Data Set 4 -- etc..The thing is, I load the script and the div appears, BUT the text overlay appears first THEN the image pops up for the first Data Set. I can't have that. I need them both to appear at once.Is there a way to determine that a div background image is loaded?-- I have access to the prototype js library.

Hide CSS Background Images Until Fully Loaded?

Dec 2, 2009

I'm using a double background image for a site - basically two containers around everything, one with a gif with patches of different colour, and above it a semi-opaque png with a very faint texture. I'm doing it this way as it makes for much faster loading than one jpg with the image and texture combined.

The only problem is that you see the gif load first, then the texture goes over it. Is there any way, perhaps with JS, to hide these background images until they're both fully loaded, then display them together?

}

function MM_displayStatusMsg(msgStr) { //v1.0
status=msgStr;
document.MM_returnValue = true;
}

</script>
</head>
<body>
<script>

var randombgs=["../images/main_background.png", "../images/main_background2.png", "../images/main_background3.png", "../images/main_background4.png", "../images/main_background.png", "../images/main_background2.png", "../images/main_background3.png", "../images/main_background4.png"]
document.write('<body background="'+randombgs[Math.floor(Math.random()*randombgs.length)]+'" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">')

Access Different Image Maps Per Image Loaded?

Mar 9, 2011

Hey guys, I am building a page where I will have five links and each one will open a different image inside a div, but i need this image to be an image map, I created the image maps and the links, but I am having great difficulty in getting the images to load their own map. I have tried a combination of javascript and moving the code around the html but i am completely stuck.Here is the html code I have:

<div id="mainleft">
<ul>
<li><a href="Images/pantera.jpg" title="Pantera" width ="640" height ="427" alt="Pantera" usemap="#panteramap1" onclick="showPic(this); return false">Pantera</a></li>

[code]....

So basically all I want is a way to change the map that is being used in the placeholder.

JQuery :: Setting Background Image To Another Div's Dynamically Generated Image?

May 12, 2010

I have a div set up like this

<div id='y' style='background-image: url(./randomcolor.php?ibase=
<?
php echo $entity

[code]....

I am having an issue with setting the background-image of a another div #x to the background image of #y.Correct me if I am wrong but I think you would do this in a simple case by saying

$
(
'#x'
).

[code]....

So when it does it, it is getting the URL of the generator (I logged it. what is actually being passed is [URL] This would require a server call to generate a new image, In this particular application, even if it wasn't exactly the image y had it would be acceptable. But it's not doing it. It is not getting any image at all. Am I doing something wrong, i.e. is it supposed to just work? I would think not, since the page has already been rendered. This is almost an ajax situation but I don't know how to do it for an image. I don't really want to generate a new image anyway, I'd be very happy to get the one that's already there. How would I access the actual image already attached to y and not do another server call?

JQuery :: Image Preload To Use As Background-image?

Aug 28, 2009

I have this working fine, and I can append the preloaded image to a hidden div then fade the div in for a smooth effect.

Problem is I want to set this preloaded image as a css background image, not as a <img /> in a container. But if when the image is loaded, instead of .prepend() I do .css() and set the css property of a background-image to be the preloaded images URL, then when it carries on with displaying it the browser loads the image again. Rather than using the preloaded one.

I want the image to be a background image as I want it centered in the page background, even if it is too large for the viewport.

JQuery :: Set Background-Image To Image Object

Jun 10, 2009

I have a LARGE, hi-resolution image that I am trying to use as the background for a page. Because it is so large, it takes a while to download. Because of this, I wanted to load the image behind-the-scenes and show it once it is downloaded.

To accomplish this, I'm using the following JQuery code:

This code clearly downloads an image and appends it to my DIV element. However, I really want to set this downloaded image to the background-image CSS property of my DIV. The reason why is because I have content inside the DIV that should serve as the foreground.

How do I dynamically download an image, fade it in, and use it as a background?

JQuery :: Detect Size Of An Image?

Apr 9, 2010

This is an update to a previous question which didn't get any replies. Having tried some things it boils down to a question of whether jQuery can detect the width of an image on the page when that width hasn't been defined in the image tag or css.

I'm designing templates for other authors to use. If they put an image of over a certain width in a div it'll break the layout. I've tried to write a function that gets (1) the name of the div and (2) the maximum width allowable. It should then check the images in that div and if they're over the maximum width, resize them to the maximum width. If they're under it should leave them alone. If a width is defined in the the width attribute it should leave it alone.

I know that is what 'max-width' is for, but the browser in our organization is IE6 and that's not going to change anytime soon. It ignores 'max-width'.

[Code]..

The result each time I tinker with it is that either it does nothing or it sets the widths of all images to maxwide, even the small ones. I'm doing wrong? The only clue I have is that if I alert the width of images going through the function, those without a defined width come up as 'auto', which it seems to think is greater than maxwide.

Javascript Image Objects Not Loaded

Sep 2, 2006

I have this...

<div id="mainframe">
<img src="image.jpg" id="image">
</div>

Then when I try to in a function say...

function checkImage()
{
var image = document.getElementById("image");
var height = image.height;
}

Many times the image height will not be defined.

I recently changed the past so it uses AJAX to change the <img src...
stuff to return new data for that inner HTML block..

Still the image will not have properties.
Now, this is a problem in IE/FF, but not in opera.

Any ideas on how to make sure the image is loaded so its height/width
properties are available... either by swapping the image.src or by
using ajax to swap out the div innerHTML??

JQuery :: Checking If Image Has Loaded ?

Dec 13, 2011

I'm creating a script to get the next photo without reloading a webpage. To make it more smoothly, I fadeOut() the old image, and fadeIn() the new image.

However, when the new image is not yet fully loaded, the fadeIn() method doesn't really make sence. So I wonder if there is a way to first show an ajax loader, and after the new image is fully loaded, fadeIn the new image.

This is how far I got so far :-)

I first have to remove the first img tag, and inject a new one in the DOM, otherwise the old image flashes for a second, before the new one appears ;-)

JQuery :: Resizing Div When Image Not Loaded Yet

Aug 23, 2010

I am loading an html page using the .load() function into a div called content. I have an overlay that is the same size as the div (I do this for a transparent effect).So with the .load() function in the callback I set the overlay div height to the content div height.. which works fine except when there are images. Since the images aren't loaded yet the div height will be smaller than actual size.[code]and the html file can include anything such as video or images.I tried doing a .delay(1000) just to see if that would fix it but didn't seem like the delay was working.How would I properly set the overlay div height to the content div height AFTER the images have been loaded?
