View 3 RepliesI found a menu that operates like I want it to (except it needs to open to the left, instead of the right), but no matter how I put the code into my page, it just screws the page up.....terribly. I have been trying to get a similar menu to work (anylinkmenu), but it is not very good, so I want to use this one instead.
I need the menu to open to the left of the "Facebook" icon at the top of my page in the header. I have put all the code on here below (only the code for the actual menu...not for jquery-1.3.2.min.js or jquery.ui-1.7.min.js.

Is it possible for an AJAX request to be left open for multiple responses? This could avoid repetitive polling of the server.

When you hover over the items on the right and the drop downs begin to appear they drop down and fold out to the right and consequently off the page and not very visible. Is there a way to tell the drop downs to roll out to the left instead of right?

I have a div that is set to overflow auto allowing the content to scroll left and right. This is because the content I am putting in it (a series of input boxes) is considerably wider than the containing div. The way it sits, when I start in the first input box and continually tab to the other input boxes, the focus goes from the left of the screen to the right. Once it hits the input box to the right of the screen, some of the input box is hidden to the right. As I tab to the input boxes to the right, each one has a portion of the element cut off by the view window.
What I want to happen is when I start at the left most input box and tab over, as I reach the center of the viewable part of the container, I want the input boxes to continue to center themselves until I reach the last ones. I think that telling each input box to center itself in the visible window of the containing div as it gets focus would work, I just don't know if there is an easy way to accomplish this using javascript I am using the mootools framework if that helps my case any.

Probably I should change this part: javascript:void window.open

At my job we have computers that are set up with restricted rights. Firefox 2 is the default browser (good call), but for some reason a site that the user has to visit is IE only (yeah, wtf).
We have a webpage open with a link to that IE only site, now is there a way to open that link in IE from FF? We have full control over these machines, so we could install batch software or whatever it would take.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know anything about JavaScript but I found a really cool snippet I use a lot. It will randomize images and each image can open a new link. It looks like this [code]...
Now, my question is, can I link to open a document within an iFrame on my page?
Please don't tell me not to use iframes or whatever, I'm not a professional, just want to see if this works.
the idea below is based on the Sitepoint's article about New-Window Links in a Standards-Compliant World
The idea is not to use the rel attribute but rather check if the domain is different from the one to which the page belongs. Code:

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I let link page open using IE? For example, I open a webpage using firefox or chrome/opera/safari. When I click the link, open the link using IE

I've got a link that launches a little AJAX application in a window.
Like this:
function launchListener()
{
var newWindow = window.open("listener.php", "newWindow",
"width=300,height=150");
}
Ideally, once this window is loaded, it will sit in the background and
wait for stuff to happen. I would like to then change the title bar to
denote changes. Simple enough, right?
Anyway, problem is: When the new window launches, its title is not
exactly what I assign it in "listener.php" (for instance, "Listener"),
but rather "http://155.55.55.55 - Listener" (or whatever). This means
that while sitting the taskbar, generally all the user is going to see
is a domain name and some dots, rather than what I want them to see.
I have 4 images on a page and when someone clicks on one of them I open a
secondary window and write a few lines to it describing the image.
If they don't close that secondary window however, and click on another of
these 4 images, my write commands print further down on that secondary
window.
I was reading through an old javascript book that talks about the
win1.document.clear(); method, but information on the Internet tells me that
this is now obsolete, or was just working on Netscape.
So then I decided to close the secondary window before re-opening it. But if
the user _did_ close the secondary window, I get an error saying that the
window I'm trying to close is already closed (or doesn't exist to be exact)!
Is there a way to clear the document in a window that I opened and wrote to?
Or is there a way to detect if win1 exists or not? If it exists, I would
close it. If it didn't exist, I would just re-open a new one.
I have a form that I would like to get the values entered on the page
and go to a new page in the same window. I can make the code work to
open a new window, but I need it to open in the same window. Here is what I have:
function pass_info() {
var info = "";
info += document.form2.productWeight.value;
window.open("/page/shippingrates/calculate_shipping_before.asp"
+ "?" + "weight=" + info,");
}
I know that it is the window.open, but I have not figured out what I
need to do to get it in the same window.
I have the following:
$(".buy_icon").click(function () {
window.location = "http://www.theuntappedsource.com/results.php?category=422"
});
Which opens the url in the current window when the icon is clicked.How would I open the url in a new tab?I should mention that I can't simply use an anchor tag.
The thing is that i got this script:
Easy script but when you click button it takes you the the URL but i want it in a new tab
I have a php page which uses the following javascript code to open another page (The users profile page) and alos carry over the userID (dUid)
var userProfileUrl = chatProfileUrl+dUid.replace(/_/gi,"");
document.getElementById('userdetails').innerHTML += "<span class='userinfo' onClick="window.open('"+userProfileUrl+"','"+dUid+"')"><img id='profile' style='cursor:pointer;vertical-align:middle;padding-top:4px;' src=images/zoom.png> View Profile</span></br>";
I wanted to add to the menu another image link so I copied the same coding, but I do not know where to place the URL target that I want opened. I know I want the userID (dUid) also to follow this link as well. If I want the coding below to act in the same manner as the coding above, but instead open a page called /gift.php, where do I set the Url?
document.getElementById('userdetails').innerHTML += "<span class='userinfo' onClick="window.open('"+userProfileUrl+"','"+dUid+"')"><img id='profile' style='cursor:pointer;vertical-align:middle;padding-top:4px;' src=images/gift.png> Send Gift</span></br>";
