browser?
I have taken over a previously designed site. I need to show the actual page url in the browser's address box. For purposes of being able to create links (in emails, etc.) which point the customer directly to the product on the site. As of now, you can only go directly to the home page.
The site is: [URL]
We want to display this popup (or overlay) that says "you are leaving this site...etc." when a user leaves our site. This is all good when a user clicks on an external link from within our site. But, what if user just starts typing a new URL in the browser address bar? Lets say my site is called cnn dot com. The user is browing cnn dot com and then starts typing nytimes dot com in the same browser window and hits enter. At this point, we would like to display that pop up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know how to click a link to show a hidden div. However, how can I hide the div when users click anywhere in the browser? I would like some behaviour like "releaseOutside" in javascript.
I search this forum and find some code to try, but it doesn't work. When I click the link, the div does not show anymore (if I took out the document.onclick function, the div shows). Here is my code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function showdiv() {
document.getElementById("mydiv").style.display = "block";
return false;
}
document.onclick = function() {
document.getElementById("mydiv").style.display = "none";
}
</script>

<a href="#" onclick="return showdiv()">Link</a>
<div id="mydiv" style="display:none">bah bah bah...</div>
Why does a comment tag hide the havascript if the browser does not support javascript? I thought comment tags were for comments not to hide things...
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince the code is triggered ever onclick event it may be resource hungry on large pages.
I guess desired upgrades to suit it more for general purpose and reuse would be:
1> Replace document.write with a way of altering the CSS class rule property. Hard part on this after reading quirksmode would be in targeting the CSS rule in a cross browser, not to intensive way.
2> Find a better cross browser trigger attachment than the current firing on every click.

I'm using the scroll function with a layer containing a graphic that sits over the slider on the y axis. This works fine in IE but overhangs the lower scrollbar arrow in Netscape, Firefox and Opera, killing its functionality, so I'd like to hide it in these browsers.
Could someone show me the best way to work a function that says (taking the layer ID as 'Bar')
IF browser = IE
THEN 'Bar' = visible
or (better?)
IF browser <> IE
THEN 'Bar' = hidden
And how should I allow this to behave in Safari?
I have been looking for a solution for a long time. I have embedded a SWF app in html page using SWFObject. Now I need to give the Flash app the address where it is currently embedded, since the same SWF file is embedded in more than one locations! So the Flash app is supposed to pull the right content according to its current position

Is there a way in Javascript, or perhaps in HTML, to force a browser to
re-render an image on an HTML page after a round-trip between the client
and the server ?
In my particular case, the image is changing on the server although the
URL for it remains the same, but the browser is still displaying the old
image from its cache rather than the new image from its URL location.

Nothing is being output on the page at all. I've tried to patch this together from various example on various web sites. How can I make this work?
On my site i use a lot of features that are unsupported by older browsers, and right now it looks pretty stupid when the features are only partially shown. So i was wondering if there's a way of making the browser look to different css files depending on which browser and version it is. For example, css3 gradient backgrounds are supported in firefox 3.6 or something, but not in 3.0. All the hacks out there is to 3.*, so it changes for the allready working 3.6 too if i hack it. I want to controll it so that i have a specific css file for the none-supporting version and lower and one for the supporting and above. I looked at a bad browser plugin (because it has some of the basic features im looking for)
