JQuery :: URL Not Showing In Browser Address Box?
Feb 17, 2011
I have taken over a previously designed site. I need to show the actual page url in the browser's address box. For purposes of being able to create links (in emails, etc.) which point the customer directly to the product on the site. As of now, you can only go directly to the home page.
The site is: [URL]

I apologise if this is in the wrong section. I have built a website using iframes at: [URL] but when clicking through the menu, the address bar still stays at [URL] no matter which page is loaded into the iframe. I have seen a number of javascripts around that can change this, but most do not seem to work anymore. Has anyone a sure way to correct this please :)

We want to display this popup (or overlay) that says "you are leaving this site...etc." when a user leaves our site. This is all good when a user clicks on an external link from within our site. But, what if user just starts typing a new URL in the browser address bar? Lets say my site is called cnn dot com. The user is browing cnn dot com and then starts typing nytimes dot com in the same browser window and hits enter. At this point, we would like to display that pop up.

I made this webpage. It runs with a simple javascript function that changes the content in the window when you click on the menu buttons. the only problem is there are no vertical scroll bars when viewed in any browser. There seems to be a place for them but no actual scroll bar. I tried modifying the color and such with cs but it didn't change anything.
The site: [url]
Here is all the code starting with the html, then the css, and the two javascript pages

I'm not much of a javascript developer. This is my second project using collapsing/expanding content.
Code has been simplified for display here.
The code below works, but any time someone clicks the [-] or [+] to expand or collapse rows of the table, the browser flips the user back to the top of the page. This happens in FF and IE.
Code:
<table>
<thead>
<tr>
<td>Column 1</td>
[Code]....

On my site i use a lot of features that are unsupported by older browsers, and right now it looks pretty stupid when the features are only partially shown. So i was wondering if there's a way of making the browser look to different css files depending on which browser and version it is. For example, css3 gradient backgrounds are supported in firefox 3.6 or something, but not in 3.0. All the hacks out there is to 3.*, so it changes for the allready working 3.6 too if i hack it. I want to controll it so that i have a specific css file for the none-supporting version and lower and one for the supporting and above. I looked at a bad browser plugin (because it has some of the basic features im looking for)

I'm currently using the jCarousel plug in to display multiple addresses for a company and it works great, up until I add a new address for the company a new <li> in the <ul> list. Then my jCarousel stops working.I understand the answer is to use the new delegate method but I haven't been able to find the right way to use it.[code]How do I modify this code so that I can use delegate?

I'm using tablesorter in my app and it's working great except.. the ip address sorting seems to be slightly broken. It will sort on the first two groups fine, on the third group it tries to sort once and gets it wrong and on the last group it won't sort at all.bob
After a bit of debugging the issue is that an ip address is being detected as a digit, i.e 192.168.1.100 is detected as the number 192.168 and hence only sorting on the first two groups. I fixed this by moving the digit to the end of the parsers. This is not a proper fix but works for me. Secondly the parser needs to be changed as follows. Without the debug line obviously. It was limiting each group to 2 characters and only sorting the first two groups.

I need to retrieve part of a web page pointed to by a link <a class="fetch" href='web_page_address'> ... The part I want has an id of 'unit_descr'. When I know the address beforehand and can enter it manually without fetching it, this works:
[Code]...
I suspect that $('a.fetch') selects a complete JQuery object whereas I only want the content. Given that I can get hold of the content and put it into the url-variable,I am also not sure whether it is OK to use url +' #unit_descr' to construct the argument for the load function.

There is a website that allows unlimited voting for one of my friend's sons. Someone else has been automating the process because another person received 14,000 votes in about an hour.
So my question is: [url]
How can I pass a parameter at the above site so that it votes for the selected person (example - PJ Howell) without clicking the name and then hitting vote?

I'm using jquery address for my tabs. It all goes really well but I have a problem with an leading slash (/) in the address in the browser. Clicking one tab (f.e. Home) the diplayed link is .../#Home. Everything looks fine. After the click, the tab is opened, but the browser shows something like this: .../#/Home. Do you see the extra / after the #? I can't image where it comes from.
Here some code:
Tabs:
<div id="tabs"><ul>
<li> <a href="/static/home" title="Home">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="#Vorhersage" title="Vorhersage">Vorhersage</a></li>
<li><a href="/static/klamotten" title="Klamotten">Klamotten</a></li>
And the js:
var tabs,
overview = 'Home';
linkSelector = '#tabs ul:first a',
contentSelector = '#tabs div:first',
currentSelector = function(value) {
return 'a[href=#' + value + ']';
};
$.address.init(function(event) {
$(contentSelector).attr('id', overview);
tabs = $('#tabs')
.tabs({
selected: $(linkSelector).index($(currentSelector(event.value))),
fx: { opacity: 'toggle' }})
.css('display', 'block');
$(linkSelector).address();
}).change(function(event) {
$.address.title($.address.title().split(' | ')[0] + ' | ' +
$(currentSelector(event.value)).text());
}).externalChange(function(event) {
tabs.tabs('select', $(currentSelector(event.value)).attr('href'));
}).history(true);
