Jan 20, 2011

I have to make a digital clock (which i did figure out) but the number needs to be images with the numbers on them. (ex.: (an image of the number 1+an image of the number 2+image of number 0+images of number8) would be 11:08))

Here's what I have so far. Do I need to use <img src=""> in a function then call the function for my images?

Automatically Changing Background Color Of A Table Cell?

Jul 23, 2005

I'm the webmaster for a recreational organization. As part of one page of the
site, I have an HTML "Calendar at a Glance" of the organization's events for
the month. It's a simple table of a calendar, 7 across by whatever needed
down, and I manually create it each month - not a big deal.

Every day I go in and darken the background color of the current day's cell
by changing the appropriate <TD> entry to <TD bgcolor="c63800"> and uploading
the page. Takes well under a minute start to finish. Thus the calendar
gradually changes color over the course of the month, with the past dates dark
and the future dates lighter and thus more apparent to the eye.

But I have to ask if there's a nifty way in which this might be done
automatically, based on the current day and the number (the day of the month)
that follows the <TD> entry.

A typical "before" entry is

<TD>23<br>Peet's Coffee, Newport Beach<br><br>8 AM: Don<br>9 AM: Molly</TD>

and an "after" entry is

<TD bgcolor="c63800">23<br>Peet's Coffee, Newport Beach<br><br>8 AM: Don<br>9
AM: Molly</TD>

I don't pretend to be a javascript heavy, but can usually stumble my way
through a task given some words of wisdom. Is this "doable"?

Create Elements For Image Displays?

I'm trying to use an ajax function to load filenames into a text area. This works and is not the problem. Then I read the contents of the text file and create an array of file images. The images can be .jpg, .gif, etc. Again no problem. However, when I try to create new <img ...> elements with a 'createElement' function, I get major errors. I think the problem is in the 'AddImage()' function in the code below.

How EBay Displays Image Previews -- Assistance In Re-creating

Jul 20, 2005

EBay has implemented a different way to upload auction pictures ---
after browsing for the picture and selecting it, the image preview
instantly displays on the screen, which is nice. Apparently this
process is being handled locally --- could someone try to re-create
this ? ... I imagine its using DHTML or some other technique, I'm not
sure how I would code this.

How To Get The Private Key For Digital Signature?

Mar 31, 2007

My web application does user authentication through X.509 digital
certificates in combination with user name and password.

When the user applies for a digital certificate from my certification
authority (CA), I have a VBScript code that generates a public/private
key pair with the RSA algorithm, as well as the certificate signing
request (CSR) in PKCS#10 format. I assume that the key pair should be
maintained by the browser (my application support Internet Explorer
only at this moment). Am I right?

Now, when the user tries to log into his account, I would like to have
my web application receive a digitally signed token from the client.
The token can be the client's username signed with his/her private
key.

Since this signing process will happen on the client side, it can only
be handled by client side script, for example, JavaScript.

But, how do we get access to the private key with JavaScript?

OnClick - Show Image + Link - Displays Whenever The User Selects A Combination

Nov 14, 2010

I opted to use JavaScript & PHP (instead of Flash) to create a sort-of "t-shirt designer" -- basically, it's a gallery-type script that allows users to scroll through t-shirt styles, swap colors, and so on, prior to reaching the actual design tool. And I'm starting to regret.

It's actually working very well so far, except for one thing: I want the t-shirt option that the user selects to link the user to the design tool. The "gallery" already has an image for each possible option that displays whenever the user selects a combination, but I want to make that image is a clickable link.

I have no idea where to start -- I know next to nothing about javascript -- and to accomplish this in Flasjh I'd have to start this stupid basic thing all over again from scratch, and it would defeat the point of not using Flash in the first place, so

JQuery :: .append Automatically Closing Html Tags?

Oct 19, 2010

I have a system receiving an html document as an array of lines, an am inserting this into a div using .append().

If an html tag is opened in 1 line (array element) of the string, and not closed within the same line, .append() automatically closes the tag on the same line, though there is already a corresponding close tag later in the html string.

Minimal test code:

$(document).ready(function() {
var testString = [ "<pre>Test line 1
", "line 2
", "line 3</pre>" ];

Is there an append alternative without this behaviour?

JQuery :: Automatically Change Image Every Xx Days?

I wonder if there is a way I can make the background image I use for my website to automatically change into one oftheimages I would have in a specific directory on my ftp. For example, if I had 4 pictures in a directory on my ftp, I would like my website to automatically change the background into one of the other 3 images in the directory every Monday. I would prefer if it would do this in a sequence (first the 1st pic, then the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and loop), but a random selection would be fine too.
