Getting Link Color - Write A Php Script To Differentiate A Real Human Visitor From A Bot
Sep 27, 2010
I am trying to write a php script to differentiate a real human visitor from a bot.
One idea I read about and what to use is having PHP print a page containing a invisible hyperlink to it's self.
This should make the links color purple or whatever a:visited color is set.
A bot does not render links, thus will not see color change. Therefore, if the links color changed we can be certain it is a real human and not a bot.
Is there a way to use javascript to get a link's color?

I want to make the date at the top right darker blue. But when I do that, all the light blue text next to the pictures also changes.
How can I control the color of the result of document.write output without changing the forground color of the entire page? Note my document write includes variables, so I was hesitant to imbed an html command in the document.write.

I am trying to show a timestamp in a tooltip and it is telling me the date is 'invalid'. However if I alert() out the variable, and hardcode it directly into the statement it works fine. For some reason it appears to be disliking the variable itself. My guess is that it is trying to read 'x' as a date and not a variable containing a date, but I have tried several ways around it to no avail.
Code:
Code:
the above returns with the date as I expect it to.
The showTooltip function requires 3 parameters, (x Position of tooltip, y position of toolip, contents of toolip) x and y are datapoints plotted on a graph
Not that it should matter but I am working with jquery.

I'm trying to change the value of an input field (target) which depends on another input (source). It works well when I manually change the source value. But if I changed the source value with another button, the target value remains the same.
Here's the code...
$(document).ready(function() {
$('input#change').click(function() {
$('input#source').attr('value', 'This is the value changed by a
button');
[Code].....
So how could the target input detect if there's a change within the source input without manually changing it's value?

i want to write a script through which the color of some text changes whenever a mouse is passed over it. the text is basically a heading. this part comes in the script in the <head>
function mouse1()
{
document.getElementById("b").style="color:red";
}
function mouse2()
{
document.getElementById("b").style="color:white";
}
and this comes in the main body:
[Code]...
as you can see, the default color should be white, and whenever the mouse passes over it, it should turn red. however, it is not doing so, the text remains white when the mouse passes over it.

I've got a little Quizzer program that asks a question in the upper frame of a frameset and then lists the answer in the lower frame. Answers can be plain text, straight html, a sound, or a LINK. I have a function that builds the answer frame using document.write(among other things). This code works fine until you encounter a link. It dutifully displays the link in the lower frame but the very next question builds the newContent perfectly but does NOT write it to the frame even though it appears to execute it.
if (answerType == "link")
{
parent.frames[1].location = URL;
} else {
// pitiful attempt to clear linked page
parent.frames[1].location.href = "QuizzerAnswer.htm";
var newContent = '<html><head><title>Quizzer Answer</title>'
newContent += '</head>'
newContent += '<body>'
if (answerType == "text" || answerType == "html") {
newContent += answerValue;
}
if (answerType == "sound") {
newContent += '<embed src="' + answerValue;
newContent += '" width="170" height="25" autostart="true">'
}
newContent += '</body>'
newContent += '</html>'
parent.frames[1].document.write(newContent);
parent.frames[1].document.close();
}

I need to get the css hover color of an element. Since hover is a pseudo class of a class or id, I do not see a way of returning the color. I tried: $('.contentArea a:hover').css('color'); but it does not return the hover color. I understand that jQuery probably traverses the inline styles and there is no way to set the hover pseudo class inline, hence the reason for the .hover function. Is it possible to find and return the hover color with jQuery. If so how?

I am trying to change the color of a link after it has been clicked on WITHOUT using CSS.
When the link is clicked some javascript is called. I can do this in IE by adding this "this.style.color = 'black'". However this doesn't work in other browsers. Anyone know how I could get this to work in other browsers?

I'm a member of a forum the for the Winter season has changed it's CSS a:link color attribute to a more winter themed colour. However I want to revert back to original as I don't particularly like the new colour.
My theory is to create a small JS file, that I can define Opera (my browser) to load when loading the site, which will change the colour of links back to the original colour. I have the colour code HTML I want to change it to.
I've only ever done a small amount of JS coding but from the research I've done it should go something like this,
document.style.alinkColor = "COLOR"
I got to that via discovering that
document.style.backgroundColor = "COLOR"
will change the background colour attribute, however it doesn't seem to work. I think my problem lies somewhere in the attribute name, I know the usually with JS CSS Attributes you would make the attribute starting with a lower case letter and the sub-attribute (e.g. the color bit) starting with an upper case.

Here is my code:
