I am searching a solution to change a ComboBox by popup I have found this script on the web. Is it also possible to select the newVendor just after adding? Is this script ok or are there better solutions?
<script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function message(value){ if(value=="newVendor"){// New Vendor is selected var vendor = prompt("Vandor's Name",""); var elementSelect = document.getElementById('vendor'); try{ [Code]....
Here is my options select from my form. Its dynamically generated with php. Code: <select id="upgrade[]" name="upgrade[0]" onchange="javascript:calTotal(this);"> <option value="1">1</option><option value="2">2</option> </select><br /> <select id="upgrade[]" name="upgrade[1]" onchange="javascript:calTotal(this);"> <option value="1">1</option><option value="2">2</option> </select><br /> <select id="upgrade[]" name="upgrade[2]" onchange="javascript:calTotal(this);"> <option value="1">1</option><option value="2">2</option> </select><br />
Using javascript I want to get the selected value. Here is what I have, but its getting no where: Code: function calTotal(aVar) { var c = document.getElementsByName(aVar); c = c.length ? c : [c]; for(var i=0; i<c.length; ++i) { if(c[i].value==1)//I am getting undefined here { } } Is there a way to loop through an array of option selected like the one I have here?
I'm trying to automatically generate a new <option> tag in a html form using the below code, but it's not working. The get_lightboxes function is being called via the add_to_lightbox functon.
Javascript: function get_lightboxes(title, new_lightbox_id){ var new_option = document.createElement('option'); new_option.text = title; new_option.value = new_lightbox_id; var select_box = document.getElementByID('lightbox_select'); [Code]...
Ok the setup is basically this. The user selects a option in a drop down field, whatever they select through javscript additional records are populated in a second select field. This second select field allows for multiple selections, however I am submitting the form to a php script and I want to capture the multiple selections in the second select field. To do that for php I need to turn the field into an array so I have to add the brackets, [], to the name of the select field.
In php you can name the field like so:
Code: <select name="fld[]" size="1">
The problem is in the js function when I give it a field name with [] the script doesnt work. Here is the js function:
Code: function channelform(select_value) { IntPath = document.channel_form.cid[] TheOptions = IntPath.options.length
[Code]..
You can see the [] for the cid field name. Whenever I add that to the field name the js script is broken. How do I get it to work so that I can pass an array to php when the form submits?
I'm making a form with some select options, and when clicking an option from the drop down, another option will appear.
The thing is that it seems to work in the most common browsers, but for myself, as a beginner in Javascript, I don't know if it's written the correct way. What could be done better?
Aswel, before I write further to this part of code, I want to know that the value of the second option will pass correctly via the PHP process script afterwards... because initially, the second option is not mentioned in the .html file, it comes in virtually by the javascript.
I am having a problem with a simple javascript validation routine for a drop-down list, which works fine when there is only one form on the web page, but breaks when another form is added. I am new to javascript, so I expect this is a simple error in syntax.
I want to use a drop-down menu selection option to submit a form. But the form's contents change depending on the option. This is the basic form: <FORM ID="go1" METHOD="POST" TARGET="_self"> <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=UserID VALUE="<%UserID%>"> <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=Password VALUE="<%Password%>"> <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=SubUnitID VALUE="4266"> <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=PageID VALUE="1"> <INPUT TYPE="IMAGE" class="hand" border="0" src="/images/my.gif" width="45" height="26" vspace="5"> </FORM>
At the moment, it's an image which gets clicked on but it needs to be the option chosen. I think I can do that with: function gotoPage(s){ var v = s.selectedIndex; var select = document.forms.form.elements.input; // selects question if (v == 1){...} if (v == 2){...} etc.
However, as I said, the form's contents must change depending on the option chosen: The form's values which change are: <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=SubUnitID VALUE="4266"> <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME=PageID VALUE="1">
I am allowing a user to selected a date to schedule an event and it seems like the best way to do this is with drop down menus for Year, month, date. However I would like to make it so when you choose a year and a month the appropriate days for that month show (i.e. 28 days if you chose February 2006). I can easily do this with a loop if I can find out what month the user has selected, but I can't seem to find a way to get that value. Is there a simple javascript solution to this problem?
I'm trying to get the value of a selected option value. I've tried using getElementById("fieldname").selectedIndex.value and formname.elements["fieldname"].options[selectedIndex].value with no joy.
I don't know if this is something you could do without JavaScript, but anyways... I want to make a drop down menu that changes a form based on the option, like if I chose Option1, it would show Form1 and so on.
I'm new to JavaScript. I'm trying to create my form in such a way that if 'Premium' is selected, a the text box with label 'membership no' is displayed and if 'bronze' is select, the drop-down list 'sponsor' is displayed instead....here's what my form looks like...
Is this possible? Can I use JavaScript to edit a select form's option values given a certain condition?What I am trying to do is when a specific month is selected on my drop down select form (like february for example), to edit the day form so that it deletes teh options for 29, 30 and 31, thus not allowing the user to put in an invalid date.I know its only client side validation and thats fine. I am gonna do server side later.
how can I make it so whenever I select a different year or different month it doesn't reset the Day option back to option 1 (the option that's called Day), unless of course you select a day then change the month that doesn't contain that day (like if u choose january 31 and then select february, it obviously must reset).
For example, say you choose january and then the day 20. Now if you select february, I do not want it to reset the day back to "Day"
Instead, I want to make it so it stays on the day 20 since there is a 20th of February. But still, I want it to eliminate the options 29, 30 and 31.
Here is a working example of the drop downs http://ckeanedesign.t35.com/dob2.html
Here is the HTML code I am experimenting with (thanks to felgall)
In my list box if i select one item corresponding to that 4 fields has to be appear below the list box and if i select another item only 1 field has to be appear below the list box and if i select another item no fields has to be selected.
Is there some example js that shows how to populate a text field on a form, based upon what option is chosen in a select form field? The options can be hardcoded and it would be great to also have a default if js is off on the client side.code...
I am building a form with ColdFusion, HTML, and will be using some Javascript, and I wnt the javascript to tell one form object to display itself when a certain option is chosen from a <select> tag.
<cfquery name="getCategories" datasource="#mydatasource#" username="#myusername#" password="#mypassword#"> SELECT * FROM categories WHERE type = 'cat' ORDER BY id </cfquery> <cfform action="engine.cfm" method="post" format="html"> <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <tr><th colspan="2">New Category</th> </tr><tr> <td>Category Type:</td> <td><select name="type"> <option value=" "></option> <option value="cat">Main Category</option> <option value="sub">Sub Category</option> </select></td></tr> <tr><td>Name:</td> <td><cfinput type="text" name="title" size="20" maxlength="100" required="yes" message="A name for the category is required."> </td></tr> <tr><td>Parent Category:</td><td> <cfselect enabled="Yes" name="parentcat" multiple="no" query="getCategories" value="id" display="title" queryPosition="below"> <option value=" "></option></cfselect> </td></tr><tr> <td colspan="2"><cfinput type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" validate="submitonce" validateat="onserver,onsubmit"></td> </tr></table></cfform>
I want the <cfselect> tag to display on if Sub Category is selected on the first <select> tag. I expect that it will use the onchange attribute but other than that I have no idea.
I am trying to make an option calculator for my site. The user will click on various radio buttons and checkboxes, before pressing the calculate button. The button will then add up all the values to show the overall figure. The code shown below is what I have so far.
Code: function calcMe(){ for (var i=0; i < document.form.radio.length; i++){ if (document.form.radio[i].checked){ var rad_val = document.form.radio[i].value; }} if (document.form.radio1.checked) { document.form.result.value = rad_val; } if (document.form.radio2.checked) { .....
The first javascript is to show the value of the radio button with the textfield attached - when the user puts a number in the textfield, it will update the value of the radio button. The second javascript is to check the document for the clicked radio buttons and checkboxes. It then adds up all the clicked values to show the answer. The problem that I am having is to put these two javascripts together so as the radio button is updated with the text field value as well as adding up all the clicked values.
Does anyone know of a good option [using JQuery of course] that will add a vertical scroll bar to an HTMl form? I need to have some static position stay in my top div and only have the form be scrollable. In my search I only came across horizontal scrolls.
I am trying to display a rel of each option as they are selected into a div below it . There are several selects of classProductAvailability on the page. When one of the selects changes, I'd like the value of the rel of the selected option to display.At first it seems to work, but only if you start by changing the last pull down menu. The trouble seems to be in the"select.ProductAvailability option:selected", this needs to be written for this instance, not all of the selects of that class on the page. How do I write that, I've tried$(this+" option:selected") but it won't take.
what i want to do is have a selection from 'tst' trigger an input into 'choose' from the data inputted into the 'fname' and 'lname' fields.
for example, i want option '1', when selected to draw the input from 'fname' and place it into 'choose'
or i might want to select the data in 'lname' instead, so i will tie option 2 to it, so when the user selects option 2 the contents of 'lname' go into 'choose' instead.
I have a function that dynamically creates page (form) elements with the option to remove it.
Code: divcounter++; var element = document.createElement("input"); ... element.onclick = function() {removeElement('sel' + String(divcounter))}; [Code]...
For some reason divNum in removeElement() always returns the latest value of divcounter. So if I add 4 form elements, and I want to remove the 2nd item, item 4 is removed and above fuction returns an error when I want to remove another element afterwards because it is trying to remove the 4th element again.
First post here - I am trying to hide options in a form select field if they are empty. The code below works...but even I know it must be a horrid way of doing it! Anyone care to tidy it up for me? I would learn much from the experience,
I want to have several forms on one page that are not displayed until a selection is made from the category drop down box(select element). The form displayed will depend on the selection made. Here is the code I have so far.
