Basically I regularly use an html page in work that has a list of people and their telephone numbers. I want to be able to type in a searchbox on my main page and it open the target page and find the name I am looking for? Is this possible or can you only Find In Page on the same page or another frame?

What I have is a main page with one content div I wanted to switch based on which heading item a user chooses. Jun 21, 2011I would like to include drop-down navigation links on my home page that connect to other pages on my website. No problem there. The problem is that some of the other pages contain a series of div elements that are hidden (display:none) until activated by javascript enabled links on the page. Clicking those links changes some of the page's content (within a div) .. almost like a "new" page. [URL]. Here's my question: Is there any way to create menu links on my home page that will open the "concert.html" page AND display the appropriate div content at the same time?
For example: on the home page, a menu link under "Concert" that opens that page and automatically displays the "Rock Symphonies" section?

Gallery Coding - Not Working In IE?
Feb 6, 2011I've created a website for a client for their business, and the javascript is working in Safari & Mozilla, but not in IE. In IE you can click the image, but nothing activates. The ability to move from left to right to view images still works however. I'm wondering if having both of the javascript capabilities is fighting with the IE browser?I would love to hear of a solution - I'm not an expert in Javascript by any means.

Dec 14, 2011I've been struggling for the past hours to get this code to work, more specifically the nextImage and prevImage function. Everything else seems to be working well. What puzzles me is that it works randomly, meaning sometimes it will go next/prev and behave properly, others it won't. This is really the best I could do.

Nov 25, 2009I'm trying to find out how you would pull in specific elements from a HTML file using AJAX.
For example, my AJAX script takes in the URL of the HTML page I want to grab content from (this HTML page is on my server so there are no cross-platform security issues) and it pulls in the HTML document as a string of text rather than a XML/DOM document.
I want to be able to grab a DIV element with a specific ID and pull in all the content from that DIV element.
I know that JavaScript libraries have the ability to do this, but I'm not looking to use a library, I want to use my own Js code. For example this can be done using jQuery's load() method but again I'm looking to implement this with *home-grown* Js code and not have reliance on a Js library for this one aspect of my project.
Output From Search Function To Display On Separate Page?
Mar 15, 2010outputting the results from a javascript search function onto a new page. Right now I am using a javascript search script on 7 pages and it works but the results overwrite the current page that the search was initiated from. I would like it to open a new page and print out into a specific area. Im not really proficient in js, tho I know enough to get by. since ive been grinding my gears at work trying to get this to display right. Oct 11, 2011I have written the below script to swap images in a main viewer for a gallery on a website (I apologise if the script is not very elegant I have only just started learning JS).The idea is there are 2 divs one positioned on top of the other, when the user clicks on one of the thumbnail images the div on the bottom changes to the new image, then the top div fades to transparent to reveal the new image, then once the top div is completely transparent it's image is swapped for the new image and it is made opaque again.Anyway elegant or not the script works fine in Firefox, Safari, Camino and (shockingly) IE, but it doesn't work at all in Chrome.
