I need to upload a file from a known location on a server to a static FTP address. Now I was using Windows built in FPT client which is easy and I can create a text file which contains the FTP commands i.e open 10.10.10.10 put file1
for example, The problem is the name of the file to be uploaded changes and the ftp script is simply a DOS text file. I need to therefore ask the user for the name to the file to upload and then using this together with the FTP command (as all other infomation stays the same) to upload the file. I was thinking about creating a simple web page asking them to put the name of the file into the form hot go. It would be good if the JavaScript could then take the input from the from as the file name and then FTP this (from the source directory which always stays the same) to the destination which also always stays the same.
Unfortunately, the hover and visited commands do not seem to affect the code I have provided. We've managed to incorporate the a:link command, as you can see, but not the other style features. Is there any way of adding the a:hover and a:visited command to the script? I've put the bit that we need to add these commands to in bold. I have tried several permutations of these commands, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the text that is displayed.
Now that is fine when the text is only one line long. Suppose it's longer? What I want to do is have Javascript give the variable contentString its text from a hosted text file in a similar manner to the way Javascript can insert more Javascript using a hosted .js file.
I illustrate what I need to do using some "dummy" javascript:
Can JavaScript be used to write the output from an HTML form to a text file? The scenario would be that the form has text fields and checkboxes and will only output the text fields that have data entered along with the checkboxes that the user has selected.
I have a web server built in to our Student Data system. I want to put a teacher survey form out there but can't modify the DB and have no cgi ... darn proprietary web server.
Can I use JS to save form values to a separate text file? So far the best I can do is appendData() into the current html.
Is it possible to get js to load a txt file in your browser (location would be file:///C:/Documents and Settings/article.txt), grab the first line and put it in a form field with id "postingTitleField"? I've been trying to figure this out but I don't see it. I tried to google it but the best I came up with is writing to a text document, and that's not what I am looking for.
Is it possible using some kind of Script to get text/pictures/symbols from typed text and from a gif. file (already on the web site) to show on another place in the web site by clicking on a button. My coding is like this:
By pressing "Show" I want the text typed in the form to show on the same site, and then the user should have the opportunity to also place a symbol (the gif. file) the same way as the text and to be viewed on the same site too.
so I have a html page with the following code included in it:
[Code]....
how would I reference the contents of the text box in a separate Javascript file? I have tried document.form.UserInfo.value and many, many variations and just can't get it to work. I presume it has something to do with the paragraph having the same name?
am very new to JQuery. I need to create a form, which will take username and email id and store it in a text/csv file.I do not want to use PHP/ASP.I am familiar with Java script. Is there a way I could do this?
I'm writing a script and I've encountered a problem.. I have a txt file with many words, each word in a different line. For example: the file words.txt contains:
word1 word2 word3 word4 word5
I need to load the content of the file into a variable in my script. I prefer that all the words will be in the same variable with line breaks, but if you'll figure out a way to put it in an array, it's ok too. I really don't know how to do it, and I tried to google but didn't understand.. By the way, I don't want to change the txt file to js file, I need it to remain txt..
I wanna send a file thru the JQuery.load, I want it to work exactly like the regular post without the JQuery. So I can check the $_FILES['file']['error'] in PHP and all its features like I do without using JQuery.
$("#load").load('gerenciar_itens.php',{/* This is where I wanna pass the file. */}, function(data){ alert(data); });
I have a problem with the latest version of the jQuery Form Plugin (2.80). To be more precise, I guess I am doing something wrong, and with an older version (2.67) somehow it didn't matter. With the old version, the file was uploaded without problems. Now Firefox opens a new Tab on clicking the submit button and nothing is done. Chrome doesn't open a new tab, but also nothing happens. In Wireshark I can see that there is no file attached in the POST message with the older version, the file was sent.My first guess was that my file handling on the server side is erroneous - but on the other hand, when there is no file attached, what should I handle there?
I'm trying to get the full path of a file with a file uploader form with FF. I see HTML5 permits this but I cannot find any concrete examples to access this value from a normal html file uploader form.
I have a folder of images from which I access individual pictures using the ID[Who] variable index passed down from the parent frame plus a local index variable p.
where an example file in Photos is PhotosAndiamo1.jpg, the ID in this case resolving to "Andiamo" and the local variable is = 1. This works great.
I would like to add a file of text captions associated with the pictures, preferably saved in the Photos folder such as PhotoAndiamo1.txt.
While I can fetch the images easily by document.writeing the <img ....> command, how do I do a similar fetch for the text data and document.write it to the HTML? (Short of the hassle of creating text images and fetching those.)
I implemented Malsups jquery form and use it for ajax file uploads. Works fine in FF, but in IE as soon as the ajax has completed the upload IE gives me a File Download box - Security warning. If I click on save it save thereturnedJson object (I do JS call onsuccessto get a file list and display it). If I click cancel or save on the popup has same effect the file still gets uploaded but just looks ugly.
How can I get rid of this? All coming form the same domain, calling from the same domain. This is on a python django project and I am testing it on the dev server.
Its pretty basic jquery nothing to exciting, don't get why IE would cause.
I have a form built and on the onclick event I validate all of the fields and then if the form is ok, on the submit event I run a javascript function to set a cookie and download a file from the current window.
I have a cgi script provided by my web host to send the contents of the form through email but they only show me how to use the cgi script to send email through the submit event of the form.
I am trying to use the LPR command inside a javascript to print a PDF file directly to the printer. Want just a simple webpage with a button which will print test.pdf when clicked. code...
I know very little when it comes to javascript. If you know of a better way to use the lpr command
I have created my second Form to File Web Form but basically I took my First Web Form coding (with the Java Script) and manipulated it so that it suited my needs for my 2nd Form (both are very close to being the same). For some reason, I can't get my Java Script validation to take effect. I was wondering if some one could try to pin point why it isn't functioning properly? Again it could be the most obvious thing, but please bear with me as I learn.Just for a little more clarity, I am going to list the things that I have changed to possibly make it easier to pin point:[code]
If I have a link to a URL such as <a href="http://www.mysite.com/somecode.htm?5">Link1</a>, and if I include javascript in the somecode.htm file, is there a javascript command that I can use which will read the argument 5?
For that matter, is there anyway to send an argument to the javascript code of an html link you are calling. Server scripts are not an option for me.
For example, assuming that index.htm contains 50 links, I would like each link to point to the same html file, but I want that javascript code in that html file to execute something different depending on which link was clicked.
My only other alternative would be to create 50 similar html files which to me looks like amateur or bad coding.
I'm working on integrating the a javascript wysiwyg editor (Xinha) with my blog software (ExpressionEngine, aka EE). EE has extensions now so it's easy to get the Xinha header code into the head section of the EE web page.
But Xinha likes to use an onload command to launch:
window.onload = xinha_init;
....and EE is already using the onload command in the body tag of the web page:
