However some buttons don't work on IE (like the "submit and "default values" battens).
Could someone please have a quick view and maybe tell me what should be changed?
I am having a problem with the submit() method that is driving me nuts. I'm using document.form.submit() with large text fields (approx. 2000 characters) and am getting a "Invalid Syntax" error. If I do the same thing with a text field of under 1500 characters, it works fine.
Is there some size limit here that I don't know about?
Does "document.formName.elementName.disable" work on hidden form text
elements? I have a form with some input fields that are associated with
some hidden text fields and I would like to disable all of the
categories inside the form when the page loads and only enable each
category as it is needed. Code:
I currently have a form named "survey". I found here a JavaScript to validate my form.
I am having serious issues with this script, either it won't execute at all (the form doesn't work, as well as the validation) or the form submits without validating the form.
Here is the current JavaScript I am using.

I have tried the jquery form plugin as in the examples and it worked pretty well.
Then I tried to handle the following form:
<form
id
=
"loginForm"

I have a simple js function to submit a form which works absolutely fine in Firefox, but in IE immediately brings up 'Internet cannot display the webpage', seemingly without actually processing anything. The javascript function itself is fine, as like I said, it works in FF.Does anything need to be changed on the control itself?
Code:
<td colspan="2"><a href="javascript:submitform();" class="button" name="submit"> Modify Booking</a></td>
I am doing form validation at college just now. The lecturer gave all of us this following example. But it doesn't seem to work in firefox. I have tried my own scripts and they seem to work so have no idea whats happening!

function ValidateForm(){
var msg='';
if(document.getElementById('CC').value==''){
msg+='- Please enter CC
'; .....
I am having some trouble with my javascript doing what I want it to, which is returning values (true/false || 1/0).I haven't used much javasript but I am experienced with C#, Java, Python etc so this is sort of new to me syntax wise.Here is what I have so far:http://jsfiddle.net/HpSyJ/1/note: for some reason css doesn't like jsfiddle :S, the error messages are hidden in my Notepad++ & firefox combo thoughReally all I want is when I hit submit, it runs an alert or changes the error message to visible.

Each button use the onclick to set the appropriate action link of the form. But I think this will just not work without JS so, is there any alternative for this?
I have been strugleing with this for day now - my submit does work i have put in the form1 part the value of TEST1 through TEST41 on the server side php script I am getting all NULLS with my $_POST - So either the values stored are getting clobered and being replaced with nulls or the ajax is happening and maybe that is the problem but the submit of the form is not? View 16 Replies View RelatedI am using a jquery form preview called Modalpreview.
[URL]
It works fine for previewing a single text area of a form, but what I'd like to do is have the other fields in my form appear in the preview as well. I know I can specify different fields by their id in the domready event, but I can't seem to get all fields to appear in the one modal window.
how to get this to work? Will I need to make changes to the javascript and css files also?
The current domready event:
<script type="text/javascript">jQuery(function($) {
$('form textarea').modalpreview();
});
</script>
I have a javascript function that hajack a form and update the DOM. Here is the function. This function hijacks a form and adds some lines to a table. The function works fine and the lines are addedto the table. But unfortunatly the image is not displayed. And when i click on the form that is generated bythe function 1 it is not hijacked by the function 2.
Function 1: Hijack AjouterMagasin
$("form[action$='AjouterMagasin']").submit(function () {
$("#magasinResult").hide();
$("#magasinLoading").show();

There are 3 buttons on a web page. On clicking each button a same popup window (say window1) opens up. Now there is another button on this popup window (window1), which further opens up to another popup window (say window2). On selecting some value from the 'window2', that value is passed onto the 'window1'. There is a 'Find' link on a 'window1', which calls a javascript function 'clicked()':

This full code works fine on my machine. But this code does not work properly when run on the client-side!, although the same server and the same deployed application is being accessed. There is no particular sequence/scenario but for eg.When say button1 clicked->window1 opens->window2 is opened->value selected->returned to window1->Clicked on Find-> clicked on Ok->returned on the main page.Then repeated the same scenario for say 3rd button. (Till now 'Find' link works fine).Now repeated the same scenario for 2nd button and here 'after' message is obtained but 'inside Find' is not printed!
I have a form setup so that when you enter something in a text field and click a button it checks to see if the value entered in the text field is the "correct" letter and if its right it changes the CSS property of a div container to be shown which then has a link to a the next question. So I don't really have a submit button because my form isn't setup to work with one.only problem is when you enter a letter and click enter it acts as a submit and the submit does nothing, which is what it's suppose to do.So what I'm asking is how can I get that button to respond to an enter instead of the default submit taking over the enter key?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the following function to validate a form:
function validateForm()
{
var s1 = document.forms["form1"]["strokes[1]"].value;
[code]....
In the following HTML code, when I change the value of one text field
then click "Modify" button, if the validation fails a message will
popup and the cotent of the form should NOT be submitted. (The actual
code connects to the database at the backend so I can check if the
value is submmited).
It works well in IE6.0 and Netscape 4.75.
But in Netscape 7.1, if the validation fails, the message pop up but
the form submit still go through. In another word, the return from JS
function inRangeInteger(), which is triggered by onChange event of the
text field, is ignored when the form submit. Code:
I have come across a problem with the onKeyDown event in some of my forms.
I'm using onKeyDown in <form> as a standard method to open my help screen
system throughout my system, but I have discovered that If I have a
<div></div> section somewhere and then load the contents of it from another
file using innerHTML after the main window is loaded, the onKeyDown event
doesn't trigger any more.
I'm using IE6 and the structure is:
In IE6 and IE7, the following results in an empty jQuery selector being returned:
$("form[name='formname']")
I tried matching on other attributes of my form such as:
$("form[method='post']")
which works without any problems.
It seems that the only situation that does not work is when trying to match the name attribute on forms. I am guessing this is just a browser bug/limitation but is it something jQuery could potentially work around? I just would prefer matching forms by name for certain situations since it makes the most sense semantically in many cases for me. Would love to know the reason why this happens. Found this bug first in jQuery 1.4.4 but forgot about it at the time until it just came up again which I replicated in version 1.5.2 and then again when I upgraded to test in version 1.6.4.
doing this ajax post request i get an error:
[Code]...
doing the same through the html form-element works, what could the problem be?
my error function returns 0 for the xhr.status, error for the textStatus and undefined for the errorThrown.EDIT: i just tried the http_post_field function of the php pecl library. this works aswell. could it be that my data string is not correct?
I wanted to know if document.getElementById works while accessing form elements. I tried doing this just for testing purposes
This code doesnt work
function validateForm()
{
var val = document.getElementById("id_login").getAttribute("value");
alert(val);
return false;

Why doesnt document.getElementByid work with form objects.it works with all non form HTML objects..
I have a simple form on my website which gives the user a instant-quote on our prices. The script doesnt work on the iPhone, which is something I would like it to do just in case someone tries it. Here is the Javascript:

My JavaScript Form Validation doesn't work at all in Netscape, but it works fine in IE.
I made some of the suggested changes which enabled it to work in IE. I couldn't make all the changes because then it didn't work in IE.
How can I enable this javascipt form validation to work in Netscape? When I use netscape, none of the alert boxes appear. It submits the form without validating anything.
In IE, I get all the alert boxes and everything is validated.
I have something like the following form:
<form action="/profile.php" method="post" id="profile_form">
... bunch of labels and input elements go here ...
</form>
Then a jquery call (which is supposed to serialize the form for ajax) in a <script> tag at the bottom:
$("#profile_form").submit(function() {
alert('never get here with firefox 3.6');
});
I get to the alert just fine using Chrome, IE8, Safari and Opera. This is with the latest version of jquery.
