I've got a document that I want to ensure always get loaded into the
top level document and not into a frame or iframe. I've got it figured
out how to detect if the document is loaded into a frame. But what I
want to happen is the HTML content in the iframe to be displayed in the
top level document w/o a return trip to the server.
Here's what I'm thinking:
function forceTopLevelDocument() {
if (top != self) {
//load the HTML from child document into parent document
//without a return trip back to the server
}
}
What I can't figure out is how to take the document loaded into a child
frame and push it's contents up into a parent frame.
I've spent the last few hours trying to make the jump from prototype to jquery. I'm trying to use jQuery's crossbrowser event handling but I can't seem to register the event. I've tried lots of combinations and permutations that I've seen on the web but nothing seems to be working so I must be missing something.
$(document).ready(function() { $(document).mousedown(makeDomPath); }); function makeDomPath(e)
[Code]....
and none of them fired. The goal here is to have a single event handler that catches all the mousedown events in the page.
I've a small external .JS library that allows a non code-savvy user to occasionally update a list of values that are read as a JS array and used to populate the <option>s of a <select> in the calling page's form.
Anyway, is there a way by which I can ensure, regardless of the user's browser settings, that the JS library is not used from cache but re-read each time, to ensure the up to date list is used?
If not, I might as well put the JS array code back in the calling page, especially as the split is for ease of use by the page's owner, albeit with increased change of editing errors. A database solution, etc., is inappropriate here.
Suppose a HTML document has a iframe. Using javascript,I want to detect ,on load of the html document, whether the body of the iframe document is ready to be displayed.I want to be able to overwrite the the body contents (before it actullay loads) of the iframe.can I do it with jquery? say if ,HTML doc is
Here is what I'm trying to do but the problem is "source.html" is not on a server somewhere. I am running everything locally. $('#container').load(source.html #sourceContent) Is there a way to do this exact thing but with a local file?
Dunno if its jquery or javascript but Irememberseeing somewhere that you can use code to load a document into your webpage. I want my site to be easy to update so that when I make a html change it will update throughout all of my pages. So I want to have the page load both the top and bottom parts of the page.
I would use a frame or iframe but those are not good for search engines.
Actually, I am building navigation menu in JS and have a problem with first page, when page loads for the first time.I would like to make ITEM02-SUBITEM02 active when page loads(applay some css, but this is no the problem).
I have an intranet web page with links to all kinds of Microsoft Word document that we use at my work, so my co-works can go to the web page when they need a special document. However, when they click the links the documents are of cause loaded in the web browser MS Explorer and not opened in MS Word, which is annoying.
Are there any tricks - in VBScrip, JavaScript, Java or simply in HTML, that let me load a Word-link in Word and not in Explorer?
I know how to get and change the current document's title, but what if I want to load the title of an external document and assign it to the current page?
I am working with a php in a facebook application and if I wait to load all the site take long time so my idea is to set a 'loading page..', in the mean time the php will continue working and will paste the result into a div then with jQuery I will show that div.
I am trying to create a xml document and load it into a 3rd party function as follows:
var doc = new ActiveXObject('Microsoft.XMLDOM'); // OR var doc = document.implementation.createDocument('', 'xml', null); o.overlayKML('somefile.xml'); // Works perfectly o.overlayKML(doc); // Doesn't work at all, return unsupport error
I get to know that the overlayKML (3rd party function) needs to read a physical file with a path and sadly it doesn't support DOM. How can I create a javascript document that mimic a physical file and introduce it into the function?
im trying to get the ajax .load() function working and its working correctly, but if i put a document.write function on a page that is getting requested through the .load function
I have some problems with the .load() function. On my local machine, everything is working fine. But, when I upload my document on my web server, the .load() function does not work anymore (with Safari, IE, Fx, ...) The code is here : [URL].
I'm building a tree control that lazily loads branches of the tree using the document.load() method.
The external XML document that is loaded is generated by a servlet as XHTML. What I would like to do is to add the new tree branch to the correct place in the document in the browser window using the innerHTML property of the parent node.
The relevant code snippet that I've written to do this is:
var target = document.getElementById(parentId); target.innerHTML = xmlDoc.documentElement.xml;
This doesn't work, furthermore looking at the W3C DOM API it would seem that the document.xml property is a Microsort proprietary extension which makes it unsuitable for my application.
i have a basic 2 column page, on the left is the navigation, on the right the content.i'm loading in the content with the load() method - some php generated html code which looks like this e.g.
so if i click on the toggle div.. nothing happens so i tried to put a <p id="toggle"> in the navigation bar which is static (not being load()-ed in via jQuery) and it worked so it seems to me, that jQuery can't get the click event out of the load()-ed page
I am experiencing unexpected behavior using $(document).ready() on a page where I inject jQuery after the page has loaded and then attach listeners to the ready event. The ready() event is never called using Firefox and Safari however it is called using IE. Is this a jQuery bug? Is it working as designed?
big fan -- first time poster. I've been learning javascript and jquery on the fly so bear with me if I seem to lack understanding of what may be semantic basics.
Anyway, I'm building a mobile app using phonegap. One page grabs data for a table from ajax, and each table element has a delete button in one of the cells. In short: the clicks aren't working. I put the alert in to test, and no dice. I'm not asking for help on the internals, I'm just stumped on why the function isn't being activated,
I want to load an html div in a variable, modify it in another variable; and then change the document injecting the contents.
1. I load the html to be changed in a variable (code) 2. I modify an attribute of <param> using attr() and I put the result in a var (newcode) 3. I change the html in the doc
I've used the debugger, and all steps give the expected results, except of newcode.html(), which is a null string. Why?
Im having trouble trying to access some values of the response from an API service. My code to connect and output for each item is working Ok getting the name and age. But I can't work out how to get the image urls.Clutching at straws I thought I could just target the first value stored using $imageURL = item.images['url'][0] but that fails.
Code: $.getJSON("http://api-address", function(data) { var html = '';
At certain times I need to prevent the user from clicking on elements in a div. I've tried giving the div an onclick that simply returns false, but the clicks still get through. In the simplified code below, the onclick is hardwired, but in real life it would be assigned dynamically. In this example, when I click the link to Google, I get the "yo" alert, but the Google page still loads. If it were just one link, I could disable it directly. But I'll be dealing with pages with lots of links on them. How do I do this??
3-level dropdown box: [URL]. Now in this dropdown menu if you select: Category > Cars Sub category Cars for Sale Sub Sub Category Ibiza
What I want to do is two things: 1)Place a value on all the Sub Sub Category(ies) so for example the value of Ibiza I want to = 55 2)Then Grab that value? How would I get that value and grab it from POST?
I would like to use the menu that is linked below. I implemented it on my website but I discovered that it can only go 2 levels deep. I would like it to go one more level and I think that would be done in the javascript but I can't tell for sure. Could someone steer me in the right direction? [URL]
