Error While Writing Scirpt Code In Action Attirbute Of Form Tag In Html
Jun 9, 2010
In the below code i tried to write java scirpt in action attribute of form tag in html . Why i wrote that was i want to get the scirpt variable as a part of the url of the target page. I also tried using the location.href="targetpage?value="+value . But It is not redirecting to targetpage because of the action attribute in the form tag. And if we use location.href without action attribute only that script variable was posted and all other remaining textboxes and other form items are being not posted .. Thats why I wrote the scirpt in action attribute. I want the action attribute to work and also the java script variable to be posted .so i wrote the script tag in action attribute of form tag .
I have come across a very interesting problem that seems to be impossible to solve. Basically a web application that I am working on relies on a JavaScript function called go to change the input named view to the page name and submit the form. This form's type is post, so no values are included in the actual URL string. There is also another input called action and it's value is view. This is to tell the application that the user would like to view a page. The problem is because of the variables being of method post, page refreshes and back and forwards return errors because the post variables view and action aren't sent with the required data. To somewhat solve this problem I have created a feature that tells the application that if the post value page is empty then to try and get a GET var called page. To insert this var into the go javascript function I simple add this code
This line basically adds &page=[page] to the action of the form. The problem is, this code doesn't work because action is also the name of a form element. Referencing document.go.action refers to the input element named action and not to the form's action. Changing the named of the action input value is out of the question (Way to much changing of code, and possible room for error). What can I do to change the action of the form without referencing the input named action. Here is my go form and the JavaScript code:
Ok, so i need help writing a java script that will look at a bunch of numbers and output the highest one so what i need is for it to do something like this.
(A is my input value)
(B is my output value)
the (A) value will be constantly changing and with the script has to do is look at all of those values and output them to (b).
I am writing a code to show the user, what data he had entered in ckeditor as rich text but after entering the text while the source is created for it, it is splitting from on line text to multiline text. So javascript is giving a script error. Is there any solution to retain the text in to single line..even if it is entered in multiline??
I have a very weired problem (which is not easy to describe.. but I'll do my best):I have a html page with several forms , only one of the got the action="ComputeAndReturn" and the other forms got only name="" tag.the problem is that after i submit the form with the action , and than after a computatioon it returns to the original page, now... if i will submit any of the forms without the action=.they will act as if they were defined action="ComputeAndReturn" (altho they are not!)if they were defined from the first time with action="anything", and than i would submit the form with action="ComputeAndReturn" this problem would not appear (the other forms will keep their action="anything" and would not "imitate" the action= "Compute AndReturn" to them selfs...
any ideas how can i keep my forms without action="" , cause all i need them to do is be submitted to pass the submitted value to other form inside that page.[code]
I want to change a div content in my page via javascript , the problem is the index.php file is coded and I can't read it , but I could execute some JavaScript codes from somewhere else .
The problem is that the <div> is in the lowest side of the page and my javascript code is above it , so The javascript code runs first and It couldn't find the div because it's not loaded yet my javascript code is something like this :
Working on creating my own plugin and realized that I would very likely end up doing this again in the future. Unfortunately, I have an extremely short memory when writing code. I frequently have to re-read the code I've created the day prior so I can get back on track with what I was doing. As such, I'm a fervent commenter in my code.
So, I'm creating a jQuery plugin framework with comments for everything that's going on in the framework to prevent my brain from having to re-learn everything in a month or so when I do another one.
Plugin-savvy folks to take a look at this code and help me fill in the blanks and make corrections to those places where I'm way off base. As you'll likely notice rather quickly, this is taken from the jQuery plugin tooltip construct found here: [url]
It works fine i.e. the event handler function foo is fired with the event parameter containing the event. I do the cross-browser thing to handle the event parameter var evt = (evt) ? evt : ((window.event) ? event : null); and I am all set
But when I try to do the same thing by scripting i.e. get the TD node via the DOM and add in the event handler like so var td=document.getElementById('tdid') td.onmouseover=function() { foo(event,this,"string"); |
It works in IE, but in Firefox (1.x), I get an error in the JS console "event is not defined".
Why is this? Any way to get consistent, cross-browser behaviour?
I've been using the document.write function to loop through some xml and print the data within a HTMl table. I thought it would be useful to add a hyperlink to the table row, so I thought the best way to do this would to create a function (called popup), which takes an id as a parameter.
The problem with this, is that when writeing using the onClick, the speech marks seem to all get messed up.
Code:
onclick='popup('"+mailID+"')'
I'm 99% sure it's just the speech marks, i'm just not sure of the right combination, and it's doing my head in
If someone could even point me in the right direction, even the proper name as to what this is called would be great, as googleing it is proving to be a nightmare!
Here's the whole section of code if it's more useful:
Code:
var mailID = x[i].getElementsByTagName("mailid")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue; if (r == "unread") { //email is unread document.write("<tr onclick='popup('"+mailID+"')' title='test'>"); } else { //else is read, so add colour
I am developing a web page . For this i am using Javascript embedded in html. In the application ,the user can input data via interfaces in the page which is chosen and read from a master xml file , the chosen data then needs to be stored and saved in a xml file.I have designed the web page in FrontPage.
Now the problem i face is while trying to save the output xml file i get error Permission Denied , error code 0 . This happens when i try to open the page in browser IE 6.0 SP2.I am using DOM parser methods for doing the xml manipulations/savings etc.urprisingly this works in another machine.Also can i use the all of the same javascript code if i want to run it in an IIS. Do i have to do some changes to make it server side javascript code.
I am working on a project involving the Google Maps api. I have an application that spits out a text file with lat/lng coordinates plus some other info. I'm trying to figure out how to get the data from the local text file into a javascript array that can then be used by the Google Map api to create the map.
Any suggestions on how to go about doing this? I'm fairly certain that there is not a way to do it just with Javascript, but I thought I would ask. If not, any suggestions on how to do it, perhaps with xmlhttprequest and a PHP script? I don't need the text file to actually be saved on the web server, but if that's the only option then I can go that route.
I made this function to duplicate form elements with a little html-code surrounding the input fields. First i clone the html of the first child found (always gets rendered by php). Then, everytime the add-button is pushed, i append a cloned piece of that stored html. It's working fine except for the delete button.
It's seems that whenever a cloned html is removed, the other cloned elements aren't recognized anymore by the delete buttons (although the delete buttons are in them)
How can I add an action to html generated by javascript?In the example below I add a link with the class 'example' to a div after a click on the 'test' link. (this is still working fine).Now, when I click the example link, nothing happens. How can I make this work?
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/ xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html lang="nl">
i can't figure this one out. from a main window i am opening another window with a form in it. this form has an inputbox. from the main window i want to write a value into this inputbox. so i need the handle from the child window and write the value into this form.
i tried using:
var chWindow=window.open('form_with_input.htm'); var chForm=chWindow.document.forms[0];
Having a little trouble of knowing where to start. I'm trying to take user inputted data options from a popup window form and put it in an existing form behind the current window.
I am trying to make a gui for clients to edit a php page that displays html and javascript.
I want the user to be able to move html elements around and even edit it like add effects like fade in and out etc.
Then after all the changes I want to overwrite the existing php file that does this for that user. how can you make such changes and then save it to a file?
It's an html / javascript editor but using a gui instead of allowing them to directly touch the code. It would be a security risk if I allow such a thing. So I need to program a interface that would make such changes and save them to file.
Like how can you delete and add new javascript code to the file?
I am working on a javascript for my blackberry. I am trying to capture the latitude and longitude of that phone. I am able to get the coordinates in an alert box but am having a little trouble writing it to a form input field.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "[URL]"> <html xmlns="[URL]" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head><title>GPS Testing</title> </head><body> <script type="text/javascript"> if(blackberry.location.GPSSupported){ document.write("Your device supports GPS locating"); blackberry.location.onLocationUpdate(window.alert("Latitude: " + blackberry.location.latitude + " Longitude: " + blackberry.location.longitude)); var lat = blackberry.location.latitude(); var lng = blackberry.location.longitude(); blackberry.location.refreshLocation(); document.write(lat); } </script></body></html>
I am only able to test with Blackberry. I was trying to create a couple of variables with the "var lat =" and var lng =". With this script I get the alert window and when I click ok it writes "Your device supports ...".
I have a form which needs posting the php script below. (I sent my vars to a cookie, which I have read correctly). This is the form command used in hoping to process my information.
Since most of this is new to me, please let me ramble in my thought process.
1. post the vars to a cookie 2. post the form pointing to the php script 3. read the vars in the php script 4. send the info from within the script
When I submit my form, I receive a dialog box stating the downloading this file can be dangerous. What happens is the php script is downloaded to my desktop - not executed. Code:
When I put the in, I get the error message "object doesn't support this action". I've also tried putting in after the </body> tag as another script...no go.
I'm setting the cookie with these lines in another function: varScroll = document.body.scrollTop;document.cookie("Position") = varScroll;
Any clues/suggestions greatly appreciated. I recently posted a similar question, but rearranged how I was doing it, still no luck, so I'm trying again.
