sort of made a thread about this earlier but I dont feel I explained the problem very well, if you go to http://love2-create.com and click on the orange "view profile" link about halfway down the left hand column a tab opens showing a profile with a small picture gallery at the bottom, this gallery works fine in firefox and google chrome, however in safari it works sometimes but not always and in IE it usually works on the first time the page is loaded but then when the page is refreshed and the profile link is clicked I get an Error: 'document.getElementById(...)' is null or not an object on line 60,the lines in question look like this:
HTML Code:
buildcontentdivs:function(setting){
var alldivs=document.getElementById(setting.id).getElementsByTagName("div")
I have a html document when i run in Internet explorer i am getting the desired output(j query working fine). But i copy pasted the same code in aspx page...the same code is not working properly...
im working on my online portfolio and I have an external javascript file that has functions to add a piece to the collection...here is the link to my pageillustratorthe javascript file is herehttp://www.freewebs.com/harrisonengl...ngleweb/add.jsas you see some of the pieces will show up, and some wont. they are all going off the same function, and all work when i run the html off my computer harddrive rather than the freewebs server.Also, i understand that formatting of the site will get all messed up when it is ran in different browsers... for instance it works in firefox and safari now, but not IE and Chrome
This script is supposed to tally the score of the questions. It shows up fine but it does not tally the score :confused:

It works perfectly in Firefox and Chrome, but in IE 7/8 it doesnt do anything. In fact, in IE the inputs that I insert dinamically when I press the button " agregar" doesnt appear in the page, but they are there, because when then when i do the Insert I have all of that dinamyc inputs that I put. The problem is that they are not shown in the page.
I have no clue what is throwing this error. What am I missing?
I have jQuery auto tabs for the 'billboard' area. On active tab, I absolute position & z-index links over top the 'tabs' to link to the other pages in the site. The links work on all except IE6/7. IE6/7 link to the anchor fragments.
iam either being really dumb or something is way wrong with the code. i am trying to create a fade in / fade out effect. i know there are tons of scripts out there that do this, but i like to do it myself. my script is only working in firefox at the mo (when it works il cater for other browsers). basically i can get the fade out part to work, but when i want to fade back in it does nothing. now logically id of thought that fading in would be the same as fade out but reversed.

I'm having a problem on a particular site I am working on.
The URL is [url]
The problem is that when I try to close the browser in IE on the main page I get an popup with an error which says: "An error has occured on the script on this page"
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
"Yes" or "No" (Buttons to Click)
I have to click the 'Yes' button about thirty times before the browser will finally close. Does anyone have any idea what this is?
I have a page with two divs on it, <div id="left"> and <div id="right"> . On my page, there are times when the right div is not displayed as there is no content in it, how can I get jquery to detect that div id="right" does not exist on a page so make the width of the left div to 1200px.
This is what ive found, but im not sure length is what I should be using to calculate if a div exists or not:
I am trying to get the JavaScript drop down menu from this site to work with the Internet Explorer browser:Simple JavaScript Drop Down Menu with timeout effect v2.0 Scripts and Tricks JavaScript DHTML TutorialsI can download the page to my computer, then open the page from the folder into which it wasdownloaded with the IE browser, and and it works fine.But however, if I: 1). rename the page or 2). copy and paste all of the Html code on the page and then paste it in to a new file and then try to open it in the IE browser I get this message:To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..
If you select a Training Event from the menu - "Submit This Record" will appear - click on it. Three alerts should come up - the first two showing data elements (normally not there but I needed to replace some code for this demonstration as the "real" page interacts with my live database), and the last saying "data submitted". In Safari, Firefox and Chrome these all work fine but in IE8 (Explorer) it gives an error on page error ...
If you click on the Volunteer Events radio button, an alert show ups that shows some more data elements (again normally not there), then select a Volunteer Event from the drop down list, make selections from any drop down lists that then appear after that until finally several other form items appear. You must enter a date, and at least one entry from the "Volunteer Activity Itemized Times" drop down menus before you click on "Submit This Record" - the same three alerts should come up - and like the Training Event, everything works except on IE8. (could be that this is also a problem in versions lower than IE8 but I don't have access to a machine that runs Windows (I am a MAC user).So if anyone out there is running IE8, I would appreciate if you could put this app thru it's paces and when you get the error - shed some light as to what is not right in the Explorer world that the rest of the world is OK with
I know this is not supposed to be that way, but somehow that's the only way it works for me. First I include
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="fadeslideshow.js"></script> where fadeslideshow.js is jQuery-based http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/fadeinslideshow.htm But I also want to use jQueryUI, so I have to include it:
I am using jquery to popupa calendar. I have done this on several pages with not problems this one page keeps claiming the error below. Message: Object doesn't support this property or method
var sortableTable = new Class({:thumbsup: getOptions: function(){ return {[code]....
It works flawlessly on my dev page: http:[url].....But I am having issues with is on my live page: http:[url].....My first thought is that it could be a labeling issue (ie: I forgot to remove "/dev" when moving the HTML over to live) but after reviewing for an hour, I don't believe this is the issue.
I am currently trying to display a gallery of images using Lightbox, and a contact form in a different modal window using a different script.
Here is the URL, so you can view the source. [URL]
Clicking 'contact' opens the Contact window, which currently works, and clicking the images SHOULD open lightbox but doesn't. If I shuffle the code around, I can get Lightbox to work but the contact window then breaks.
If someone could provide just the code I should replace mine with so I can just copy and paste it in, that would be great because I don't know anything about javascript and struggled to follow the instructions for this I found elsewhere.
I'm developing a website and I am using a slideshow done in jquery which works fine on all pages expect the gallery page.On the gallery page I am using Lightbox2 but as soon as I add the js files to this page the slideshow stop working and only shows one image.
I have a really cool floating menu script that I downloaded that creates a layer that moves when the screen scrolls. The script works perfecftly when the page is loaded on it's own.I'm now using a CMS application and trying to load this page in a wrapper. The way the CMS does this is to put the page into an iFrame on the CMS page. When it does this, the floating menu does not scroll with the window anymore. It simply drops down to the very bottom of the page.I believe this is because the script is getting the height parameter from the iFrame instead of the actual CMS document. I have tried altering the height objects in the script to use parent, top, parent.iframe...and many others. None seem to work properly. Here is the script: Code:
I am very new to javascript so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I made this page by pecing scripts together that I found online. I don't even know if this is the best way to get my desired results. I want the background to fill up the entire window, as well as the text and link to remain on the bottom in their respective corners and also re-size with the window. The code doesn't work the first time the page is loaded, but it works fine after it is refreshed. Do y'all have any suggestions on how to fix this.
i am using an image scroller and i have it on three pages, the pages use the same header, the same css and the same basic structure.such as
table content footer
the problem is that the scroller works fine on two of the pages but does not work at all on the one page.here is what i am getting on that page
Message: 'ElementExtensions' is null or not an object Line: 1898 Char: 3 Code: 0 URI: http://www.mysite.com/lightbox_slideshow/prototype.js
Message: Object doesn't support this property or method Line: 705 Char: 41 Code: 0 URI: http://www.mysite.com/lightbox_slideshow/lightbox.js
Message: Array length must be assigned a finite positive number Line: 464 Char: 5 Code: 0 URI: http:[url]....
the only common denominator i can see is that the page it does NOT work on is in fact a photo manager page, the other two (that DO work dont deal with photos)i checked the array and the js vars and stuff are different from my photo manager vars (php) so i was thinking maybe there might be a clash of some kind accessing the queries at the same time when the page loads but i dont get any errors other than these.by the way the scroller is black not grey like the others for background.does it sound like from the errors that i am getting that it might be a db query clash of some kind.
I have a Nivo slider that works fine on this page. Slideshow page. But it fails when I load it into this page using jQuery's .load function Project List (Click on any of the project links to load the content) Might it be a conflict between nivo slider and the jquery script that controls the open/close and loading the content? Here's that code: [URL]
I have a web page a lot of thumbnail images arranged in a table. I would like the user to be able to click on the thumbnail to open a window with a larger view of the image.
So I wrote a JS function to accept a URL as the argument and open a new pop-up window with the given parameters. I need this function to potentially run multiple times from multiple links (in this case images) on the same page. However, after the first time I click the link, the function runs, and I close the pop-up, the function will not run again if I click the same or another link on the page. If I refresh the page, the function will work once and then not again. Is there a buffer I need to clear or something to reset to allow multiple links to work?
I have tried the function call in a whole slew of ways. Here's my current code (I "..."'ed out the URLs for brevity):
I'm using an xmlhttp request to get information from a database. Everything works fine in Firefox, and it works in IE until you try to refresh the page. If a news post (thats what it is getting from the database) is deleted it will continue to show the same information. I can't really post all of the script because it (along with the html and php) are spread out through many different pages:
