Dynamically Changing Page Title And Meta Description?

I am using PHP & mySql to grab the title and description that I have stored in a table in the DB.
I am trying to dynamically change the <head> <title></title>, as well as <meta name="Description" content="" /> .
I used document.title to change the title. I see the title changing in the browser, but when I click on view source in the browser to see it int he code, the title is empty. How can I also see it in the code?
How do I change the description in the meta tag?

I'll try and keep this as short as possible (honest), scenario is this... I have a "price comparison" website which looks for deals via a php? query string url and returns the results as an Iframe inserted into a static "show" template page. Unfortunately that gives me 1000+ pages with duplicate title and meta descriptions...
What I'm trying to do is grab (server-side, from returned iframe content) a certain element of text (e.g. first (b)text to change/insert title and use the same text to insert in front of my description (i.e. description="grabbed text" blah blah blah
I know basic html and css etc and have started reading up on Jquery, but thats it... I'm not a programmer, so having asked question on a couple of forums and "googled" relevant topics, I've only got confusing info... most pointing towards Jquery, ajax etc. Thing is everyone goes "tech-speak" on me, might as well be martian...

I'm fairly new to jQuery and JavaScript. I've beat around the block a couple times modifying code from here and there, but never written anything myself. Just thought I'd warn you.I'm writing a tidbit of code that is going to be used for a photographer's website. The concept of the site is very simple; I am going to have Drupal generating two lists. The first list is simply photographs, semantically they just come one after another. The second is a list of div tags that contain a description of the photographs.The only way that the imagescorrelatecurrently is their semantic order. The first image should be matched with the first description, the second image with the second description, and so on. I do plan on changing this, but for the time being it is not my main concern.
Because the number of images added to the page might not necessarily be limited, I need to have jQuery pair up the images with the proper description, and then display it on hover—dynamically. My current method requires me to write out each hover functionindividually.This is a problem because, as I have mentioned, the amount of photos on any given page should not be limited.Currently I have the functionality that I want, with the exception of the dynamic creation of functions. How can I dynamically change the color of values on a page, to show if they are above or below a target value entered in a text box on the page. Those below should be shown in green, those above in red, and identical (equal) should be in amber. Values can be put in a particular tag and then use the getElementsByTagName.

I'm having fun changing items inside divs, spans, or anything else with a simple html() function: $("#somediv").html("text here"); But what about meta tags? I figured adding an ID to the title tag would work, but I was mistaken.
For example, I'm working on an online chat form. When someone receives a message, I'd like it to show in the title tag too, much like meebo. I've scoured the internet for this, but I've found nothing.

I've got a link that launches a little AJAX application in a window.
Like this:

Ideally, once this window is loaded, it will sit in the background and
wait for stuff to happen. I would like to then change the title bar to
denote changes. Simple enough, right?
Anyway, problem is: When the new window launches, its title is not
exactly what I assign it in "listener.php" (for instance, "Listener"),
but rather "http://155.55.55.55 - Listener" (or whatever). This means
that while sitting the taskbar, generally all the user is going to see
is a domain name and some dots, rather than what I want them to see.

I would like to dynamically set a tab title/name depending on the ajax content returned to the page when it loads, is there a way to do this? example

It can be done perhaps with reg expression, but I assume there is a simple jquery solution.

I have a page with 3 divisions overlaying each other. I dynamically
change the visibility to switch between them. On the Mac version of IE
5.1 I am not able to activate the scroll bars after making a division
visible. Only the originally displayed division works. I am able to
click on the data (option select lists) in all of the divisions. There
is no problem when I use Netscape.
I would like to dynamically change the z-index to see if that would
help. Can someone tell me how?

I have a piece of javascript I need to modify. Right now it changes a stylesheet in the document between style.css and no_indent.css. These
are in the head of my document:

What the code below does is toggle between the two depending on what link is clicked. Here are the links:
<a href=javascript:changeSheets(1)>Threaded</a>
<a href=javascript:changeSheets(2)>Flat</a>
What I want to do is have one link that will toggle between the two
stylesheets. So the page loads style.css initially. If the link is
clicked once it changes to no_indent.css. If it's clicked again it
changes back to style.css, and so on.
Can anyone let me know how to do this?

I'm opening a window with a SWF inside (no HTML, just the SWF) but in the
title bar appears something like

i'd like to write something like "Wow!! look thos flash!!!".
Could I do that from the function who launch it??? with something like this?

I'm having a problem dynamically changing the color of a table background.
I'm not sure exactly how to word this, but I'll give an example.
I have a function called greentored(propname)
i want to be able to change the following to a different color:
document.all.propname.style.visibility
but substitute the propname with the variable that I'm sending over.
Here is what I had written before but it did not work, it should be easy to
understand what i'm trying to do:

changecolor = "document.all." + propname + ".style.background";
changecolor = "green";
}
I understand why this doesn't work because all i'm doing is reasigning
"changecolor" to equal green, rather then setting the property of the first
instance of "changecolor" to green.

i'm new to jquery and am not real familiar with javascript. I have a color picker on my page that puts the hex value in an input box. I'm not familiar with jquery or javascript in general. I would like to be able to take the hex value and use it in updating a style of a div onkeyup or onchange...say the border color for example. Something like this...but this isn't working.

I am building a schedule web page and before I just had it use plain static HTML and CSS to control the styling. I wrote some javascript that goes through the table's rows, then cells (double for loop), and if the cells innerHTML == "" then the style class is changed. I do have some working code, however it only works in IE. Here's a copy of the script:

Instead of implenting a prefabricated calender on my site, I tried a different route. I built a simple form where the user picks time and date. Now, what I need to do is to secure a dynamic changing of the <select> tag carrying the values for days in the month, based on what information the user has put into the <select> tag carrying the values for the month. This should be logical, as it should not be possible to choose ie. the 31st of June, as there's no such date. I hope you understand what I need.

I have a drop down box on a site, and when an option is selected, I need the value of a text box to change.
My form has the following in it:

I have a flash header on my website with 5 menu items (home, register, about us, etc)
myheader.swf?button=1 "Home" is focused
myheader.swf?button=2 "register" is focused
etc etc
When you click on a menu item it becomes the focused menu item (or "button") and the flash fires off a javascript event which handles the AJAX.Using the browser's back/forward buttons, the flash header's focused item does not change.
I can capture the history change, but how can I change the " .swf?button=x " using javascript.
PS: the flash header is a big file and I do not want to reload it every single time to update the var

Problem is I can't get the fields to go away if the other radio button is marked (Variable hours). Solutions on what code my js needs to remove the fields when the opposite radio button is marked?

I have an image slideshow that works fine and, I may be being over ambitious but I'd like to combine the Play and Pause buttons so that when the slideshow is playing, the Play button is replaced by the Pause button and when it is paused the Pause button is replaced by the Play button.
Sounds like a simple JavaScipt change image function but both buttons have roll over effects and they both have different JavaScript functions assigned to them so I'm struggling to get my head around what I need to do.
