View 5 RepliesI have a page that submits to a db then re-loads its self with new information. Unfortunately it goes wrong when the user double clicks on a one of many text links that provides the info for the display on reload. How do I stop users from double clicking on the page? Ideally I think I would like to call some sort of js function from body onload as I presume this would then cover the whole of the page, but have no idea if this is possible or how to go about writing it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs it possible disable an onclick after clicking it and then enable it from another onclick by id
<img id="one" href="images/homepage/sliders/bonus_button.jpg" style="position:relative; top:30px; left:50px; height:30px; width:70px; float:left;">
This code runs when it is clicked:
$("#one").click(function() {
runEffectB();
return false;
});
What I would like to happen is for either runEffectB() to not run if it was just run or to disable the #one.click once it has run. I am assuming I will be able to re-enable it from another onclick running a similar function.
Is there any way to temporary disable any clicks? I've made a jquery code where you press a button and after 1,4 sec it will go to the next screen. But I don't want people to click on anything within those 1,4 sec.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi've searched this forum before posting but didn't find a "clean" solution to my problem.
I have an image with a link on it:
Code:
<a href="#null" onClick="addValue('bold');"><img src="images/myimage.gif" title="Some text" alt="Some text" /></a>
which adds the value in a textarea in the same page via this function:
Code:
function addValue( val ) {
var tb = document.forms['valuesform'].elements['valuesfield'];
if ( tb.value.length > 0 ) tb.value += " , ";
tb.value += val;
}
I need to disable the link after the image has been clicked,preventing multiple insertions of the same value. I've modified the link this way:
Code:
<a href="#null" onClick="addValue('bold'); this.onclick=null;" ><img ......
but while only one click is allowed,i get many JS errors in the JSConsole like
Code:
uncaught exception etc.... and i think this is not a good sign.=
I'm working on a small javascript application where I'd like to get one
behavior when a user clicks on an image (image swap), but when they
simply hold down the mouse button for a second, they get another
behavior (drop down menu).
The former seems pretty easy -- just assign the handler for the onClick
event to the swapping function. The latter, however, seems more
involved.... I know I'd assign the onMouseDown handler to a different
function, and then.... after a 1 second or so I'd want to test whether
or not the mouse buttom was still being held down. Except that I have no
idea how to do that (both the waiting part and the actual test itself).
The idea that does occur to me is to have some kind of data structure
associated with the clickable image. I could have functions associated
with the onMouseUp and onMouseDown handlers to set a flag.... as soon as
onMouseDown is called, it sets the flag to 0, then it waits 1 second,
and checks to see if the flag is 0. If onMouseUp has been called, it
will have set the flag to 1, and we call the plain old click handler. If
the flag is still 0, then I know to do the popup/drowpdown menu.
I'm a little worried about the timing between the different flows of
control, though, and I'm also wondering if there's not simply a better
way to do it.
I'd like to make it possible to move the background of a site by clicking and dragging it with the mouse. So far I've only found flash solutions and I'd really rather not use flashIf anyone knows of any jquery code that is somewhat similar
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has probably been covered before but I can't seem to find it. I
want to disable the user from using the right mouse button that brings

I want to temporaraly disable events from my page. However, I cant seem
to get it to work. It will show my disables message, but then it goes
ahead and does the action I was trying to do (like clicking on a link).
Here is the code, any ideas?
-----
function disableEvents()
{
document.onclick = showDisabledMessage;
}
function enableEvents()
{
document.onclick = null;
}
function showDisabledMessage()
{
alert("Please wait for the current action to complete.");
return false;
}
I have a website that contains a large div inside a smaller div, only to be scrolled via javascript. The problem is when you mouseover the smaller (container) div and you scroll the mousewheel down, everything scrolls down.

Here is the code:
I'm trying to enable/disable a textarea. I am able to do a mouseout disable, but cannot do a mouseover enable. For instance, when I click on the image, a textarea shows up. When I move my mouse to a different location, the textarea disables fine.Then when I try to move my mouse back over the textarea, it DOES NOT enable for me to write in it.I just happen to try out this code in IE and the textareas are not showing up where I click. I assume that I'm capturing the X/Y coordinates incorrectly for an IE browser.

I am not an expert in javascripting, so forgive me. What i am trying to do is disable embedded pdf documents from being scrolled up and down with the middle mousewheel button on the mouse.I am using embedded PDF files as a way to easily display reports through a browser (FireFox). The actual PDF is about 10 pages long, but the HTML page is coded with the embed tag and uses the Open Parameters to display just a few aspects of the PDF, in an easy to read format. The annoying part is that the embedded PDF sections can accidentally be scrolled with the mousewheel, which ruins the look of the report in the browser. Is there a way to disable this?
As you can see in the first div, i was trying to use javascript to disable the mouse wheel, which did not work. Since each div is a snapshot of the embedded pdf file, is there a javascript that can disable the mousewheel scroll for each section by placing it in the body tag?
I've searched though the forum and can't find an exact solution for disabling the right-hand mouse-click only on images (not text) on a webpage. I have some code that will do the job but I need some help with it. I realise that you can't stop people taking anything from webpages, so the aim of the following code is to provide an inoffensive way of reminding people that images have a copyright, and it leaves the right-hand mouse-click working for the rest of the page.
How do I change the following js code to run completely in an external js file? I already have the following code in an external file, but for this code to work each XHTML page has to have <body placed in it. I want to get rid of the bit because the XHTML files do not validate though the W3C validation system with it placed in the page. Code:
how to copy to clipboard all browsers without mouse click or mouse events.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith the following code I can change the mouse pointer. However, if you
click in Mozilla (with IE it works perfect) on 'Show hourglass' the mouse
pointer changes only if you move the mouse at least on pixel.
<html>
<body>
<script type = 'text/javascript'>
function show_hourglass() {
document.getElementById("my_href1").style.cursor = "wait";
document.getElementById("my_href2").style.cursor = "wait";
}
function show_hand() {
document.getElementById("my_href1").style.cursor = "default";
document.getElementById("my_href2").style.cursor = "default";
}
</script>
<a href = "javascript:show_hourglass();" id = "my_href1">Show
hourglass</a>
<br>
<a href = "javascript:show_hand();" id = "my_href2">Show hand</a>
</body>
</html>
Is there any workaround? E.g. to move the mouse one pixel by javascript?
Is there a trigger in JQuery that occurs when the user either:1 - clicks the left mouse button and moves the mouse upOR2 - clicks the left mouse button and moves the mouse down?mouseup() and mousedown() are only for clicking the button. I need a trigger that includes both the left mouse click and movement of the mouse up or down occurring simutaneously
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am finishing up my website, right now I am using Flexcroll for the scrollbar in my main content window. Problem is, I want people to be able to use the mouse wheel to scroll that content window regardless of the mouse position.

I was wondering if anyone knew a way I can keep the mouse wheel focus on that internal div so I can scroll up and down at all times.

I have done a little work on a simple script to change images on mouse over and on mouse off. It was meant to be a very simple one but it is not working and I am not quite sure why.
Here's the coplete html and script code:
And I have attached them too, they are very small files. Can't quite understand what I got wrong and when I hover on the images they don't change.
I have a site at: [URL] If you notice at the bottom, you'll see PREV :: NEXT navigation links. When you mouse over them, the mouse icon turns to a Cursor. Does anyone know how I can revert this back to a regular mouse "hand" icon for better usability purposes? The cursor is not intuitive, imho.
