Turn A Single Level Flyout Menu Into A Multi Level One?

Jan 7, 2009

I am trying to turn a single level flyout menu into a multi level one.

It uses a dt for the title, and a ul within the dd for the menu items. The dd opens to the right of the dt.

The problem is that the second level menu (a dl within an li within another dl) [URL] - flyout4 & subflyout5.

The z-index is increased each time. I just can't figure why the area is limited.

javascript, css & html follow -

Code JavaScript:

Convert 2 Characters - 2 Text Areas (input And Output) + "convert" Button

Aug 2, 2010

I would like to create a program which converts some letters into different ones.

1) I want 2 text areas (input and output) + "convert" button

2) if I type in the input area the letters "ea" I would like it to be converted into "a", so that If I type "cambrea" and press "submit" the output text will have "cambra".

3) if I type "e " which is (e+space) I want it to be converted into " " which is "space" example: if I type the word "spine " it should be converted into "spin , note that there is a space after "spin ".

4) If I type any vowel before "o" it should render "o", example: gambuo becomes gambo.
would this be possible? I'm not very familiar with Javascript even though I can modify it.

Trap A Click At The Div Level?

Jan 3, 2010

At certain times I need to prevent the user from clicking on elements in a div. I've tried giving the div an onclick that simply returns false, but the clicks still get through. In the simplified code below, the onclick is hardwired, but in real life it would be assigned dynamically. In this example, when I click the link to Google, I get the "yo" alert, but the Google page still loads. If it were just one link, I could disable it directly. But I'll be dealing with pages with lots of links on them. How do I do this??

Force A Document To Load At The Top Level

May 26, 2006

I've got a document that I want to ensure always get loaded into the
top level document and not into a frame or iframe. I've got it figured
out how to detect if the document is loaded into a frame. But what I
want to happen is the HTML content in the iframe to be displayed in the
top level document w/o a return trip to the server.

Here's what I'm thinking:

function forceTopLevelDocument() {
if (top != self) {
//load the HTML from child document into parent document
//without a return trip back to the server
}
}

What I can't figure out is how to take the document loaded into a child
frame and push it's contents up into a parent frame.

3 Level Dynamic MySQL Dropdown

Apr 12, 2010

I'm trying to make 3 drop downs (based off of mysql tables), to narrow down the selection. Source, School, and Program. So when when they select SOURCE(source), all the SCHOOLs in drop2 will be based on the SOURCE selected in the previous dropdown, and whatever school(cid) is selected, the program will be based off that school(cid) and display all the programs for that school. I've google'd high and low for something, and no avail. Here is what I have, I am just trying to make 3 drop downs narrow in, without pressing submit (I am new to ajax and javascript etc) The issue may be in that java part, I've look in the php and mysql, but nothing.

PHP Code:
<table width="517" border="1"> <tr>
<td width="87">Source:</td> <td width="414">
<? echo'<select name="source" onChange="showUser(this.value)">
<option value="">--Select--</option><?php while() { } ?>'; .....

My javascript
Code:
var xmlhttp;
function showUser(str){
xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject();
if (xmlhttp==null){
alert ("Browser does not support HTTP Request");
return;
} .....

Right now, the results display in a table, I don't want that - I need them to display as results in the next dropdown.

2 Level Interdependent Select List

I am working on creating a 2 Level Interdependent Select List and I am using javascriptkit.com's code they provided.

HTML Code:

Which is working to they way they said it would. I am trying to make a modification to it to which I have on idea where to start as i know very little javascript.

Basically what I want to do is delete the <option selected>Select A City</option> from the first select field and make it where when you first see the field it displays the USA option.

Since the USA option will be the on that is showing when you enter the page I don't want second select field to be blank but instead show the cities of the USA. Then if they choose to select on Canada it would delete the USA cities and just show the canadian cities like it is already doing.

How To Create A Site-Level Search Applet???

Jul 20, 2005

Can anyone point me to a good tutorial for creating a site-level
search applet? I am trying to create a virtual catalog of sorts, and
I would like to be able to search the catalog and have the results
displayed on the same page with one column text and an image of the
product. I've seen several tutorials that create site-level searches
that will bring back a search results page with options to choose
from. I am looking to create a search that does not bring back this
"results" page, but displays an image of the product instead. Given
the nature of the products, search results will only bring back one
specific item, and so, I would like to skip the "results" page
altogether. Any thoughts?
