View 1 RepliesI am trying to get a simple set of Javascript tabs to work properly. I have just two tabs and I want to set up the script to have the second tab automatically hidden prior to reading the javascript code because right now it shows the contents of both tabs when the page is loading and then the second tab disappears after all the script has loaded.
I have the jquery script linked to on the page and here is the way my script looks to run the tabs:
Code:
I want to add something like style="visibility:hidden;" to the DIV that isn't shown on page load and have it added and removed as necessary when users click on the tabs. So basically I would like the generated code to look like this:

how I can run / test code on windows? I also want to download the library.

Is this some "standard" code that every Web page should have. Does it
control the opening of new windows when a user clicks on a newsgroup

I have a music site, and on one page surfers can click on song titles and it opens up a pop-up window containing the lyrics (I would direct you to it but it is currently down due to domain name troubles).When you click onto the main window again, the pop-up then relegates to the back - if you click on the same link again, you get nothing, unless you closed the pop-up first.How can I modify my javascript so clicking on the pop-up link will bring an already open window to the front?Here is the popup code currently:
Code:
<a href="javascript:void(window.open('rpages/poar/dragofsloth.html','The Drag of Sloth','resizable=1,width=585,height=420,top=60,left=60'))">1. The Drag of Sloth</a>

I have a parent window that pushes a new window object onto an Array
with the following code :
OpenChild()
{
//totalNumWindowsCreated is global
totalNumWindowsCreated = totalNumWindowsCreated + 1;
childWnds.push(window.open(link, "child" +
totalNumWindowsCreated,"dependent"));
..
..
..
}
This pops up a new window with every call. In the child window I call
a parent function onbeforeunload, appClose() :
function appClose(){
if (window.opener && !window.opener.closed){
window.opener.CloseChild(getQueryString("application"));
}}
This is in my frameset tag of the child code :
<frameset ... onbeforeUnload='appClose()'>
The window.opener.CloseChild() function is called perfectly when I have
one child window open, but as soon as I create another child window
both of the open child windows don't ever call it. They do both go
into the onbeforeunload appClose() function, but do not call the
window.opener.CloseChild() function inside of this routine.
Anyone have any ideas why when I have two child windows open I can't
access the window.opener functions?
I have tried taking each new window out of the array and used the
following code in CloseChild() :
CloseChild()
{
//win and totalNumWindowsCreated are both global
totalNumWindowsCreated = totalNumWindowsCreated + 1;
var win = window.open(link, "child" +
totalNumWindowsCreated,"dependent");
..
..
..
}
I am trying to set up a web site for an art gallery.That is for new talents so I have no budget.I am not a web designer and I am facing some barriers.My problem is, I guess, about going around with the DOM node tree. My page looks like this:[code]How it works:In first place, after page has been loaded,I am using frame 4 to run a HTML form. After submit,iframe 3.1 is populated with thumbnails according to the query.When a thumbnail is clicked,I succeeded in bringing the corresponding text, talking about the artwork, on iframe 5.1 to do so, I change the html source in iframe 5.1.I am using for that: [code] The idea was about doing the same with the frame 4 that is for a larger picture of the artwork.But first I need to get rid of the form once it was submitted (bring a new HTML with a dummy transparent gif to be swapped with the desired picture).But how can I bring a new html in frame 4? After the form is submitted the 'action' moves to iframe 3.1.I tried changing the html source using getElementById but I could not find a way to get to the right object.Two src attibutes must be changed with code written in iframe 3.1. (where the thumbnails are clicked). But How can I address and change the HTML src code in FRAME 4 ? How can I address and change the src image in the new code loaded in FRAME 4 ?I have both attributes in variables but don't know how to get to the target elements

I've kind of skimmed over how drop down menus work in JS(notably jquery).Also I read you put the submenu nested within it's parent link(<li>).This proves to be a problem though because my <div id="nav"> I have, is setup to display inline (horizontal) and obviously with a drop down you want that vertical..Do I have to separate the submenu from the <div id="nav">, or does the submenu have to be nested?

Now, The only thing is some of the non-required fields are filled in and some people don't fill them in, so when I import it into excel, the fields move about. What I need to know, is there a condition I can set to have a value written into all the empty fields when it is submitted?
Here is where I am with that so far:

Is it somehow possible to setup a backend server to send a message to a client? Or it is a client always have to establish a connection? What I'm trying to code is a simple chat script that sends a message to the client once a member of the chatroom has logged out. The only way that I can make this work is if the client either sends a message (which is a POST call) or when a time delay occurs (I've set a timer to run every 30s after the last GET or POST call). But both of these are basically CLIENT -> SERVER calls. I don't assume that the other way (SERVER -> CLIENT) is possible? no?

Cannot get jQuery to work (unless I access [url])
Is this permissible, or do I have to download jquery.js to my server? If not, I have other questions:
- My hosting service does doesn't have gzip compression enabled --what file do I need to install on my server if I don't have GZIP available?
- How can I extract that file (jquery.js?) from jquery-1.3.2.js.txt? (looked for GZipper, but from what I can see that's Mac s/w and I'm running windows)
