View 9 RepliesHow can I assign a link with its related elements (as following) to an array element?
Assume having a table with several rows and 3 columns. The first column holding some text information (which will be read from a database) but the 2nd column holding a link (as its previous rows - now I'm adding a new row).
Since I'm adding records or rows to this table I need to provide the link in the 2nd column and the worst thing thing, this is my first PHP project!
Any advice?
<span id="button_<?=$item?>_edit"><a href="javascript:edit('<?=
$item?>', 1, '<?=$max?>');
javascript:MyFunc(document.getElementById('iptext_ <?=$item?>'));"
If I assign an array to another variable, any changes to the array change both variables. Is it a pointer instead of a copy? Try this:
<script type="text/javascript">
Arr=['a','b','c'];
Arr2=Arr;
[code]....
Variables don't do this but it's happening for arrays in IE and FireFox, maybe all others.
I'm having problems with selecting values from array.I have a dropdown box where you choose what fruit you want to buy.When selected the array should assign 2 values to that fruit.Here's what I have.. I added comments.
Javascript part:
<script type="text/javascript">
function Fruits() {
var selectfruit = newArray( //assigning values to fruit selected from dropdown box
newArray("Banana", 1, 1),

Looking for a little bit of help. I created a simple script a while back in PHP which reads all the images from a directory and assigns them to an array (reading for loading into a document). Would I be able to do this in JavaScript or does it not have these kind of privileges?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was working on this problem that asks me to return an array of scores for each string (only for its content part, not URL) in the global variable, which is an array. For example, alert a score of 0 if the string z is not found, 1 if found once, and 2 for twice. My problem is that I can get the code to alert if it has found the word (ex. "the"), but I cannot manage to :
a) Assign separate scores for each string.
b) Make the search case insensitive i.e. "the" will appear in 0,1, but not in 2, where it is capitalized

var c = ["[www.facebook.com] Facebook is the best social networking site to coccent with your friends. ", "[www.google.co.uk] Google is the worldwide search engine. ", "[www.bbc.co.uk] The best news source for starting your day. "];

Is it possible to break apart a string into characters, be it a word or a sentence, and store each individual character in an array?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm curious if there is a possibility of being able to search the whole document for a specific string using replace("that", "this") for example to find any reference to "this" and replace it with "that" and then show the modified content.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhat am I doing wrong I want to add an Array to a string, but the alert won't write the array?
Code JavaScript:
var placestosee = ['newyork','people','laundry','stores'];
alert('One place to see is the'+'placestosee[2]'+);
I get strings in this format:
([{"result":"-1","message":"Error","target":""},{"result":"-2","message":"Access Denied","target":""}])
this string will evaluate to a 2D array if I do this:var array = eval(string);But eval is not very safe.Is there a way to achieve the same effect (turn that string into 2d array) without using eval function?And I have no control over what string I am given, so will have to process this kind of a string =Right now I am thinking of writing a custom function which will split the string and then split again etc, but is there already something that can do this job?
I have interesting question about javascript. I'm no expert but I do understand coding for few languages and html. Let me give an example:
Illinois="";
Alabama="";
besttest[1]="Illinois";
strOut+='
<select>
<option value=illinois' +Illinois+ '>Illinois</option>
<option value=illinois' +Alabama+ '>Alabama</option>
</select>';
Would it be possible to make besttest[1] arrays value an actual variable name and assign it string value "selected"? I have "for" loop that returns the selected state and I need to somehow pass that variable name (which has value "selected") to option tag. And that variable name is the actual value of array.
I have:
<div class="date">21-Mar-11</div>
I would like to select only the 21 and then only the "Mar" and replace the content of the div with "Mar 21," or something along those lines. The output is not the problem. I need selecting specific parts of the string. So I want to learn more about selecting specific parts of strings.
I'm trying to grab a specific part of a string of text and am wondering how to do it (or if it is possible to do it) with a jQuery selector.Is there any way to get that specific part of the link?

The reason I ask, is I have a barcode scanner and I want to be able to trigger a submit button next to the matching product on scanning the barcode. So basically, the user can open the page (and may have clicked on some elements already) then scan a product which will input a 13 digit number and the submit button with that matching id will be clicked/submitted. This is easy enough to do if I use a text input, but I a) don't want the user to have to click in the text box first. b) don't want the user to have to delete the text box to scan the next product.
Perhaps it can be done somehow with a hidden field that automatically resets on each scan?!?
The scanner works just like a keyboard as I have used it to filter products with keyup() in a text field...so it does actually activate keyup(). So it should have exactly the same affect if you type the numbers manually.
I have some long html text like this:

I have a script that is supposed to: Make sure that the user selects a performance from a select field Make sure that the user hasn't selected a performance that contains the string "SOLD OUT" in its value Here is the code I am using:

alert($('#paypal-purchase-date').val());
if($('#paypal-purchase-date').val() == 'Select Performance Date') {

I need to progrmatically do this inside a loop
this.fh03.value = fixFloat (Harms[1], numPoints) ;
with the numbers changing per an index.
If I try
curHvals = "03" ; // (derived from index to provide leading zero)
( "this.fh" +curHvals + ".value" ) = fixFloat(Harms[ii],numPoints)
I get a [ Cannot assign string to 'string "this.fh03.value" ' error. ]
The right side of the equation works just fine elsewhere.
As does this.fh03.value elsewhere.
eval (...) does not work as it looks up the previous fh03 value rather
than replacing it with a new one.
What is the correct way to programatically loop calculated values with
fancy names?
Is there a command for string to named variable conversion?
I'm having problems selecting a specific index of an element in an array.
Here's the HTML code : (assuming there are 10 of them)

So the output that I should be expecting is that in an array of div's containing "share-plus-container" and its children, upon hovering the "Share [+]" link, it should display the "share-plus-box" div of that specific link.
have an array of objects which is gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray which has 2 properties (UserID & UserInfo).
For example:
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[0].UserID = 111;
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[0].UserInfo = "AAA-123";
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[1].UserID = 222;
gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray[1].UserInfo = "BBB-333";
What is the fastest way to check whether a specific UserID exists in the array using Jquery or Javascript because gAllMedicalFilesClaimantsArray has got 8000 records?

Well after much trial and error I come asking for help. I am trying to write a greasemonkey script that scans a page for all the values between certain <td> tags. When I used firebug it shows what I am looking for as <td class="username">THEUSERNAME</td> but when I view the source it just shows up as <td>THEUSERNAME</td> I want to create an array of the 100 <td>'s on the page that pertain to usernames but none of the other <td>'s
I created a test page that mimicked the code, what I thought origionally, to be so I could test my script with ease. And it worked when there was an actually <td class="username">
