Parse HTML To Create Array From Specific Td Tags?

Jun 13, 2011

Well after much trial and error I come asking for help. I am trying to write a greasemonkey script that scans a page for all the values between certain <td> tags. When I used firebug it shows what I am looking for as <td class="username">THEUSERNAME</td> but when I view the source it just shows up as <td>THEUSERNAME</td> I want to create an array of the 100 <td>'s on the page that pertain to usernames but none of the other <td>'s

I created a test page that mimicked the code, what I thought origionally, to be so I could test my script with ease. And it worked when there was an actually <td class="username">

This is what I have so far:

// ==UserScript==
//
//Displayable Name of your script
// @name EXAMPLE

[Code].....

RegEx - Removing Specific Html Tags

May 16, 2006

I need some help creating some regular expressions that remove specific html tags...the script/expression will run when a button is clicked (i.e. "Remove Bold" button will remove <b> </b>).

currently I have these expressions working but they do not accomplish what exactly what I am after...Actually the functionality I'm looking for will incorperate both, however I can't seem to get it to work properly...

data.replace(/<[^>]+>/ig,"")+""); - this removes all tags (no matter what kind), I would like it to be a little less "greedy" and only remove specific tags.
i.e:
Input = <u><b>THIS IS SOME DATA</b></u>
Output= THIS IS SOME DATA

data.replace(/<(B|b)[^>]*>[^<]*(</B>|</b>)/ig,"")+""); - this removes bold tags and will leave other tags like <u> behind, exactly what I was looking for. However, it also removes the content/data that is wrapped in the tag.
i.e:
Input = <u><b>THIS IS SOME DATA</b></u>
Output= <u></u>

In the above example what I would like to happen is:
Input = <b><u>THIS IS SOME DATA</u></b>
Output= <u>THIS IS SOME DATA</u>

Any suggestions?

Adding Text To Textarea - Create An Additional Button That Will Insert Some Text - Certain Html Tags

Mar 10, 2010

I am creating a small CMS module for a client. I created a little form and when they click Submit, it goes straight out into an include (.inc) file, which is connected to the web page to be displayed.

The trouble I am having is that I'd like to create an additional button that will insert some text (certain html tags to make their life easier, etc) - I got it to work, actually. The script executes and the text is inserted - but once the script runs and the page refreshes (or whatever it does), the text then disappears. The only way I can seem to get it to stay put is when I use "onmouseup" instead of "onclick" - which means that every time the user accidentally mouses over the thing, it inserts the text.

Create JS Array From Dynamic HTML Form Fields?

Apr 26, 2011

From the these form fields I want to be able to create an array in Javascript containing the same 'codes' that feature between the option tags (not the value="X")

<select name="options-1" id="options-1">
<option value="">Select an option</option>
<option value="1">KA-WH</option>
<option value="2">KA-BK</option>
<option value="3">KA-GN</option>

[Code]...

for example, from the above, I want a JS array for 'option-1' that contains KA-WH, KA-BK and KA-GN; plus an array for 'option-2' that contains BADGE-1, BADGE-2 and BADGE-3. The above form fields will be created dynamically, may contain more or fewer items.

I then want to use the JS arrays to pull in images of which filenames match the 'code' in the array.

Create An Associative Array From Within The Loop That Sets Up My Html Table?

Jan 27, 2009

I'm trying to create an associative array in javascript from within the loop that sets up my html table. I can't get my head around assigning the associative key-value pair (probably not the best way of putting it). I've written the below in php. What's the equivalent in javascript? The => is the part that's baffling me.

PHP Code:

$test_array[] = array ([INDENT]'seller_id'=>$seller_details[$column]['seller_id'],
'products_id' => $item_details[$idval]['products_id'],
'shipping_price' =>$item_details[$idval]['shipping_price'])[/INDENT]

JQuery :: Injecting Tags To Specific Location?

Jul 17, 2009

My CMS won't let me customize their HTML structure they didn't give me access to their templating system. But they'd let me access their Head section were I could add custom Javascript and CSS. Example this would be their template structure:

<body>
<div id="wrapper">
<div id="maincontent"> Maincontent </div>
<div id="left"> Left Contents </div>

[Code].....

The reason why the injections was structured like that is, I want the regular divs to be rounded. the Inject1, Inject2, Inject3 would be style in my external CSS. I think it would also be great if it was like a class that i can just be apply it to specific ids or class.

JQuery :: Parse A JSON Response Array?

Feb 26, 2011

How can I adequately parse a JSON response I'm getting from the server, which happens to be an array?

The array I'm getting back is actually this one:

[{"photo":{"created_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:00Z","id":5,"name":"Natalie_Portman.jpg","updated_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:00Z"}},{"photo":{"created_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:14Z","id":6,"name":"scarlett-johansson-.jpg","updated_at":"2011-02-26T18:40:14Z"}}]

I believe this one is valid JSON, but my attempts to parse it are always failing when I do it like this:

success:
function(data, textStatus, xhr)
{
var photos = jQuery.parseJSON(data);
alert(photos);
},

The above code displays 'null', and the documentation says a null occurs when the JSON isn't valid. so, what's going on ?

I need to know the codes to parse as well as access the values in the parsed response.

Read Text File - Parse - Split - Put In Array

Oct 22, 2009

I am very new to javascript and programming and I need a little direction. I have working a javascript that reads the value of radio buttons and writes them to a text file. My code is at [URL]. The text file has the following format:

Name|Email|Location|Comment|5|5|5|3|2|1|4|5|3|2|0
Name2|Email2|Location2|Comment2|1|3|0|3|2|0|2|5|1|2|3

What I need to do is have javascript read the text file (c: estfile.txt) and put each section of information (name, comments, numbers, etc.) into an array. Then, add the number from each columns up. For example, the first number from Name and the first number from Name1 is 5 +1 = 6. This sum is then added to another array that can be printed on the screen. I know this is a lot of information.

Parse Xml Using JS Into Html Table?

May 3, 2011

New to this, worked through the w3c tutorials and am really fascinated by some of the concepts. I'm only familiar with html, css, js (basics), so am trying to keep things as simple as I can for this.

For simplicity I'll use books.xml with a listing of books. Each book has a <title><author><year><price> and <image> element. The images are stored in a folder called "images" a path is listed in the xml document.

Using js and an array I can loop through the xml file and have it extract each node into a table, if I mouseOver a ROW in the table, it displays that listing in a DIV above and I would like it to display the image/thumbnail for that particular listing within another div called thumbnail which is in the same location regardless of which listing you mouseOver.

if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
{// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
}

[Code]....

So the way this looks is there's a grey div. At the top it says listing, and when the body loads it lists the [0] first entry from the array. To the right of this is a small div called thumbnail that is empty and I would like it to load the relevant image from the path in the <image> tag in the xml file.

Below the listing is a table with 4 columns (title, genre, price, image) and an equal number of rows to the number of listings in the xml file. Under the "image" column it just shows the path to the image.

So how do I tie the empty thumbnail div to the listing so it'll just add the path from the xml <image> tag into a <img src="pathnamefromxmldocument">

Parse (x)HTML Content From XML (AJAX And DOM)

Dec 20, 2006

I have a script that reads the contents of an XML file. The contents of one of the tags of the XML file contains XHTML(made up of <p> and <a> tags). The code I have to output the content of the XML is as follows:

xmlRoot = xmlResponse.documentElement;

var wrapper = document.getElementById("myDiv");
var bodyText = xmlRoot.getElementsByTagName("bodyText");

for(var i=0; i<bodyText.length; i++)
{
var para = document.createElement("p");
var bodyContent = document.createTextNode(bodyText[i].firstChild.data);

para.appendChild(bodyContent);
wrapper.appendChild(para);
...
}

Now, when I view the page in my browser, I get paragraphs that actually display the HTML code. Is there a way to parse this HTML so that it actually appears with all the links etc, as opposed to just showing the code?

JQuery :: Parse HTML Without Retrieving External Resources?

Jul 30, 2010

I am putting together a site that uses screen scraping to extract results from a number of search engines. The HTML is downloading fine and I am able to extract search engines results relatively easily using the JQuery .find() function.

My problem is that when the HTML is parsed the browser is firing requests for external resources (i.e. image & video files) that are referenced within the parsed HTML. These resources are not required by my site (I only extract the text results and don't want to display images) and just waste the user's bandwidth.

Is it possible to parse the HTML without evaluating embedded resources?

From using Fiddler and Firebug I have determined that the requests are being made during execution of this function [code]...
