Background Image Fade Random?

The whole thing started when we decided it would be neat if the web page looked slightly different everytime you visited.The functionality I'm looking for will fade the CSS associated to the html body tag. The tiled background image in particular. I have over 50 seamless tile background images of various dimensions stored in my default image folder. I'm hoping to find some script that will select and display one of the images at random and then fade to a new one every 10 or 20 seconds.It might work if I had some script that replaced the background attribute of the body tag with an animation.. selecting from an array of image paths?

This is a really awesome script that I'm sure all of you can put to use if you haven't yet heard of it. However, I'm trying to get it to fade a background image on my css styled navigation for my a:hover. Here is the script with a little simple tutorial on how to set it up: [URL] My only other knowledge is in PHP, so after about 2 hours of fail in this client-side language

I'm trying to use jQuery to produce something similar to this flash example [url]although I'd like the effect to be somewhat more controlled.
In a nutshell, what I'm trying to achieve is a 3 x 4 grid of (12) images which appears to load in a random order and then 1 by 1 (again in random order) fade out to be replaced by another image. I'd like the effect to be quite subtle, smooth and calming with the timing between image fades to be fairly even.
All images would be pulled from a folder on my webserver. I don't want the same image to be visible more than once at any time, although I don't mind repeating images as long as they're not already in the grid - hopefully that makes sense?
Ideally I'd like only one image to be changing at any given time with a pause before the next image starts to fade into new image.
The way I've been trying to tackle this so far is to use 12 different instances of a jquery image fade laid out in a CSS grid.
There are a few problems with my approach so far;
Doesn't appear random
Timing - multiple squares change at same time. (I only want one image to change at a time)
Same image often repeated at same time within grid
Its not long before a pattern emerges and you can tell which image will change next.
I'm sure this must be possibly, but my math or scripting skills aren't quite there yet.

I have 3 thumbs, and when I click on one of the thumb, the background of my site has to fade to the same image as the thumb. This code is working for me, but it is fading to white first, and after it fades to the new background.

I'm making a landing page and wanted to fade a css background image (actually 2 of that part of my divs)

I couldn't find an exact example or of a way to do this. I've been struggling on this for hours. All I'm trying to do is fade in those divs after a certain time has passed (like 5secs after the page loads)

I trying to get the image in the masthead to cycle through a small number of images. The image is the background-image of the div 'masthead'.
It works in Firefox but I'm getting an error in IE. The error is 'invalid argument' and refers to the j increment. I can't see the prob.
Also the slideshow is a bit abrupt and I need to make the images fade into each other. My old method and examples I've seen on the web don't seem to work. Does anyone know how to do it? Code:

How to get background images to rotate with a fade in a header without using an image in div in the body. A combination of javascript and CSS -- not sure if this is the correct forum or not? I can achieve an image changing/rotating in a div using the code just below. But I have to refresh the page for the image to change.

So what I really would like to do is have the image rotate through the div and not have to have the img tag present. I haven't even tackled the fade but have some thoughts about this. Since it's the header div I want to do the fading not the img tag, I'm thinking the way to make the fade work will be the same.

im having a dumbass problem its probably something stupid as it always is with me. Basically ive incorporated a javascript random image background. It works however it occasionally displays a WHITE bg, as if its trying to link to one of the images in the array and its not there. I'm trying to use jQuery to load a random background image in a header in Wordpress. I can't get it to work at all. Is there something wrong with my code?

I'm currently working on a site that requires a background image inside of a div tag, that upon refreshing of the page the image changes.Originally I had this working fine, as a bg image for the body. The problem is that the body now has a bg color, and all content rests inside of a container. Inside of the container is two main divs; one for content, the other for a drop shadow. The problem, is that the div that contains the header information, is not displaying a background image. I have a feeling that the bg colors of the body, content, and shadow are over riding the header. I'm using a jquery script to have a background image slideshow, but I can't make the images to shuffle. I need to do this, as on every click on the website, page reloads, and the background slideshow starts again on the first picture. I would prefer a random pic start.
The script so far is doing the job on covering the whole browser screen, fade on transition, and user controls (back, play / pause, next), wich I need to keep.

I'm trying to use Javascript to have an array of images that load randomly AND work in a slideshow manner so change every 3 seconds (in a logical order). The code I have below presents a random image but how do I get them to continue from the random image and change to the next every 3 seconds?
