Assign Value From Window Back To Main Page Without Reloading?
Jun 26, 2009
At main page, I want to have a js hyperlink onclick='select products()' This Onclick will open up a new small window, list down all products, once ppl select the products and close it, the selected product(s) will directly appear inside div of the main page.
Criteria:Refresh the value into parent page div Without reloading the parent window.Ability to assign back product id and name from small window to parent window.I'm not sure how to do that.Btw, I am using jquery. If anyone know how to implement this via jquery, it will be great.

I am in a bit of a rut in the self-teaching with JS. I am trying to get links to change the external js file currently on the main page without reloading, the external files are basically long document.write sections with a few interactive functions.
The closest I have found for help with this so far is a rotating script, but I want a manual change from a link (button, image, etc) instead of timeOut rotation. I am not sure what I need to do for the links to replace the timeout function to change the dynamic section.

I want users to work from a main application. Certain things will need to be done but the users wont want to see the main screen go away while doing these certain things. So my idea is to just open a new window with the content they need, they'll make their changes, the new window will close but then I want the main page to reload.What I've done now is at the end of the script that will be run prior to the new window closing is added this (its a php app):
echo "<script>window.close();</script>";
echo "<script>window.opener.location.reload(true);</script>";
Sometimes this works in IE and Firefox but never in Chrome. I know I've seen this done before on other sites, but I cant think of what they are.

I need some help with a javascript - after doing a "openPopWin", how do I get a link to go back to the main window?
Not actually a "close", lets say a link back to a registration page.

I'm using 2 <script src="script file name here"> tags.
When I make a change to a script in the file in the 1st script tag, I have to turn the browser off and then back on to see the change-reloading the page isn't enough.
How can I make it so I see the changes by reloading the page and not turning the browser off and back on?

I've hit a little bit of a road block developing this site: [URL]. I'm attempting to use the thumbnails to load a new video in the main object. I've used this:
$(document).ready(function(){
$('.thumbnail').bind('click', function() {
new_video = $(this).attr('href');
$('.main_video').attr('src', new_video);
$('.main_video').siblings('param').attr('value', new_video);
return false;
});
});
To replace the attributes in the object, but at this point, the source has the new arguments, but it needs to reload as the actual element still contains the old video. Should I somehow use AJAX to refresh this div? Should I reconstruct my jQuery somehow?

Can somebody tell me how I can make a popup window appear behind the main browser window by modifying the script below to do this? I would like it so the popup will load but they won't see it until they close the main window.
Code:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
<!-- Begin
var popupWin
function openWindow() {
popupWin = window.open("http://www.domain.com", 'win', 'menubar=yes,status=no,toolbars=no,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,width=800,height=600')
}
// End -->
</script>

I'm having an issue with the difference in behavior between the IE and FF back buttons. I'm using jQuery to create collapsable div regions which contain text boxes on a search form. After submit, if the use clicks the back button in FF, the region(s) the user had previously expanded, show as expanded. Also, there search term is still present. In IE, when clicking the back button, all regions are collapsed, in there original loaded state, but the search term is still saved. I put the following code at the top of the page:
onload=function(){
alert('Onload!');
}
When clicking the back button in FF, nothing happens. For IE, the alert pops up. This tells me that IE reloads the page (but somehow still saves some things, like the search text). My question is, is there a way to keep IE from reloading when the use clicks 'back'? I will be creating my own 'edit' back button for users to get around this, but I also would like to prevent this from confusing users and causing undesired results.

I'm building a rich editor to replace a textarea, and am about to
release it as "live." But there's one last thing I want to do with it.
When using a textarea, if the visitor clicks on "back" then the
information is (usually) still there. But with the contenteditable
field, it's gone.
I read on a web page a few days ago that there was an easy solution to
this, but I didn't save the information and didn't save the page. Any
ideas?

I cannot figure out how to return the array back to the main method!
import java.util.*;
//lab 3
public class Prices{
public static void main(String[] args){
double []array;
array = new double[10];
double fullPrice;
fullPrice = fillPrices(array);
System.out.println("testing");
}public static double fillPrices(double []tenValues){
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
double prices;
System.out.println("Please enter 10 prices: ");
for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
tenValues[i] = input.nextDouble();
return tenValues;
}}
I thought you return an array by simply return (array name);

Is that possible I can assign an window object variable to an already opened
window? With window.open(), we can get a window object from opened window.
If a window has already opened, is there any way I can attach that window
with an object variable in javascript? Because I want to communicate with
that window.

[Code]....
So, currently this code opens up [URL] in a new window, then it opens [URL] in a new window and then [URL] in a new window. I do not want it to behave like this. I want all the websites to be open in the same window one after the other.

I have a popup window that comes up when a user doesn't have access to a certain page within my site. The problem is when a user clicks on something the popup window comes up but the bigger sized window of that popup comes up in the background as well. I am trying to have my popup window come up while the original page I clicked from is still focused/seen in the background. This is the code I currently am using, can anyone help me with what I am missing. I have a back button but I won't need that if I want to maintain the original page in the background. Instead I will use a close button.
Code:

The back button will be on a small top frame and the page that needs to be controlled will be in the main frame.
The top frame is just a navigation system, and all pages will be loaded in the main frame.
Im trying to use this Code:
<FORM>
<INPUT TYPE="button"
NAME="back"
VALUE="BACK"
onClick="history.go(-1)">
</FORM>
Does anyone know how I could accoplish the desired result using this code, or any other code? And what about a foreward button?

Here is the url:The issue, as you will see, is initially when my front page loads the "menu" animates into place. Then after a button is clicked:
$(".home_button").click(function() {
$('#content_menu').stop().fadeOut(1000,function() {
window.location = "http://jquery.com/";
[code]...
That all works fine. The issue is when I use the back button on the browser to return to the home page the animation never triggers and the page remains unusable until a refresh. How can I have this page refresh when the user uses the back button and/or is there a better way to do what I'm asking?
