How To Return Arrays Back To Main Method
Sep 29, 2011
I cannot figure out how to return the array back to the main method!
import java.util.*;
//lab 3
public class Prices{
public static void main(String[] args){
double []array;
array = new double[10];
double fullPrice;
fullPrice = fillPrices(array);
System.out.println("testing");
}public static double fillPrices(double []tenValues){
Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in);
double prices;
System.out.println("Please enter 10 prices: ");
for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
tenValues[i] = input.nextDouble();
return tenValues;
}}
I thought you return an array by simply return (array name);

I am really hoping someone is willing to take the time to read this post and take a minute to take a look at my code. What is happening is there are some matches for a script I made and then an area for segments during an event. If you notice on the segment part of the form is that there is a dropdown that asks for where in the event that segment needs to go. With the Introduction or the different numbered matches. What I need to happen for a subArray I need it to take the introduction, all the matches, and all the segments and order them accordingly. With the introduction first, the matches in order based off there match number and then the segments in between the introduction or matches based off the user's input.

I need some help with a javascript - after doing a "openPopWin", how do I get a link to go back to the main window?
Not actually a "close", lets say a link back to a registration page.

I'm trying to figure out how to close a popup window automatically when the viewer returns to the main window.
I'm presenting a series of composite pages from a drop down menu and right now all I've succeeding in doing is bringing the popup to the front when it is first opened.
If I go back to the main window and choose another link, the popup stays in the background. I don't want to open a popup for each link and if all else fails, I'd be happy with using one window if I could bring it back to focus when it is loaded.
Ideally, I'd like the popup to close when the viewer clicks back on the main window but so far no joy. I can close the popup with a link, no problem, but I'd like to do it instinctively.
Is there any way to close a window when it loses focus? If not, how do i refocus the window when a new link is selected? Code:

I'm having an array dynamically fetched from the database using php, in result, I'm getting a check box, with their corresponding value.
I wanted to make a javascript function so that if I uncheck a checkbox, corresponding value disappears.
Before going to the looping, I was trying to do a simple check - like this -
function checkOtherValues() {
if (document.myform.checkmember[0].checked==false) {
document.myform.checkvalue[0].value="";
}
}
I thought this should work, but I'm getting the following error -
document.myform.checkmember.0 is null or not an object For the form, it's set in this way -
<input type="checkbox" name="checkmember[]" value="<?=$chmember[$i]?>" onClick="return checkOtherValues()">
<input type="text" name="checkvalue[]" size="5" value="<?=$chvalue[$i]?>" />

i've a div that contains a form, each of these elements have their own id; the structure is something like this
<div class="art-Block-body">
<div class="art-BlockHeader">
<div class="art-header-tag-icon">[code].....
I'd want that: at the first user's click on the #register div, the div #registerForm become visible, it should remains visible also when the user click the submit button within and it should disappear if the user click a second time on the #register.I partially solved my problems with this:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#registerForm").css("display","none");
$("#register").toggle(function(){[code]....
but i can't resolve the submit issue: whenever a user submit the form in the #loginForm div, the page refresh and the main div return invisible.

I am working on creating a JSON feed that is later being used with Arshaw's fullCalendar, which I am integrating into Expression Engine CMS. Currently I am doing the following, and all works well.
<?php $ms_title_array = array(); ?>
<?php $ms_start_date = array(); ?>
<?php $ms_due_date = array(); ?>
[code]....
What I am curious about is I am trying to create another array set that is pulling new information from a different source. Is it possible to use the json_encode(); method to encode two separate variables?If not, is there a way I can create the event variable and store both the information you see in the while loop with information that I would store into a new while loop? I'm a little stumped

VALUE="BACK"
onClick="history.go(-1)">
</FORM>
Does anyone know how I could accoplish the desired result using this code, or any other code? And what about a foreward button?

I'm looking to have a lightbox pop up when a user clicks the Back button in their browser rather than just navigating back. The purpose is to ask a question with a Yes/No answer, and if they click No, I allow them to go back. The only thing I've found anything like this is the onUnload event, but that doesn't prevent them from going back. How should this be handled?

I am trying to write a script that uses the IF statement to see wether or not a user clicked the back button to come to a page, and then if it's true to not let the page load and kick them back X number of pages (say 4) This is what I have so far:
<script language="JavaScript"><!--
if javascript:window.history.back == 1
{
javascript:window.history.back(4);
return false;
}

I'm trying to do something, but I don't know if it's possible.
Basically, I want to have a public static class method that could
access a private object's method. I would like to be able to do :
Class.method(InstanceOfClass);
The method would then access a private function from Class by doing
something like
function method(param) {
param.privateMethodOfClass();
}
I've done a lot research and experimentations but just can't come up
with a solution... I don't even know if what I'm trying to do is
possible.

Why is the callwhy is the slice method only a method of an Array instance? The reason why I ask is because if you want to use it for the arguments property of function object, or a string, or an object, or a number instance, you are forced to use Array .prototype slice.call(). And by doing that, you can pass in any type of object instance (Array, Number, String, Object) into it. So why not just default it as a method of all object instances built into the language?In other words, instead of doing this:
function Core(){
var obj = {a : 'a', b : 'b'};
var num = 1;[code]....
//right now none of the above would work but it's more convenient than using the call alternative.
}
Core('dom','event','ajax');
Why did the designers of the javascript scripting language make this decision?

I have a webpage popup (lets call it POPUP) which refreshes the opener window (this one we call PARENT) when we close it, saying we want to save data. For this, we use
top.oWndOpener.refresh();
When we don't want to save the POPUP data, we just close the popup and
don't refresh the PARENT. In the PARENT we have a "Back" link which executes a simple
history.back()
The problem is:
If we refresh parent, we need to go back 2 pages, because the refresh
method adds another page to the history. But we have no (easy) way of
knowing in the PARENT if it had been refreshed. With this, our users
are forced to click two times in the Back link.
Is there anyway of going back to the previous page, no matter how many
refreshes happened in the current one ?

I have been trying to utilize a pre existing snippet of JS that makes a call to some PHP, where the PHP echo's out the answer, namely a dynamic quick search output, that gains its data from an xml file (which works as expected) and thought I might be able to rework the code to work for my altered purpose (which has been a disaster at every attempt) which is as follows:
1. I have a JS file called call4section.js - JS that has a string (str) value assigned (could be number or a combination of numbers and letters) which is passed to a PHP script called call4section.php.
2. The PHP script takes receipt of the string and finds a match within an XML file for the entry under <reference>.
3. The XML file has a format as follows:
<pages>
<note>
<section>value</section>
[code]....
And well, I dont seem to be able to get any further forward with it. Effectively, I can echo out the $reply (if it worked I think), but my stumbling block is sending the starting string, with the JS expecting some reply sent from the PHP.
