Ajax :: Script Which Reads Text String From Php Script

May 12, 2009

I'm trying to create an AJAX script which reads a text string from a php script. I've managed to do this and it works fine. Problem is, when the php script is ran, it's supposed to add a record to a database.If I run the script through a browser it does this, but when called from the ajax script it doesn't. I've managed to get this to work before when calling xml, but as I'm doing it a different way as it's calling text.

IFrame That Reads .txt Files AND Scrolls To The Bottom Of The Page?

Sep 30, 2011

I have a website on a Shared Server at work that I'm trying to get an iFrame to view the contents of a lengthy .txt file and I need it to AUTOMATICALLY scroll to the BOTTOM of the .txt file when the webpage opens. I have a script that will scroll .htm files to the bottom but I can't get it to automatically Scroll a .txt file to the bottom (Best I've gotten is a button that you click which scrolls to the bottom) but I need it to Automatically do it when the page opens.

If it matters... My .txt file is actually a .LOG written in notepad with the 1st word ".LOG" which automatically inserts the Time & Date Each time the file is opened and it opens with the Cursor Automatically at the Bottom of the page.

When Gets To The End Of The Cycle Of Images It Reads The Last Image As The Last One To Reach The Left Hand Side Which Is Obviously Quite Unattractive?

Sep 14, 2011

I'm busy creating a website and I've implemented a gallery of sorts using this script below to make it move the images, however when it gets to the end of the cycle of images it reads the last image as the last one to reach the left hand side which is obviously quite unattractive. So all I would like to know is if there is someone who can alter this code to make it so the last image is read on the right of the block thus resulting in no blank blocks. You can view it in action at http://mcphotography.co.za/corporate.html.

Code:
var Spry;

Ajax :: Cannot Pass String To Function

Aug 27, 2008

I am using ajax to pass php variable to javasccript function as shown below for my particular application.

i am using the foolowing function from ajax.js freely available from net to implement the ajax functionality as

var abc = new sack();
PHP portion which passes the response text:
************************************
<?
$table=$_GET['tablename'];

[Code]....

1] When $table is having a string with only numeric characters for eg: "123" we get the alert

2] When $table is having a string with alphanumeric characters for eg: "123efg" we get the error report as "missing ) after argument list"

3] When $table is having a string with alphanumeric characters for eg: "efg123" or "abcdfr" we get the error report as "efg123 is not defined" or "abcdfr is not defined".

Ajax :: Always Displaying Empty String

Aug 13, 2010

So I'm having some issue with an ajax call I'm making. The success always returns an empty string no matter if what the php function returns. It seems that looking in firebug the function is called and I've tested it by sending myself an email. It just happens that it is always an empty string. And I am very confused because I developed it on my local server and it worked just fine.

Identify Ajax Proc Name From A String Variable

Apr 4, 2006

The best way to describe what im trying to accomplish is with a code
snippet. Im using the free .NET ajax library.

<script language='javascript'>
function proc1()
{
myFunc("MyCodeBehind.MyAjaxProc");
}
function myFunc(procName)
{
procName("My Parameter", processMyFunc);
}
function processMyFunc(response)
{
// Process response from the server
}
</script>

So im essentially invoking an Ajax function , but I cant explicitly use
the name of it like so

MyCodeBehind.MyAjaxProc("My Parameter", processMyFunc);

That line would work fine. Clearly though, this doesnt work

var procName = "MyCodeBehind";
procName("My Parameter", processMyFunc);

JQuery :: 'url:' Key In The $.ajax Set Of Options Require String?

Does the 'url::' key REQUIRE a literal string?? Is there no way to set this value at run time?

AJAX :: Parsing A String Returned With Technology?

Dec 6, 2009

Through an AJAX implementation, I am receiving a SQL Query result that has:An object's attribute delimited by a comma.An entire object (database row) delimited by a colon.This is an example response to make it more clear for you.

1,Jeremy,130,80;2,Lauren,370,300;3,Jeancarlos,200,200;4,Luke,330,70;5,Bloom,392,108;

What I am trying to achieve is placing all of this data into an array. I've set up a little test bed to try and get this to work; this is all I have so far:

var testString = "1,Jeremy,130,80;2,Lauren,370,300;3,Jeancarlos,200,200;4,Luke,330,70;5,Bloom,392,108";
var testArray = new Array();
testArray = testString.split(";");[code]....

get a multi-dimensional array that has information for each person. Example:

FinalArray[0][0] = 1
FinalArray[0][1] = Jeremy
FinalArray[0][2] = 130

Ajax :: Append A String To Response Before Receive It?

Aug 19, 2009

I'm having a problem with Windows Mobile 2003 and AJAX. I'm using Windows Mobile 2003 because it is the earliest version of Windows Mobile I'm willing to build support for.

Basically, in Windows Mobile 2003, AJAX doesn't work if your response is only one character.

So I want to know if I can append something to the response string so I don't receive an error?

I would hate to have to re-program all the thousands of lines of code I have just because Windows Mobile 2003 isn't working.

I've already tried doing:

xmlHttp.responseText += "0";

This doesn't work because IE will throw an error since I cannot do anything with "responseText" since IE does not think AJAX is done (even though status = 200, and readyState = 4) because the responseText is too short. I tried it with two characters instead of one, and it started working again, so I know this is the bug.

When responseText is only one character, the typeof(xmlHttp.responseText) is unknown, but when it's at least two characters, it will show the type as "String."

JQuery :: Passing Base 64 Encoded String Through Ajax?

Feb 1, 2011

I have an image that is encoded as a base 64 string, and I'm having trouble passing that a WCF service using $.ajax(). I initally tried using JSON to pass the argument to the web service, but I kept getting 400 Bad Request errors for anything of reasonable length (if I just pass a test string in, it makes it through, of course). I've tried calling encodeURIComponent on the string before stringifying it, but that hasn't helped. I've also tried various content types ("application/json; charset=utf-8", as well as whatever the default is) and that hasn't made a difference either. Unfortunately, the request is being made through a mobile phone, so debugging options are few. Is there an upper limit to the size of the argument that I'm passing in this? The strings can be a few hundred kb at the low end up to maybe 1 or 2 mb at the high end.

Here is a snippet of the code I am using:

$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "http://www.myserver.com/MyService.svc/MyFunction",
cache: false,

[Code]....

No matter what the string consists of, it errors would with a 400 Bad Request error. No further information.

Ajax :: Parse A HTML String Received From A Request?

I need to parse an HTML string received from an AJAX request. I wrote a function that places the HTML string into an unappended (not added) <div> , which opens the string up to the DOM hierarchy. However, when I try to access the elements of this <div> , I get an error in the console that says root.getElementById is not a function. This tells me that I can't access any of the child nodes.

Here is what my script looks like:

function parseHTML(html) {
var root = document.createElement("div");
root.innerHTML = html;
// The error console stops at this line

Getting Text String Into Variable?

Dec 28, 2010

I'm having trouble getting a text string into a variable:

HTML Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC '-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN' 'http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd'>
<html xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'>
<head>

[Code]...

I'm using the alert to confirm if I've managed to get the time ok from the html, it should when working display the static time but currently displays NaN which AFAIK means that javascript is getting something from the HTML but it's in a form that it can't work with.

I know that the HTML validates fine, the time display is output from PHP. The intention is that PHP will output the time, if javascript is available then the javascript will take the static time and turn it into a ticking clock.

I'll look into the main guts of the clock script at another time, right now I need to get the basics working. I need to do it something like this way as I don't want to have any javascript embeded in the HTML, I want to have the javascript in external files.
