Does anyone know a way to do vertical sync with javascript animations (getting timers to run on the vertical sync)?
I rather doubt there is a way to do it, but I find it annoying that when I am dragging an object with my mouse that the object "tears" sometimes.

I am using Ajax to refresh a DIV area by setting the
innerHTML=request.responseText in the usual manner. in the response text I
have a <SCRIPT> tag in line, but this is not executed. Is there a way of
making the ajax refresh process this.

I'll start off by saying I'm a novice developer. I'm building an mvc application and recently started using the jquery hotness. I've set up a right hand nav and bound click events for collapsible panes. Inside one of those divs (action pane) I've bound click events which will open a modal dialog with a form. The form is submitted with $.post(). Then I've used $.get() to refresh several divs with the new content. Once that happens, all of my links begin to fire twice (collapsible panes and the links in the action pane) in ie8 and the latest firefox but not in chrome. I pulled out all the markup and js and put it on a static test site: [URL].

But instead of firing the success callback, it alert the result 200 ok with the JSON result.

I have two text boxes and I want them both to submit the same data, such as if the user changes one text box, the other changes to the same value and vise versa. I am easily able to make one textbox update the second with javascript, but not the other way around (it either won't do it, or neither textbox will accept a value).
I tried two different js functions, tried two different if statements in one function.I'm using onkeyup (vs. onchange), though I don't know if that's important or not.It's best not to ask WHY I want to do this, because my explanation will be dumb. Honestly it's to save from having to do an extra IF statement in PHP (and because it looks cool for the enduser).

I use both sync and async modes. Before starting any ajax request i display a processing(rotating) gif icon to show that the request is in progress. when i get the response i will hide the animating gif to show that the process has completed. this works fine with async and sync mode of ajax in FF but not in IE.
If i use sync mode. that is AJAX.open('GET','path.php',false); in IE the gif file is not visible because IE is not displaying it. Basically this is also correct because that is the way sync is meant to. If it is sync mode then no other process will take place until the browser gets the response. Were as in async mode the request is threaded so other processes are not affected.
But FF displays the animated gif for both the modes of ajax. and IE displays the animated gif only for async request. If anybody know the reason behind then please post your replies. 'cause i have simplified most of my projects by using sync mode of ajax. But in IE the progress (processing) animation is not visible so the user will not know what is happening till the browser gets the response.
So, i hope that i have to stick with async mode. in sync mode you can write code in a few lines and it is very easy to have various type of functions which could return bool, array, object etc... since you get the result in the LHS... but that is not the case in async mode... we need to do a lot of gimmick to have a prototype of ajax...
also if i could have references to sites which explains ajax in complete detail then i will update my idea of ajax.

I have an onclick that triggers ajax which calls a php script to pull data from MySQL. This information is then displayed in a div. The problem I am having is that sometimes pulling the data from MySQL takes 2-3 seconds, so the div is empty for about 2-3 seconds. How would I go about adding an animated "Loading" gif to display in the div while it is waiting to display the content?

I'm trying to click on a link and via Ajax, get a table row to display updated data. I have it all working except it displays at the top of the table instead of inside the table at the desired row. For now, I'm just trying to add a simple table row using:
<TR><TD>test</TD></TR>
Here is my table code:
<TABLE>
<TR><TD>one</TD></TR>
<TR><TD>two</TD></TR>
<span id="id_row3"></span>
</TABLE>
So when I click on my link to execute the ajax code, I expect to see a table row inserted with the text "four" but "four" displays at the top of the web page, above the table itself. How can I get the new row to insert at the id_row3 tag?

I have a script that uses ajax and php to search a database and show the results. What it is doing at the moment is it takes the user input from the search form, and then send that to php page via ajax, and what ever PHP page returns it just show that at once, for example, if php returns 20 rows, it will show them all at once. What i want is that it will show row by row instead of at once. Like it search and then display row 1, then 2 then 3 then 4 so on till the end. So i dont want all the search to be displayed at once.

I have a problem since three days about google map. I want to use jQuery to dynamically load the map in a page. Here is the code: In left side page, a script that loads the page into the right one:
<script
type="text/javascript">
$(
document
).ready(
function(){
$(
"a"
).each(
function(){
var
ajaxOptions = {};
In the right side page:
<?
php
$content
.=
'<script type="text/javascript">'
." ";
$content .= " ".
'function initialize() {'
When I call the right page without ajax (by its url), I get the map entirely displayed. Nevertheless, when using the jquery load method in order to load dynamically the right page, for the first time, the card was well displayed. But later, by clicking the same link, I get a problem: The card is displayed only one-third. I thought it was the cache that was originally because when I empty the browser and I reconnected, everything goes well. Then in jQuery, I changed the load method by adding the option cache: false.

I am not a javascript programmer, however are checking as I would like to investigate if I can do following:
I have a calculator that check the price for the properties for a choosen date, I use php and mysql to get the result and the result are displayed on the same page refreshing the page using this in the form: action="<?=$_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME']?>#formdestination">
I know you can print the result using ajax or other javascripts to do this without having to refresh the page and jump to the result.
Was doing a research and I quckly found this link:[URL]..It does not look so complicated, however as I can see the form is done in javascript so I suppose if you have javascript disabled you cant use the calculator.
I would like to have a non javascript solution with the way I am doing it to work if javascript is disabled. An exampel of the calculator can be viewed on this link for exampel:[URL]..

I have a webcam that uploads an image to my non-profit's website via FTP every 15 seconds. The filename is webcam.jpg. I have a javascript that automatically reloads the image (NOT the entire page) every 15 seconds as well. The script is as follows:
<script type="text/javascript">
function reloadImage() {
var now = new Date();
if (document.images) {
document.images.myobject.src = 'images/webcam.jpg?' + now.getTime();
}setTimeout('reloadImage()',15000);
}setTimeout('reloadImage()',15000);
</script>
The script works great--the webcam image refreshes every 15 seconds without refreshing the entire page. What I'm trying to do is add javascript that will also display the timestamp of the webcam.jpg file when the image is refreshed (so that people know what time/date the image they're looking at was taken). I'm guessing this involves some sort of AJAX request, but I haven't the foggiest idea how to make it happen.

I don't want it to hide the entire page - just this one script.Up until recently, I had no idea as to what ajax was, or what it did, so I surely am unable to do this.

I'm working on my personal website, and I got everything up and going mostly. I have a menu going down the left of the web page (Home, About Me, Recent Programs, etc). On the right, I have the main content area with a div named 'content'. It's a pain in the butt when I modify my menu because I have to go to each page and C/P.
I just learned about AJAX, and was wondering how to dynamically refresh my 'content' div with specific information. Currently while in Dreamweaver, it dynamically displays correctly. When I preview in Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer, nothing happens
I've spent about a day trying to figure it out on my own, and nothing has changed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tried different variations and different approaches as mentioned by websites. Bottom line I guess is:

I want to store the main content of my site (with it's HTML) in an XML file such as:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<root>
<data>
<h3>Hello World</h3>
<p>Here is some content, blah...</p>
<p>Yet another paragraph</p>
</data>
<data>
<h3>Section 2</h3>
<p>More stuff to read</p>
</data>
</root>
And I want to load all the HTML in a data node via an onclick event. I've got the following basic AJAX code:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
function ajaxRead(file,node) {
var xmlObj = null;
if(window.XMLHttpRequest) {
xmlObj = new XMLHttpRequest();
} else if (window.ActiveXObject) {
xmlObj = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
} else {
return;
}
xmlObj. {
if(xmlObj.readyState == 4) {
var parentNode;
parentNode = xmlObj.responseXML.getElementsByTagName('data')[node]
updateObj('xmlObj', parentNode.firstChild.data);
}}
xmlObj.open ('GET', file, true);
xmlObj.send ('');
}
function updateObj(obj, data) {
document.getElementById(obj).innerHTML = data;
}
//-->
</script>
If I remove the HTML tags within the data node it works, but obviously there is no formatting, and its just all text. How can I load the HTML content into the div? Note: 'xmlObj' is the name of the div I'm trying to populate.

We're using jQuery ajax quite a bit without issue. Today, however, we ran into an issue where the results of a query are not displayed.fyi... the following works fine in firefox. scenario:
1. load ajax "$("#location").load( url... )" used to retrieve results
2. using fiddler, we can see the results are returned as expected
3. results not displayed. look at the updated dom in IE8 with dev tools and the results are not put into the display area Additional info...
a. using $("#location").load( url, function(data) { alert(data); }); the alert shows the results are returned via the function call as well.
b. the #location is an empty div.. e.g. <div id="location"></div>
c. if we put some text in the div, it will be removed, by the call, but the results still will not display
d. we have removed all .show(), .hide() options
e. if we remove the ajax call and just do a $("#location").text("blah blah blah..."); the results are displayed
f. we have tried both 1.3.2 and 1.4.a1 again, every variation works just fine in firefox.t
