Do you know a good, free to download book about AJAX (pdf, djvu, chtm?, any)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a form.On the form I have a drop down box that allows the user to select a data set to work with (A or B). The table loads just fine and all is right with the world. No problems there.What I need is for the user to be able to edit the data set and have those changes written directly back to the mySQL database. They also need the option of deleting a record entirely.I know how to do all the database queries, updates, etc. I just don't know how to write the ajax forms to accomplish this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've taken a look around the net, and I've noticed some spreadsheet scripts out there written in javascript/html, and I've noticed they mostly seem to lack some functionality/formulas.
So I've been playing around with creating my own spreadsheet, and so far I have something approximating a spreadsheet in Firefox.
I have a couple of issues with making cross-browser, as I clearly do not understand the problems with the Opera and IE browsers.
Current issues:
1. IE apparently only recognizes every 2nd column/row when entering data, but will quite happily allow the user to scroll around the page with the mouse-wheel and the arrow keys.
2. Every time the user switches cells, what is happening in the background is that the innerHTML of the cell is being recorded, then copied into a textfield for editting, which is then swapped for the old innerHTML. However in IE (and occasionally in Opera) what happens sometimes is that I get a double event firing or something weird like that, and I end up with an text field with its OWN innerHTML inside itself (gotta like that self-referencing stuff).
3. Who knows what else is wrong with the formulas in IE since I can't get past issue #1.
4. Opera apparently doesn't recognize the mouse-wheel event at all, and only fires the onkeydown event once (even if you hold down the key on your keyboard). Also, Opera also occasionally likes to swap the innerHTML for itself as with issue #2 above.
I need a javascript function to save a html table in my web page to excel work sheet on click of a button.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor a project in my high school web design class, I need to integrate an Excel spreadsheet as data so to speak for a web page. I want to pull the prices from the sheet, and make them appear on the page. I'd like to pull it from the sheet so that the client can still adjust and edit the prices without having to reach the actual webpage. Conceptually, I thought this would be fairly straight forward, but in researching how to do this, I got very confused. I'm not even positive that I'm putting this in the right section.
So my main question is this: Is there a way to integrate an Excel spreadsheet in such a way that it can provide data for certain fields of a webpage? If so, can someone please explain how?
I am new to jquery and JavaScript in general and I want to access data in Google Spreadsheet. So at first I published a spreadsheet to be able to retrieve a JSON feed like mentioned here: Simple example of retrieving JSON feeds from Spreadsheets Data APINow I can get a JSON-File - the specific file is this: My Google Spreadsheet JSON
But I was not able to display any data as of now. My code looks like this:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html><head>
<title>the title</title>
<script src="[URL]" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
jQuery.noConflict(); // probably I need this because in the JSON-feed there are $t-objects
jQuery.getJSON("[URL]", function listEntries(json) {
var content = document.createTextNode(json.feed.entry[2].title.$t);
jQuery("p.inhalt").append(content);
});});
</script></head><body>
<p class="inhalt"></p>
</body></html>
So if this looks like noob-code - it is. How the code should look like if a wanted to access the data in the spreadsheet?
I have text area that includes the full path for a local file on our company network. The files are usually excel sheets or docs. How can I have it so when they clicks the file it opens the local file?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently in the process of making a spreadsheet like webpage and it all working fine... However I have been using setAttribute and removeAttribute in order to dynamically change a table cells onclick property.
This of course does not work in IE7 etc and I've been banging my head against a brick wall trying to come up with a solution that will work in all browsers but I just can't seem to get it to work with using methods such as...
I get all sorts of not implemented, type mismatch errors when I try to use the above.
Below is the setAttribute code which works.
I'm trying to create a spreadsheet style form, where the column headers are set, but the number of editable data rows vary. The idea I have is to create a table and make its table cells editable via contentEditable='true', and use javascript to add more rows when a user clicks a button (id="addRows" -- see below).
Thus far I've put together the html for the static component of the table and I'm putting together the javascript. At this point I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there a better way to accomplish my goal? 2. How can I retrieve the data from the editable cells and group them so when I send the data via ajax, the information can be saved properly - i.e. grouped according to row?
[Code]....
I'm writing a program that would automate data entry (from an excel spreadsheet) into an online database. I've been doing them one by one for the past couple of weeks...only have about 10,000 left.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm sure you are all familiar with this free uploadscript, if not i'm happy
to post the sourcecode.
I use this to upload files to the server, but it doens't check wether the
file already exists or not.
Anyone knows how to add this into the script?
It's also possible to do it onformsubmit and return false if the file
already exists, but what is the scriptcode?
I am starting to learn JavaScript. But now I need a good IDE to code.
Obviously I need a free IDE, I am not planning to make money with my code.
Can anyone recommend a Free Javascript IDE for Mac?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe follwing function is in an onkeypress event for some textboxes. How can
I cancel the keystroke? or more importantly it's output. This function does
what I want it to do, but it actually writes a space in the textbox. I
wanted to escape out of writing the character. Especially if I change it to
another keyCode besides space bar. Any ideas?
function setEfforts(ctrl){
if(event.shiftKey && event.keyCode == 32)
{
var row = ctrl.parentNode.parentNode;
var inputs = row.getElementsByTagName('input');
var textboxes = new Array();
for(var x = 0; x < inputs.length; x++)
if(inputs[x].type == 'text'){textboxes.push(inputs[x]);}
for(var y = 0; y < textboxes.length; y++)
textboxes[y].value = ctrl.value;
}
return false;
}
I'm using an ajax-type script(as such things are now called) to use document.id.innerHTML() to write code dynamically into a <div>.
The code being written into the div is the html and javascript of another page that is being copied down by a php script and then being written into my <div> via the innerHTML(). The webpages being displayed in the div have javascript functions that have to run in order for that page to be displayed correclty.
Once I re-write the 3rd party webpage code into my div, the javascript from the loaded page doesn't run. The pages kept coming up looking incomplete, so I turned off javascript on my browser and loaded the page in question directly and got the same thing. So it confirmed that the <div> is not running the written javascript.
Is there a way around this, or do I need to look for another solution?
Let me introduce free PHP IDE with available JQuery plug-in (paid):
Codelobster PHP Edition ([url]) - has all standart abilities for editing code
- PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript highlighting, autocomplete, code structure
- PHP debugger
- code folding, tooltips, help and etc.
And it has special JQuery features:
- autocomplete for JQuery library
- context and dynamic help for JQuery library
I want to build an Ajax based autocomplete feature. Being a server side guy, I have little knowledge regarding layers and DHTML stuff. Having already implemented the AJAX part of the app, I am stuck with the layers thing.
The Google Suggest autocomplete is cool. Has anybody written code (free) or adapted Google Suggest kind of thing for their own use (like querying from database and showing results) ? Can you point me to some links or resources on the net.
I would like to check a web page for updates that is written in JavaScript and requires me to log on with a username and password, then email me a snapshot of the web page or a copy of the web page.
Is there any software out there will let me do this?
Here is a simple script to simulate the page being coded as it loads.
Here is the script....
----------------------------------------
<script language="JavaScript">
var x = 2;
var y = 0;
var h = 0;
function LineBy()
{
bodyarray = document.body.innerHTML.split('
');
document.getElementById('mover').style.height = document.body.clientHeight - h;
var currentline = String(bodyarray[x]);
if (currentline.charAt(y) == "<") displayed = "<";
else if (currentline.charAt(y) == '"') displayed = """;
else (displayed = currentline.charAt(y))
document.getElementById('mover').innerHTML+=displayed;
document.getElementById('mover').style.top = parseInt(document.getElementById('mover').style.top) + 2;
if (y <= currentline.length) {y++;}
else {y=0;x++;document.getElementById('mover').innerHTML="";}
if (parseInt(document.getElementById('mover').style.top) >= (document.body.clientHeight-20)) {document.getElementById('mover').style.visibility="hidden";return;}
h = h + 2;
setTimeout('LineBy()',1);
}
</script>
----------------------------------
Place this inside the body tag.
----------------------------------
onload="LineBy()"
----------------------------------
Then include this DIV inside the body tag.
----------------------------------
<div id="mover" style="font-size:7pt; position:absolute;top:0; background-color:FFFFFF; visibile:hidden; width:100%;z-index:5;height:100%"></div>
i'm removing a bit of html once the page has loaded with js (a message for non-js people) but that makes the page jump sometimes so i want to remove it earlier, as the page is being written/output like how document.write works. i thought of this which seems to work ok:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">document.write('x3C!--');</script>
<p>HTML element not to be seen by people with JS</p>
<script type="text/javascript">document.write('--x3E');</script>
it comments out the bit of html i want to remove for js viewers. is that the best way to do it? is there a bit less verbose one maybe?
I want a standard looking dropdown select box what allows me to enter free text as well (ie the option is not in the list so the user can type in something else). I saw the UIauto complete plugin which is close but not exactly what I want.
