Validate A Radio Group Based Upon The Status Of A Checkbox?
Sep 21, 2009
I am trying to come up with a script that will validate a radio group based upon the status of a checkbox.If box is checked radio button is required else it can stay false.here is as far as I have gotten so far. just a basic if statement but i need to incorporate the check box
Code:
function validate_form ( )
{
valid = true;[code]......
i have 2 radios :what i need is once i choose the 1st radio i will get 1st DDL with folollwing element :Orange AppleKiwiif i chose the 2nd radio i should have the 2nd DDL with :PotatoTomatolegume
I have a radio group that, when a certain option is selected, it makes the radio group disappear and a textbox appear. It works great in Firefox, but it appears to be glitchy in IE.
<script type="text/javascript"> function showRestaurantTextBox() {
This is using jquery by the way. I have a list of ethnicity on a form for a person to enter that are checkboxes. One option is 'Other, specify'. When 'other specify' is checked, I would like a text box to pop up and disable the other boxes (if you pick other, you can't pick from the previous ethnicities). If 'other, specify' is unchecked, I would like for the text box to disappear and re-enable the checkboxes. I had the appearing box working just using JS. I can't seem to get the syntax right to use the toggle feature of jquery to make the box disappear when unclicked.
I want to automatically select a specific checkbox when a user clicks (selects) a specific item in a radiobutton group. Both controls are in the same form.
Let's say for argument's sake that the form looks like this (inessential items left out for the sake of clarity):
I have this code which allows a user to check multiple checkboxes by clicking just one check box. However, when I post the form, I only get the value of one check box. Suppose, I don't check the 'select all' check box and want to check only 1 and 3 checkbox, I still get the value for only one check box.
I'm trying retrieve the value of a radio group, which ever button is selected I need to assign a value to a var. I can't seem to get this right, I'm not even sure if I'm going about this the right way. Here's my code.
//the alert is just to see If I'm getting a value to start with. function validateOrder() { for (var i=0; i<document.getElementById('Size_rg').length; i++) { if (document.getElementById('Size_rg')[i].checked) { return i; alert(i + 'you got a value'); }}}
I have a form on which I've created 5 checkbox groups. Each of these groups consist of multiple checkboxes. The first group - it's id equals "MASTER" - contains 4 checkboxes. These checkboxes are labelled (that is, their actual label tags are) "A", "B", "C", "D". My vision is to have a user check, say, "A" in MASTER and this causes the "A" checkbox group to appear below the MASTER group. If a user then checks "B" in MASTER, then the "B" group appears below the "A" group. If the user then unchecks "A", then the "A" group disappears. And similarly for each of the four "subordinate" groups. My plan of attack was to iterate over the MASTER checkbox group, and for each checked box, somehow populate an array of their associated label tags. I would do the same for all of the checkboxes in MASTER that are not checked, placing their label tags in another array. I would then show and hide the subordinate checkbox groups based on these label tags. The subordinate groups have label tags equal to these captured label tags in these two arrays. All of this action would be triggered via a "click" action on the tag in which the MASTER group resides. I've tried all manner of techniques, including "$.each" and ".map" to populate arrays. I just can't get my mind around the needed syntax.
i have a list of 10 radio buttons all with the same ID=R100 i need a javascript to select (checked) say the 4th radio button AFTER the form is created.
I use this function to find the value of a radio group:
function valButton(btn) { var cnt = -1; for (var i=btn.length-1; i -1; i--) { if (btn[i].checked) {cnt = i; i = -1;} } if (cnt -1) return btn[cnt].value; else return null; }
I however found an incompatibility with Internet Explorer, when the radio group name contains brackets. For example, the radio group name is 񟡂[a]'. The Ms Script Debugger stops on btn.length, saying that it is null or not an object. You may also want to know that it works well in Firefox and Safari.
Does anyone knows any way I can get IE to digest this? Do you know another way to acquire radio group value?
I have created a little script that is supposed to add another item to a radio group and set the new item as selected if none of the other items is selected. It works on initial load of page, but if I press refresh, the checked value of the radio group shifts one place to the right on each reload.[code]The code has some special names and labels.. Thats just because it comes from some generated code from another application.
For some reason when I try to submit my form in IE8 it doesn't get past the radio group.It keeps asking me to select an age even after one has been selected. Validation works but it's not picking up that I have selected one of the items within the group.
I'm working on validating radio buttons in a form. I want to require that a button be selected from required radio button groups before accepting the submit. Not all the radio button groups are required to have a selection.
One problem I'm having is that I can't return the name of the radio button group. I want to switch case on the name of the radio button group.
I do have an id for each individual radio button, so I can confirm that the for loops are working, but my alert tells me that radiogroups[j] is an [object] and radiogroups[j].name is undefined.
And there is a problem with the logic, too. If just one of the radio button sets is checked, the form validates. Code:
I made a quiz using radio, grouped with different names, my problem is that, I want a situation at which the visitor that takes the test will not be able to change the answer of an already answered question. Code:
So I need to create the equivalent of a radio group without using the name attribute. A radio group is just makes one radio selected at a time and this is automatically done if all the names are the same but that isnt an option for me. Here is an example of a normal radio [URL]..
I have looked up and researched many ways on how to do this but I haven't found an exact solution. I have tried to make my own script for this but I just can not remove the check from a radio button after it has been clicked.
I have a form that I am validating all fields. I successfully completed the Javascript functions for that...the problem is that within this validation I need to check if a specific selection was made within a radio group (array) and if , let's say "Yes" was selected, then another radio group would not be required. Code:
This seems to work ok in IE6 but in Firefox a "...has no properties" error is generated when the script executes. The same error is generated when I click on the check box.
I have a checkbox that will either be ticked or not:
HTML Code: <input type="checkbox" id="chk_code_of_conduct">
I am trying to grab the current value of the checkbox every time it changes, and display it in an alert box. But regardless of whether or not the box is ticked, the value always gets displayed as "on":
HTML Code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#chk_code_of_conduct').change(function() { alert('The value is ' + $('#chk_code_of_conduct').val());
I'm trying to develop a module for an aplication and i'm basing on an example from the jquery ui dialog [URL] But i'm using radio buttons and a datepicker field but problems occur when i try to add a second row to the table. It just adds the date value but the "motivo" value don't. I mean everything works fine at the first attempt but at the next it fails.
Here is part of my code: $(function() { var fecha = $("#datepicker"), motivo = $("[name=motivo]"), allFields = $([]).add(fecha).add(motivo),
The following excerpt is part of a very huge project(in terms of code involved). Pardon me if it lacks a bit of context. But I assume I have posted adequate information for understanding the problem.
But when I alert the status of the checkboxes they show up as "undefined". As you can see, the first piece of code defines a titlebar with a button and a couple of checkboxes and the name of the titlebar. And it is these checkboxes that remain undefined even though I can see them and check and uncheck them. But the name of the titlebar gets passed to the function correctly when the onclick event fires and it gets alerted.
I have got a radio button group. A click event have to reset it that the first radio button is checked again. <input type="radio" name="msgtype" value="1" checked="checked" /> Gruß <input type="radio" name="msgtype" value="2" /> Wunsch <input type="radio" name="msgtype" value="3" /> Frage That doesn't work so far: $('#cleaner').click(function(){ $("input[name='msgtype']").filter("[value='1']").attr("checked","checked"); });
