i'm trying to build a bidding site using ajax, and php.what i want to do is that: when the bid time is over 5 minutes, the "div" i've placed will refresh every 10 seconds, and when its under it will refres every 5 seconds.i've tried everything i know but i still cant make it work.the best i got is that i have to refresh the whole site using the F5 button and then it changed, but i want it to change automaticly.this is my main html/php code:
I'd like to know how you would include updated blog posts in html? I assume it uses an RSS feed of some sort... but what kind of code is needed to automatically retrieve the updates from other sites and include them on one single web page?
(For instance, I want to "include" someone else's web content on my page as "here's the latest from so and so:" and then you could read whatever is retrieved from that URL.)
An example I'm talking about is the way news sites offer the news headlines in a java script box for websites. The web owner just puts in one code and the headlines are automatically updated by the news agency... How do I do that or find a template code to change with my custom information?
I have a site using Grey Box pop up ( http:[url]....).It automatically pops up when you go to any of the 5 pages on the site. Is it possible to add a cookie to it so that it only pop up the first time someone comes to any one of the pages?
I am developing a site with Dreamweaver CS3 and have a little knowledge of HTML.
I need a solution for the following:
Visitors can come to my site through a referrer for ex: [url]
The referrers information (cesar017) should be prefilled automatically in a form field on another page than the index page. This means the visitor first can look around on the other pages of the site and then go to the page with the form.
I dont use a database at this moment, I only want a certain field automatically prefilled with the referrers info from the URL for ex : <input type= hidden -or text- name= partner id= partner value= ""/> In this case the field should have the value=cesar017
I understood this can be solved with Javascript or PHP and cookies, but I nearly dont know anything about this and Dreamweaver has not automated this function.
Looking for a way to have background music play automatically when my site loads, with the music being randomly picked from a list of several songs.. So each time the page loads, a different song should play.. Can be JavaScript or Flash, whichever way works the best.
I have an iframe that contains x.asp:Code:<iframe name=chat width=90% height=50% frameborder=0 src=x.asp></iframe>x.asp is refreshed every 1 second using metatag. The problem is that everytime x refreshes, x goes top so the last line is not visible. What I need is a javascript that when x refreshes, scroller automatically goes to the last line
Our company own a lot of domains and want to put a short page of copy on each address along with keywords before redirecting the user to our main site. I have been able to get the page to load the main site after the desired time using this code in the head...
That works perfectly, I am now trying to display a countdown timer from 40 seconds down to 0, and on 0 redirect the user. Saying something like "You will be redirected in XX seconds". Is there anyway of doing this? I've been searching google for the answers with no luck and can only seem to find timers that countdown to a set date.
I have this code in a page that appears in my iframe if requested from parent:
<script type="text/javascript"> parent.rrr(); </script> The parent code is: function rrr() { javascript:location.reload(true); }
So, the person clicks a link from the parent, it does a php process in a hidden iframe, which then tells the parent page to refresh. The only problem is that it puts Firefox in a constant loop of refreshing. IE and Chrome work fine. They refresh once and stop.
Though the src code opens the iframe like so: <iframe src="" style="display:none; height:1px;" name="hdplus" id="hdplus"></iframe> Firefox seems to refresh the page with the memory of the child page being in the iframe, constantly looping the child request to refresh the parent.
Why won't Firefox just accept that no page should load in the iframe, as stated in the code? I need to stop this loop, which means I need to get firefox to reset the iframe as it reloads the page.
this may be more of an "html" issue, but I'll wing it.
i've got a multi-language site, where the home-page of each language group features a link to a popup window that offers background info on site management. the popup is fired by a javascript function, when they click the site management link. there's also a "window close" function button so they can nuke it as they please.
now, oddly, people who search for my site in the chinese language on google, are sent directly to the site management popup window, which of course, opens in their "full" browser window, and which also has no links back to the main site, because it's meant to open only as an "accessory" to the main site.
my question is this: is there any way, with Javascript, that I could determine if they arrived at this window from "off-site" (ie, a google search), and therefore offer such "off-site" visitors a link back to the principal site, a link that would be hidden for visitors who clicked the popup window from my own site?
Basically, I registered for a free board at one of the various sites because my server doesn't support .cgi scripts. I want to know if there is a way to have the data from a form on my site post to the board site -A user would fill in my form, click submit, and a new post would appear on the board site -as if they had entered it there. If you can point me in the right direction, I would be grateful. Here is my thinking.
A) I can't locate the script that they use to perform a "submit"; so I thought I might enter their <head> data (as far as xmlns, href, etc) in my <head>; that my website might call up their script files, css sheets, etc.
B)I could code my own Javascript function to send my form data to their site. If I knew how to simulate a mouseclick on someone else's site, I could have the script "click" there, paste the data, and hit the submit button. But I don't.
C) I could size their site down to the form itself and put it in a frame on my page
Option C is clearly easier, but I would prefer option A or B. I have time and will happily do the research myself; provided that I know if approach A or B is even feasible.
I am searchnin for some javascript (or other) which will do automatically dowloading with progress bar. An good example is when you download msn messenger.
can I have a field automatically clicked by calling something like click()? I have a dropdown box, one of whose elements is "Others (Please Specify)". I list the dropdown boxes values alphabetically.
Sometimes, this value happens to be on the top and SELECTED. The problem is that if this item is selected by clicking on it, in response to onChange I open a text field (so user can specify the value). If this field is automatically selected, the text field des not show; I have to select another value then click on the "Other (please Specify)" to have the text field visible.
I'd like to submit the form automatically using javascript when I fill the value in the user text input box. is it possible? i know i can do it for a pick list, I am not sure about the user text input box.
in the body onload event for a web page I am calling a javascript function which displays an alert message
one user has reported that the alert appears but then is automatically closed before he can read it. He is using IE6 on XP SP2.
AFAIK there is nothing that the server or javascript could be doing to close an open alert box. I am guessing it's a pop-up blocker or something, but the user claims to have disabled all such things on his browser.
automatically calculate a total. The script pulls a price, which is given from a database to a hidden form field. Then once the quantity is changed the bottom form field automatically updates the price. Here's my script if someone could possibly point out why this might not be working (or is my logic flawed.)
how to get the total column automatical gets update when user inputs a value in column 1. i believe its some thing to do with javascript onfocus(). i don't know how to do it.
I have a disabled field which can be changed by using search help showing the select option. After the user selects his wish, the disabled field contains his selection. I need to trigger an event automatically right after the disabled field is changed. This function triggers the event I need:
I'm a novice in javascript programming. I need to create a program that automatically sends websites to a free translating site (the part where it asks you to input a url for website translation), and automatically redirect the user to the translated site. I basically just need to know how to send the url to that box, and submit the result, and redirect the user there.
I have a welcome message on my site and would like to automatically hide it after several seconds. I can't find anything usable after searching over the internet
I've got 16 pages, one for each of 16 days. Then I've got index page. Where will be mine usual stuff but I want to add 16 visible buttons and under each button will be its content, let say for example a picture with some text. I need automatically when user open mine index for example 3rd to show 3rd picture with some text. Is that possible? To be more specific. I need some content to be automatically changed from 1st of January 2010 to 17th of January 2010.
I am trying to write a script to get my sprite to move to the next row once it reaches the last frame on it's current row.
Here's my attempt so far; in the code below I want bird2 when it reaches frame 3 and spState(1) - this means first row - to switch to spState (2) second row.
this is from [URL] you will notice on this site that if you drag the slider to the left the bird sprites change direction, in fact they play the second row of frames.
The reason I want my bird sprite to go automatically to the next row is because I am using video turned into individual frames and a png strip, and I am limited by the max width of png (8192px). see [URL] scroll down to see the bird on the rooftop. Each frame in that bird sprite is 80px wide and there are 93 frames. So I would like to include multiple rows to allow me to increase the number of frames. Up to 15 rows will be needed and after the last row it should go back to the first row. Perhaps a switch statement would be better than what I currently have.
I am new to JavaScript and have been trying to pick up clues from [URL] I am very happy to learn and I hope to be prompted and pushed in the right direction.
