Need RegEx Pattern To Pull Some Text From HTML JS Tags
May 21, 2009
I need to parse an an HTML page and pull what ever values are in these JavaScript tags. There will usually be multiple tags with different values between the single quotes. The value in the next example I need to pull into my array would be 'A728'. Here is an example code..
I need some help creating some regular expressions that remove specific html tags...the script/expression will run when a button is clicked (i.e. "Remove Bold" button will remove <b> </b>).
currently I have these expressions working but they do not accomplish what exactly what I am after...Actually the functionality I'm looking for will incorperate both, however I can't seem to get it to work properly...
data.replace(/<[^>]+>/ig,"")+""); - this removes all tags (no matter what kind), I would like it to be a little less "greedy" and only remove specific tags. i.e: Input = <u><b>THIS IS SOME DATA</b></u> Output= THIS IS SOME DATA
data.replace(/<(B|b)[^>]*>[^<]*(</B>|</b>)/ig,"")+""); - this removes bold tags and will leave other tags like <u> behind, exactly what I was looking for. However, it also removes the content/data that is wrapped in the tag. i.e: Input = <u><b>THIS IS SOME DATA</b></u> Output= <u></u>
In the above example what I would like to happen is: Input = <b><u>THIS IS SOME DATA</u></b> Output= <u>THIS IS SOME DATA</u>
I'm trying to write a RegEx function that will remove all HTML tags AND the content in between.
I'm finding a lot of functions that will strip out JUST the tags (leaving the in between content), or will remove tags and content for specific tags only (or will allow only specified tags, removing all else.) But I can't quite seem to write a mask that will take out ALL HTML tags and their content.
Here is the mask I have now (fiftieth version of it, anyway):
It checks that the character before the comment isn't a backslash or that we're at the start of a string/line since it's in multi-line mode. Then it captures the actual comment. Seems to work so far... I have the following RegEx that matches double slash comments:
Code JavaScript: ///.*$/gm
It works fine except for this one exceptional case where a RegEx which ends in a slash is followed by a comment as in the following example:
Code JavaScript: //*[sS]*?*//gm, // Slash comment
The RegEx captures "//gm // Slash Comment" as a comment, removes that piece, and in the process breaks what used to be a valid RegEx statement. how I might be able to fix the pattern to avoid this issue?
I am creating a small CMS module for a client. I created a little form and when they click Submit, it goes straight out into an include (.inc) file, which is connected to the web page to be displayed.
The trouble I am having is that I'd like to create an additional button that will insert some text (certain html tags to make their life easier, etc) - I got it to work, actually. The script executes and the text is inserted - but once the script runs and the page refreshes (or whatever it does), the text then disappears. The only way I can seem to get it to stay put is when I use "onmouseup" instead of "onclick" - which means that every time the user accidentally mouses over the thing, it inserts the text.
I have a text area that I want to add simple html formatting buttons to.The user should be able to:- highlight text and click a 'bold' button- highlight text and click 'itallic' button- Add bulleted list- LinkI've looked at a number of WYSIWYG javascript examples, but they seem to accept Microsoft Word formatting, which I dont want
I have some auto-generated code in a similar format to this:
<li class="item"> <a class="link1" href="#">Post Title</a> Text I want to remove <div class="content">
[Code].....
I want to select the line of text ("Text I want to remove" - with no HTML tags around it) and hide it using CSS (or remove it all together, if I can). I have tried using insertAfter to put a start <span> tag at the start of the line, and insertBefore to close the </span> tag at the end of the line (so I can apply CSS display:none; to it), but clearly JQuery doesn't work like that.
Is there another way to get rid of this line of text?
I want to display the content of textarea with html parsed eg. how gmail /yahoo displays its mail contents with all the images loaded, with all the links with hypertext parsing the html. Is there any way to display the same.
i am having trouble with a program for class hoping someone can point me in the right direction i am supposed to use nested for loops to output 2 seperate webpages one with the first pattern below and then another with the second pattern.
suppose i have a strings (html):Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, <span id="display_only">consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat. </span>Ut wisi enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exerci tation ullamcorper suscipit lobortis nisl ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat.How can i display only the text whicj is inside the #display_only tag.... So that the result would beonsectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nibh euismod tincidunt ut laoreet dolore magna aliquam erat volutpat.
I need to have an alert message that has an exponent in it. The only problem is, the built in "sup" function javascript has merely surrounds the text with HTML tags, and sadly, they do not work in alert messages. Is there any way to convert normal strings into superscript in a way that works with alerts?
I'm trying to select a line a text and format it, only problem is there are no tags around it other than a closing </p> tag and a <br /> tag after it. Please see below the line in bold text which I'm trying to surround with <h3></h3> tags. [code]...
I am having some issues with a form that has "name" "email" "address" text field the a comment section that has been pre filled with the followingI <name> of <address> blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blahblah blah blahblah blah blahSigned<name><address>Now my question is how do i get the form (made in html) pull what the user types in the text field and make it get added to the comment section of the form where the <name> <address> is required.Once filled out it is emailed to me.
Is there a way to pull a text off a certain div on a page, and put it into a javascript string? I'm certain that the field has a particular name and id that I can use, if need be.
I would like to strip HTML out of a string I have in a JSON item I have. I'm using Yahoo! Pipes to aggregate several blog-feeds and put them in together in one big feed, I then use jQuery to parse that JSON and place it onto my page. My issue is though that what's being parsed onto my page is the raw html code within the JSON item. I want any HTML related tags out of the item, so I just see text.
Objective: - when you select other the pull down menu is replaced by the text field. Currently: - Gotten it to the level of when you select the other the text field appears. Question: - HOw can I modify the code so when I select the other menu option from the pull down menu and it replaced by the text field?
<script type="text/javascript"> function togglefield(val) { var o = document.getElementById('other'); (val == 'Other')? o.style.display = 'block' : o.style.display = 'none'; } </script> and the form: <form action="" method="post"> <select name="sel" id="sel" onChange="togglefield(this.value);"> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> <option value="Other">Other</option> </select> <input type="text" name="other" id="other" style="display: none;"> </form>
I have a form with several pull-down menus. I want to give the user the option of learning more about the choice they have made in a pull-down menu.
I'd like to create a text link that takes you to a page with the parameter which is the index number of the pull-down menu. I'd also like it to open in a new window.
How do get that value as a parameter to use in a link?
I'm trying to write/find a regular expression for finding ampersands but not HTML entites.I have this which finds entities but can't figure out how to ignore entities and return unmatched "&"
&[^s]*;
Test string: This is sample test containing a bunch of & and entities. Do you shop at: M&S? &x#1234;
I want to HTML encode the non-entity ampersands for insertion into XML e.g. "bunch of & and" --> "bunch of & and"
Is there a way to change html tags without touching the inner html? For example, changing all h4 elements to an h2. Maybe something like this? jQuery('h4').replaceWith('<h2>' + (this).html + '</h2>');
I am following the following example to create predictive text pull out of the database.[URL]... Seemed quite easy but it seems like it's not working for me, maybe because i'm doing something wrong?
This is the page:[URL]... If you start typing in the big search box the suggestions box appears in the wrong place, and it should be returning some results but it's not.
I need to cut up paragraphs into their constituent sentences. I also want to calculate with abreviations and decimals containing dots in the middle of the sentences.
My simplistic definition: A sentence starts with a capital letter, finishes with (.?!) followed by a space and the capital letter of the next sentence, plus something that is NOT (.?!) I came up with the following negative look- ahead solution that works on decimals, but fails on abreviations.
[A-Z]((?![.?!]s+[A-Z][^.?!]).)+
The negative look-ahead should fail - and come back with true- till it arrives at the sentence ending position in my definition, but it doesn't..
Example: Just after daybreak in Nags Head on the Outer Banks, about 200 miles northeast of Jacksonville, winds 85.43 miles / hour whipped heavy rain across the resort town. Tall waves covered what had been the beach, and the surf pushed as high as the backs of some of the N.Y. dt. houses and hotels fronting the strand. Lights flickered in one hotel, but the power was still on.
