I want two buttons: one for login and another for logout. Initially login button is enabled and logout button is disabled. When I click on login button, the logout button should get enabled and the login button should get disabled. And after that, when i click on logout, the login button should get enabled and the logout button should get disable.
Here's how far I could go with it,but it doesn't work.

Can I do the following with Javascript?
My state has a web site that can be used for online filing for
unemployment benefits. Every week I have to go to the site and fill in
a form, checking off the same boxes each time. I'd like to automate
this.
I need to load the URL for the login page into the browser, fill in my
username and password, and submit the form. From that page I need to
follow a link to file for benefits. There I need to fill in the form by
checking a few boxes and submit the form. This brings up another form
where I have to confirm the entries. Then finally I can select the
Logout link.
How would I go about automating that with Javascript? I don't need
someone to write the whole thing, just provide the basic processes. I
had a similar question a few weeks ago, when I was trying to create a
bookmarklet to open my web banking page and prefill the account number,
but I was never able to solve it (I'm making do with two bookmarks -- a
regular one to open the page, and a bookmarklet to fill in the account#
field once the page is loaded). This makes me think that my plan for
the unemployment page won't work either, but there's no harm in asking.

We would like to create a new website and have that do some dynamic things based on login id. First all we would like to send you do a different home page based on this information, it might be one of several companies. This may also be tied to what URL you clicked but not necessarily. The second thing we would like to do is display only the products that you are eligible for based on your login information. We would like to use images as a link here and if you can sell one product you get one image or maybe bypass and go directly to that section, but if you can sell two or more then those images as links show up as available.
The final thing we want to do is to populate the top 3 or so items you perform on the site as quick links. After all that, are there tools or items I should study to accomplish this task? I'm not sure if I need to mix in some sort of third party analytical tool with the asp.net site or what. The only other thing that I think we can do with ajax is have them say enter a a vehicle identification number and without looking like a screen reload use ajax to show the additional information such as year make and model that are decoded from the vin, but I'm just starting to look into this.

I currently have a normal link like Code:<a href="http://sitepoint.com" class="link">sitepoint</a> and when a user clicks on it I want to be able to change the "link" class to a different class. However, I don't want to add anything to the actual link html. Is it possible to do this using javascript without modifying the original link code?

I want a hidden div that will have a html form for login and I have a link I want when the user click the link the div appear above the link so the user can login. I have this code (I am using Codeigniter framework I think it has nothing to do).
<div id="loginControl" >
<?php
echo form_open('login/validate_credentials');
echo form_input('username','Username');
echo form_password('password','Password');
echo form_submit('submit','Login');
// echo anchor('login/signup','Create Account');
echo form_close();
?>
</div><a href="#" id="login">Login</a>
(I don't know if I can apply an id to a link) and this is mi Jquery script and I know I am wrong.
$(function(){
$('login').click(function (){
$('#loginControl').fadeIn('fast');
});});
I want the login link to be the only that launch the jquery event and show my loginControl Div
I am sure it can be done but I am certain not this way.

In Chrome, the login page on my schools educational online platform doesn't remember the login info. So i made a bookmark with this javascript injection, that fills in the info, and focusses on the 'aanmelden' button (='login' in dutch), so that i only have to press enter to continue. Here's the javascript injection:javascript: ocument.getElementById('username').value='23889493984';document.getElementById('password').value='4 42384985';return false;document.getElementById('login').focus();This works fine but i'd like to make it happen faster. I wish i could let the script be activated instantly when the page loads, so i only have to press enter, or if possible, let the script click the login button itself.

I have a a html page that is used as a login page.I know it is not secure but this is just for learning purposes, I'm not using it for anything important.My problem is that when I put in the correct login all that happens is the page just clears the text boxes as if you were starting over.I am trying to get it to go to register.html which is located in the same directory as the login page.

I am able to run perfectly the following
<li><a href="javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');">Login</a></li>
But not the following
echo "Welcome Guest!<br><a href=javascript:ajaxpage('login.php', 'ajax');>"
I removed the " around the javascript:ajaxpage('login.php'); as it was giving me syntax error. But I am unable to cal login .php upon clicking Login. I tried various combination of single quote and double quote but I think I am missing some fundamental rules of single and double quote combination....or may be something else.

I just wonder if anybody can help me with this:
I need to give my javascript code some extended permissions for disk access on client's machine, and as i understand i need to sign this js. Can someone tell me how to sign js to work with with ie? Can i put my js file into jar and use jarsigner for that? And by the way, would it give me disk access permissions?
I need that for the following: our client gets a cd from us with some mp3 files. When they log onto our web site, they see some links:
eg <a href="file:///e:/resource/file.mp3"><a/>
pointing to the files in their cd, so when they click on a link, that file should start playing.
Or is there another way to access client's disk from a web page for a task like described?

I would dearly love a server with a "self-signed certificate" to be
accessible by my javax.net.ssl.startHandshake() but it seems to consistently
crap-out with a failure :-( Look I've only ever tested the client code
(please see below) with a https server (just to see if everything was
kosher) and it maybe something I'm doing wrong. I just couldn't find
anything in the handshake listener that controlled self-cert. Code:

document.getElementById("link").nodeValue = 'javascript:dothat();'
but alas, this does not work.

I'm a member of a forum the for the Winter season has changed it's CSS a:link color attribute to a more winter themed colour. However I want to revert back to original as I don't particularly like the new colour.
My theory is to create a small JS file, that I can define Opera (my browser) to load when loading the site, which will change the colour of links back to the original colour. I have the colour code HTML I want to change it to.
I've only ever done a small amount of JS coding but from the research I've done it should go something like this,
document.style.alinkColor = "COLOR"
I got to that via discovering that
document.style.backgroundColor = "COLOR"
will change the background colour attribute, however it doesn't seem to work. I think my problem lies somewhere in the attribute name, I know the usually with JS CSS Attributes you would make the attribute starting with a lower case letter and the sub-attribute (e.g. the color bit) starting with an upper case.

HTML Code:
It all works fine but now I need to change the second <a> above, or specifically its ID from "middle1b" to "middle1" on the fly. I'm trying to do it via the method below but somehow JQuery isn't finding the second <a> and hence it can't change it's ID from "middle1b" to "middle1".
Code:
I need to change the link's ID so the hover button image is different as this is necesary to blend it in with the content above it.

Let me give a brief first. When someone logs in my application with
correct username and password, I set a session attribute, say "user"
with his username.
When he logs out, I invalidate the session and remove the attribute
"user". In each of the protected pages, I check for the session
attribute "user". If it exists, I proceed, else I rdirect to login
page. Btw, I am also using frames when the user logs in.
Everything is working as I want it to. Except one thing! After the user
logs out and then goes back using "back" button of the browser, the
page displayed says that he has been logged out and needs to login
again. But if he refreshes the page (after going "Back"), the page
reloads with correct information, as if he is already logged in.
What do I do to prevent this?
I am fairly new to JSP. So, maybe I am missing out on something....

I am running a website and I want to display many things on the same page. Currently what I have is something like this: [two buttons here][some code here, showing][some code here, hiding]When i click the second button, the hidden code replaces the code that was just showing. The first button then re-hides that code and shows the first code again. What I want to do is combine the two buttons so that when you click the first one, the text and hyperlink will change to display that of the second button. And when you click the button again, it will change to the text and hyperlink of the first button.
